Became the Strikeforce Middleweight Champion after defeating Frank Shamrock by TKO (broken arm) in the 3rd round on March 29th, 2008. On September 17, 2009, Le relinquished his belt after securing another major motion picture deal.
In December 2014, Cung Le was named as a co-plaintiff with Nate Quarry and Jon Fitch in an anti-trust class-action lawsuit against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Le was, who was an active UFC fighter at the time, announced his retirement from combat sports in January 2015.
