Martha Hart, the widow of late WWE Superstar Owen Hart, has “no relationship” with her brother-in-law Bret “Hitman” Hart, she told TheWrap. But it wasn’t always that way.
“Unfortunately, I have no relationship with Bret,” Martha Hart told us ahead of the premiere for Vice’s “Dark Side of the Ring” Season 2 finale, “The Final Days of Owen Hart.”
“Bret was supportive throughout the lawsuit, but there were a few things that were a problem with Bret,” she said. “First of all, when we were going through the lawsuit, he really was hoping that I would be able to help him get his wrestling footage. Because at the time, he had no relationship with WWE and he was hoping somehow — if we ever had a settlement — that we could work it in.”

One of the biggest omissions from the WWE Hall of Fame is “The Black Heart” Owen Hart. His own brother Bret “The Hitman” Hart has said on numerous occasions that Owen not being in the WWE Hall of Fame is a crime. However, it is not the WWE’s fault that he is not in there. Owen Hart died in the ring. It was a fluke accident that caused him to drop from the ceiling and break his neck on the corner turnbuckle before a pay-per-view match. Hart’s widow Martha Hart still blames the WWE for the death and as she […]

Ever since WWE initially announced plans for an Owen Hart DVD/Blu-ray set, which was released this past December, it seemed as if the company was laying the ground work for a possible WWE Hall of Fame induction.
Bret Hart has always been rather vocal about his desire to see his late brother inducted and honored during WrestleMania weekend. However, this is in stark contrast to Owen’s widow, Martha, who has always strayed from any connection to the wrestling industry following her husband’s tragic death on May 23, 1999.
Clearly, if Owen were to be inducted, Bret would be more than willing to accept the honor. Additionally, Owen could be inducted alongside his former stable mates if the Hart Foundation as a unit were inducted, similar to the Four Horsemen a few years back. However, it doesn’t appear that any of this will be happening in Dallas during WrestleMania 32 weekend.

The name Hart has always been synonymous with the world of wrestling, and while no discussion of the business in the 1990s would be complete without including Bret Hart, his brother Owen was every bit as good as he was, and arguably the better wrestler of the two. It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly two decades since Owen fell to his death during May 1999’s Over The Egde Pay Per View, and so this latest WWE release, Owen Hart - Hart of Gold is a long overdue look back at his lie and career.
While not as in depth as last year’s Randy Savage Story or this year’s Ultimate Warrior Always Believe release, due largely to the legal issues between Owen’s widow Martha Hart and the WWE, the seventy-one minute documentary includes heartfelt tributes and stories from much of the Hart clan, notably Bret himself,...

Bret Hart took part in a Periscope chat with Tsn’s Off The Record where he answered fan questions for 16 minutes. As always, he was very opinionated about a number of subjects, including his late brother Owen Hart being inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame.
“I’m hoping next year at WrestleMania that he’ll be inducted and I’ll be really sorely disappointed if he’s not. It’s really overdue.”
He said he was looking forward to the Owen Hart DVD that will be released in December, but that it was too controlled and that WWE had to tip-toe around things so they didn’t offend Owen’s widow Martha Hart. Bret thinks that Martha has made an ass of herself and it has pissed him off because she has tried to erase his legacy.

WWE will be releasing major DVD sets on Owen Hart and The Undetaker later this year. WrestlingDVDNetwork.com are reporting that the Hart feature will be titled “Owen Hart: Hart of Gold” and will be released on December 7th. The project is notable because Martha Hart (Owen’s widow) has said she doesn’t support its release. WWE are moving ahead with it regardless.
As for The Undertaker DVD set, it will be an updated version of the 2012 streak DVD. The missing matches and a fuller documentary are anticipated. It could be a five disc set and will be titled “The Undertaker: The Streak – 21-1 (Rip Edition).”
It will be released in November, which may not be a coincidence. With Taker doing a tour of Mexico in October, it could be an indication he’ll be working Survivor Series the following month. It would make sense that this new...

Today would have been the 50th birthday of the late great Owen Hart. Sadly, Owen passed away due to an unfortunate accident in May 1999 at WWE’s Over The Edge pay-per-view when he fell into the ring after the apparatus he was wearing did not unbuckle in a safe manner.
Since that time, Owen hasn’t been mentioned that much by WWE. His widow Martha Hart sued WWE as well as the rigging company for the accident and while Owen has been featured on some Hart Family DVDs, he hasn’t been the subject of his own documentary. That is until now.
According to a report from WrestlingDVDNews.com, WWE is planning on releasing a Blu-ray/DVD feature about Owen’s life that includes a documentary. If you have seen other career DVD compilations then you know WWE does a great job with them. They usually run anywhere from 90 minutes to two hours.

The long standing lawsuit over WWE’s right to use the name and image of the late Owen Hart has finally been settled, according to a report in The Huffington Post published this week.
Martha Hart – wife of the late WWE wrestler – originally sued World Wrestling Entertainment back in 2010 alleging that the WWE had failed to pay her royalties due after using Owen’s image on their programming which was a violation of a contract restricting such uses which has been in place since his death in 1999. According to Martha, WWE distributed DVD’s of past WWE events that featured Owen on them without compensating Owen’s estate.
Hart had been in the midst of a successful run under the moniker The Blue Blazer on WWF/E programming when he fell to his death from the rafters of the Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Mo before a live television audience.

After filing a suit against World Wrestling Entertainment in 2010 over the use of her late husband's image, Martha Hart has settled with the wrestling juggernaut, the Associated Press reports. Neither side disclosed details of the settlement.
Owen Hart died in 1999, at 34 years old, after an in-ring stunt went wrong on live pay per view. Hart was being lowered from the rafters by cable when his harness malfunctioned, and he fell 78 feet to the ring. The incident wasn't shown to TV audiences, as a pre-taped segment was airing at the time. While medical personnel worked on Hart in the ring, the camera showed only the crowd, as announcers explained what had taken place, reiterating that it was not "part of the show." Hart was transported to the hospital, where attempts to revive him failed.

It's been more than a decade since professional wrestler Owen Hart died in a stunt orchestrated by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) but his name remains the subject of controversy up to this day. His wife, Martha Hart, has filed a lawsuit today against WWE, Vince McMahon (current chairman and CEO) and Linda McMahon (CEO until 2009) that claims that the said organization and the McMahons continue to use Owen Hart's name and image for marketing purposes against his family's wishes and in violation of contract.
