Reportedly, 911 became a household name in Las Vegas when they released their 1987 hit single "Walk Like a Tarkanian," a remake of the Bangles' song "Walk Like an Egyptian" that references UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian. Pure International, the Bangles' publishing company, was supportive of the recording. "Walk like a Tarkanian" received high record sales and was played on Las Vegas radio stations and national television.
