EastEnders star Chucky Venn has admitted his sadness at the fact his character wasn't Kat Moon's mystery lover. The Albert Square actor's alter ego Ray Dixon was ruled out of the running way back in August, four months before Derek Branning would be revealed as Kat's secret boyfriend. Reflecting on the moment when he was told Ray would be eliminated from the mystery, Venn told Inside Soap: "When I found out that Ray wasn't in the running to be Kat's secret fella anymore, it was actually a bittersweet moment for me." The star added: "As an actor you want to be part of the massive plots, so I was relishing the prospect of Ray being involved with Kat. Part of me still wishes that I had been the culprit!" (more)...

EastEnders star Shane Richie has reflected on last night's conclusion to the long-running Kat Moon affair storyline. Last night's episode revealed that Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) has been having a secret affair with Alfie's wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) over the past six months. Richie stated that he and his fellow actors did not know of the culprit's identity for a long time. "We always knew there was going to be a pay-off and we knew it was going to be one of five," he told the BBC's EastEnders blog. "When we ruled out Chucky Venn (Ray) and Steve John Shepherd (Michael), it was only one of three, and for a long time we genuinely didn't know. I'm not even sure if the culprit knew. "So it was interesting to play for me as an actor. I loved it because Alfie's not supposed to know. But of course (more)...

You could say the Wrong Turn series has gone downhill ever since the first installment. Technically, that argument would be true. A boring and second-rate premise further desiccated by each installment and destined to eventually become so dehydrated in quality that the DVDs they’re recorded on will be best used as jerky. There are numerous ways to chart the decline of the series: recognizable faces, self-awareness within the genre, relevance to its title or production values. By the time the series reached Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead it had failed in each of those areas leaving “fans” of the franchise wholly unsatisfied.
