I'm not crying, you're crying. I just can't handle these dog movies, and there are a few moments in the recently released trailer for Togo which I know are going to make me shed a few manly tears. Based on the untold true story, Togo stars Willem Dafoe as Leonhard Seppala, a champion dogsled trainer who is tasked with transporting an antitoxin serum more than 600 miles after…...

Disney+ movie Togo tells the true story of a musher and his hero dog on an Alaskan tundra trek to deliver serum for an outbreak.
Togo, a fact-based movie about a legendary dog sled run to deliver an outbreak-combatting serum, may have the makings of an inspirationally adventurous family-driven Disney theatrical offering, but the film is instead headed to a device near you as a (non-Mandalorian) offering on streaming platform Disney+.
Four-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe headlines Togo as Norwegian sled rider Leonhard Seppala, sharing top billing with the film’s eponymous character, a 12-year-old hero dog who, despite his advanced age, leads Seppala’s team on a perilous 1925 trek across 674 miles of the Alaskan tundra from Seward to deliver life-saving serum to those suffering from a diphtheria outbreak in Nome.
Ericson Core directed Togo, bringing experience from 2015’s Point Break remake and 2006 Mark Walhberg-headlined Vince Papale biopic Invincible.

Yes, yes, there’s Willem Dafoe, but Ericson Core’s moving historical drama “Togo” is a canine-obsessed affair. And why shouldn’t it be? The Disney+ original joins a long line of classic predecessors like “Balto,” “Iron Will,” “White Fang,” and a ballooning number of “Call of the Wild” adaptations, though this one has a bit more on its mind than the rest of its doggy brethren. While even casual dogsledding fans likely know the name of Balto — a brave sled dog who inspired both his own animated franchise and a popular statue in Central Park — few are familiar with Togo, arguably the real hero of the so-called “Great Race of Mercy.”
, and Core’s drama seems poised to break out as the streaming service’s first true crowdpleasing hit. Tom Flynn’s screenplay wedges in a hefty amount of fact-based drama (with a few curious tweaks), and while those...

"Got one more in ya, pup?" Disney has debuted an official trailer for another big sled dog adventure survival movie titled Togo, to go along with their Call of the Wild adaptation (arriving in theaters next March). This movie is going straight to their streaming service Disney+, skipping theaters entirely. This movie tells the story of the sled dog Togo, who led the famous 1925 serum run to Nome, Alaska, running over 300+ miles with his musher Leonhard Seppala. Togo is the third movie we've featured this year about the 1925 serum run and the dogs involved in it - including Great Alaskan Race and Disney's own Call of the Wild. In the movie, Willem Dafoe stars as Leonhard Seppala, with a cast including Julianne Nicholson, Christopher Heyerdahl, Michael Gaston, Michael McElhatton, Jamie McShane, Michael Greyeyes, as well as Thorbjørn Harr. This looks better than any of the other sled dog movies, might be worth a watch afterall.

Many have heard the story of Balto, a sled dog who completed the final stretch of 1925 serum run across hundreds of miles of harsh Alaskan tundra to prevent a diphtheria epidemic in Nome, but this heroic canine did not complete this feat alone.
While Balto is the sled dog immortalized in Central Park, there were other dogs who faced the same unforgiving weather and terrifying odds to help transport the much-needed antitoxin serum to Nome. Disney+ is highlighting one of those forgotten hero hounds in the the film Togo.
