Is a Modern Family reunion on the horizon? Star Jesse Tyler Ferguson is stirring up questions with his recent social media post (below) from the show’s set, which he captioned, “Haven’t seen this view in a while.” The show will celebrate 15 years since its debut this fall, which makes now the perfect time for a Pritchett-Dunphy family reunion. But is there anything currently in the works? TV Insider asked series star Ed O’Neill while at the Disney Upfront in New York City on May 14, where he was promoting FX‘s upcoming series Clipped. Jesse Tyler Ferguson via Instagram “I don’t like to do that stuff,” the actor admitted. But as much as he isn’t one for revisiting old characters, O’Neill hasn’t closed the door on such an idea entirely. “I mean, I am open to it,” he says. “I like everybody involved, so I wouldn...

Of L.A.’s two NBA teams, the Clippers have always been like the neglected little brother next to the more glamorous and celebrated Lakers. So it’s fitting, then, that FX’s new Clippers chronicle Clipped — premiering Tuesday, June 4 exclusively on Hulu; I’ve seen all six episodes — pales in comparison to HBO’s superior Lakers saga Winning Time. A gaudy and campy basketball docudrama sung in the key of Ryan Murphy (though Murphy isn’t involved in this production), Clipped bites off far more than it can chew. It’s part underdog sports drama, part overheated soap opera...

Late in the highly entertaining and enlightening new HBO Documentary Films movie on the life and career of Faye Dunaway we learn how much this iconic star just loves coming to the Cannes Film Festival. “Just about every year,” she says — not only for the world’s best films but also to immerse herself in all aspects of filmmaking. I have seen her many times just soaking it all up cinematically both here in Cannes and Telluride, to name two fests.
So it seems appropriate that the Cannes Classics section would be the place for the World Premiere Wednesday night — in the presence of Dunaway as the French like to call it — of this terrific new docu in which Dunaway pretty much tells it all straight about her life, loves, desires, ambitions, movies, co-stars, depression, controversies, family and hopes for the future in a profession she says she can’t imagine not working in.

Paul O’Neill, former New York Yankees right fielder and current Yes Network analyst, might have been unfamiliar with Seinfeld when he first set foot on its set, but his brief cameo in the iconic show’s Season 7 episode ‘The Wink’ has left a lasting impression—and paycheck. O’Neill’s encounter with the sitcom world continues to reward him every time the episode airs. A Classic TV Moment In ‘The Wink‘, O’Neill is humorously cornered by Kramer, played by Michael Richards, who needs him to hit two home runs to reclaim a birthday card belonging to George Costanza’s boss, George Steinbrenner. From movies to video games, Brian Cox has done it all. The versatile actor also has a ton of experience in theatre acting having done plays like The Great Society and King Lear. Recently, he has added yet another play to the long list of his theatre roles – Long Day’s Journey Into Night. The play is directed by award-winning director Jeremy Herrin.
Brian Cox in Succession
Written by Eugene O’Neill between 1939-1941, Long Day’s Journey into Night is considered one of the greatest American plays. Needless to say, anyone who dares to bring the play to life now is going to be harshly judged by the theatre critics. However, Brian Cox is extremely furious at the critics for comparing his performance in the play to that of his iconic role in Succession.

Conor McGregor vs. Dwayne Johnson: Who Cashed the Bigger Check?
Did Conor McGregor really set a world record with his Road House payday? That’s what the onetime UFC superstar has been bragging about in recent weeks, claiming he’s now “the highest paid first-time actor of all time.” If true — and McGregor, 35, hasn’t disclosed how much he got for his debut role in Amazon’s reboot of the 1989 kickboxing flick — he would beat Dwayne Johnson’s record of $5.5 million for 2002’s Scorpion King. While some have scoffed at his claim, sources indicate he was indeed paid in that ballpark, and given the Irishman’s stature in the martial arts world and the offers he has turned down (he accepted a role opposite Vin Diesel in 2017’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, only to back out before filming began) it wouldn’t be surprising if some sort of record was broken.

Last week, the 2024 SAG Awards reunited casts from beloved TV shows and movies including Modern Family, Breaking Bad and The Devil Wears Prada.
While the Modern Family reunion was missing the children from the hit ABC sitcom, the grown-up gathering did include Ty Burrell, who famously missed a previous time the cast gathered since the show wrapped.
Speaking on Friday’s Tonight Show, Jesse Tyler Ferguson said he insisted that Burrell show up after his absence at the last reunion sparked concerns from fans that something had happened to the actor who played Phil Dunphy.
“When the SAG Awards happened, he was supposed to do something else,” Ferguson said. “I was like, ‘Ty! You can’t miss it again! People will really think you’re dead!’ It’s like, ‘We need to present you to show you that you’re not dead!’ So he made it.”

Modern Family‘s Ed O’Neill is learning a little bit more about his real family in the latest episode of PBS‘s Finding Your Roots, and we have an exclusive first look. The actor who is also known for playing Al Bundy in Married… with Children, is sitting down with Henry Louis Gates Jr. to uncover his past, particularly the bravery of his ancestor Bridget Tyrrell, whose remarkable acts of kindness, bravery, and care during the Civil War are still remembered. (Credit: PBS) In the clip above, O’Neill reads her obituary, provided to him by Gates Jr., who notes the year of publication to be 1897, decades after the Civil War ended. Reading aloud, O’Neill relays the obituary’s highlighted sections, saying, “During the late war, Mrs. Tyrrell had two sons and 15 nephews in the northern army and made several trips to the southern battlefields to administer to their wants.

They stopped at a bar. “He started talking to the bartender,” O’Neill said. “He says, ‘I’m looking for this kid, his name is whatever, Demko, his name is Jimmy Demko, do you know him?’ And the guy says, ‘No, it doesn’t ring a bell.

As a former teaching colleague was very fond of saying: “You can’t make a pie out of sh*t”.
He was wrong and right. You can technically make all manner of things – up to and including pies – out of sh*t, but in the end, put any amount of sh*t in a pie and what you’ll end up with is a sh*t pie. Ingredients matter, is the point. Just ask Gordon Ramsay, or Minny Jackson from The Help.
The ingredients in the below movies and TV shows are the opposite of shit. They’re grade A, top drawer, high quality constituent parts… I really wish I hadn’t started this ‘shit’ thing. Does anybody else feel a bit queasy. And off pies?

Dan O’Neill was 53 years ahead of his time.
In 1971, he launched a countercultural attack on Mickey Mouse. In his underground comic book, “Air Pirates Funnies,” the lovable mouse was seen smuggling drugs and performing oral sex on Minnie.
As O’Neill had hoped, Disney sued him for copyright infringement. He believed it was a legal parody. But after eight years in court, he was saddled with a judgment he could not pay. To stay out of prison, he agreed never to draw Mickey Mouse again.
“It’s still a crime for me,” said O’Neill, 81, in a phone interview from his home in Nevada City, Calif. “If I draw a picture of Mickey Mouse, I owe Walt Disney a $190,000 fine, $10,000 more for legal fees, and a year in prison.”

If it’s been a patchy few years for Errol Morris––one solid doc in-between a bad Steve Bannon portrait and iffy look at John le Carré––our interest in his thorough, startling oeuvre remains strong, and it’s naturally a thrill to hear word of two new features. On the documentary front he’s been adapting, for Netflix, Tom O’Neill’s Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties, which quickly engendered great attention for challenging standard Manson Family narratives; and there’s a feature screenplay about Ed Gein, who Morris interviewed in 1975 for a never-completed documentary. If it doesn’t feature that footage and opts for a biopic / procedural path, it would make Morris’ first narrative since 1991’s The Dark Wind. [Screen Daily]

Glen Hansard and Lisa O’Neill performed during the funeral of Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan on Friday, December 8th, singing the band’s 1987 hit “Fairytale of New York.”
MacGowan wrote “Fairytale of New York” with his Pogues bandmate Jem Finer, and their original recording also features Kirsty MacColl on vocals. In addition to becoming perhaps the band’s best-known single, it’s also become a Christmas mainstay, keeping its hold on the UK charts every year around the season.
Backed by members of The Pogues, Hansard and O’Neill gave a faithful rendition of “Fairytale of New York,” even getting audience members to stand up and dance in the aisles. Watch an emotional video of the moment below.
Elsewhere during MacGowan’s funeral, Spider Stacy led The Pogues in a performance of “The Parting Glass,” and Nick Cave gave an emotional rendition of “A Rainy Night in Soho.” And as funeral procession made its way through Dublin,...

Over its 11-season run, "M*A*S*H" earned a reputation for pushing the boundaries of the sitcom format. Amazingly, mainstream audiences generally rolled with this conceptual adventurousness. Indeed, one of the series' most famously experimental episodes, "The Interview", is both a critical and fan favorite. As long as the writers stayed true to the characters, viewers were down for just about anything.
This boldness inspired the show's actors to get in on the fun and conjure up unconventional stories that dug deep into their characters' psyches. Cast members Alan Alda, Mike Farrell, Mary Kay Place, and McLean Stevenson all wrote episodes, many of which were excellent.
But not everyone got their scripts into production and on the air. Gary Burghoff, who played the 4077th's boyish company clerk Corporal "Radar" O'Reilly, had a fascinatingly fanciful idea for an episode that impressed series creator Larry Gelbart. He was hopeful his script would go before cameras,...

The old saw that holds "drama is easy, comedy is hard" typically refers to the fact that it is extremely difficult to actually be funny. Obviously, engaging an audience on stage or through a theater/television screen is a challenge regardless of the genre, but there's a particular skill to getting a laugh (i.e. timing) that some people simply don't possess.
And some actors are so skilled at this craft that their co-stars occasionally have a hard time keeping it together in the moment.
There are loads of stories out there about actors who were just so effortlessly funny that cast and crew members had a hard time holding it together while shooting a scene. It should come as no surprise that Robin Williams was especially adept at this. Directors aren't always as amused as everyone else, as it's their job to make sure they get at least one...

What do you think of when you hear the word Australia? “If you speak to anyone around the world, one of the first things they talk to you about is that everything can kill you,” cracks Morgan O’Neill, executive producer of NCIS: Sydney, originally developed to stream on Paramount+ Australia but too good for CBS to pass up. O’Neill then lists (with clear Oz pride) his native land’s deadly snakes, the spider that “makes the black widow look like a lamb” and, of course, crocs. Two-legged baddies aren’t in short supply, either, on this fifth entry in the massively successful military crime franchise. Smugglers, drug dealers, and the like are in the crosshairs of the eclectic new team led by NCIS Special Agent Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann). “She’s very hot-blooded,” Swann says. “It’s her way or the highway.” In the November 14 opener — the first of eight...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Our Flag Means Death Season 2 Episode 8 “Mermen.”] Our Flag Means Death bid one important member of the crew farewell in the Season 2 finale: Izzy Hands (Con O’Neill) died at the hands of pathetic pirate-wannabe Prince Ricky (Erroll Shand). Starting from a place of trauma and suffering, Izzy defies the odds to overcome his pain and embrace new possibilities as Season 2 unfolds. He learned some valuable lessons about himself along the way, and viewers were treated to several great moments with the character as his journey reached its sad, but fitting conclusion. As the SAG-AFTRA strike ran through Season 2’s run, actors were unable to promote the show, but that recently changed after the union struck a deal with AMPTP. Since the promotion ban was lifted, TV Insider has been fortunate enough to catch up with O’Neill to discuss Izzy’s surprising ending. Looking back on his run as the initially antagonistic ...

When reflecting on her own history Los Angeles-based filmmaker Kerry O’Neill was acutely aware of the distinct lack of representation of the types of situations she faced growing up, inciting her to embark on her alternative coming-of-age short Walk Out Nice And Smooth. Drawing upon universally experienced stories such as first crushes and embarrassing mothers allows the film’s audience to foster a sense of connection with its characters as they embark on a darkly comic all day mission to flip a stolen laptop. O’Neill harbours an honest and authentic sense of grounded realism in both her handheld, close camera work and the clear trust she built with her lead actors. The results of which allow us to breathe and enjoy the pair’s nefarious odyssey without a sense of judgement or apathy for our protagonists because at the heart of the story lies a mother’s love and drive...

The Hollywood strikes may have wreaked havoc on the broadcast networks’ fall plans but it also paved the way for a Paramount+ Australia series to snag an unprecedented berth on CBS starting Nov. 14.
The creation of NCIS: Sydney marked the first time one of CBS Studios’ global drama franchises earned an international spinoff. Now, it’s giving CBS the opportunity to have original episodes of an NCIS show before the end of the year. The rest of CBS’ scripted series, including the NCIS mothership and NCIS: Hawaii, aren’t returning until February.
Here, creator Morgan O’Neill talks about the making of NCIS: Sydney, which follows a team of U.S. NCIS Agents and the Australian Federal Police (Afp), who are grafted into a multi-national taskforce to keep Naval crimes in check in the most contested patch of ocean on the planet.

Warning: This contains Major Spoilers for Our Flag Means Death season 2.
It’s probably safe to say that most Our Flag Means Death fans expected that the stars of season one – Taika Waititi as Blackbeard and Rhys Darby as Stede Bonnet – would remain the focus of season two. Oh, how surprisingly wrong we were.
Because, while Ed and Stede’s chaotic, high-octane and engrossing relationship is certainly still the main plot point of Our Flag Means Death on the face of it, as season two progresses we realize we’ve been hoodwinked: we thought we were watching the story of them finding each other again, but really we were watching Izzy Hands’ story all along.
We met Izzy as Blackbeard’s right-hand man and all-round bad boy in season one, and his character seemed hell-bent on keeping Blackbeard as merciless and ferocious a pirate captain as his reputation suggested, repeatedly...

It’s been 50 years since Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn (Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore) earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination for her role as Chris MacNeil, mom of Regan (Linda Blair), in the original The Exorcist film. Burstyn hasn’t been involved in any of The Exorcist projects since portraying the terrified mother of a young girl possessed by a demon in the 1973 blockbuster horror movie. However, The Exorcist: Believer managed to lure her back, and in this behind-the-scenes video, Burstyn discusses her return.
The Exorcist: Believer opens in theaters on October 6, 2023.
In addition to Ellen Burstyn, the cast includes Oscar nominee Leslie Odom, Jr (One Night in Miami), Lidya Jewett (Good Girls), Olivia O’Neill, Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale), Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles, and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz.
David Gordon Green directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Peter Sattler, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.

I’ve always defended Michel Franco, not that he requires further support from numerous areas of the industry. But he’s been something of a critical punching bag and dartboard target since his rise to relative acclaim, his festival placements and jury awards not translating to similarly good ink, or unignorable theatrical exposure. An important factor is the hangover from Haneke’s reign as the most influential Euro-festival auteur and attendant backlash that arose towards his punitive sensibility, especially those that imitated it. Franco, who first developed his career in the Mexican arthouse world, does indeed initiate a certain type of pain, but also much empathy.
Akin to Östlund, and especially Lanthimos, Franco has begun naturally integrating himself into a transnational mode, skipping between production scales and national tongues at ease. And Jessica Chastain, having now shot a second feature with him (under a SAG-AFTRA waiver), is threatening to become his Emma Stone.

He was taken to jail last Wednesday and released on a $3,500 bond. Frisco police said O’Neill was charged with misdemeanors for assault and public intoxication.
According to social media posts, O’Neill was in Frisco to record a podcast.
He first said in 2014 that he fired the shots that killed bin Laden in 2011. The U.S. government has not commented on O’Neill’s statement.
He also wrote a memoir, entitled The Operator, about his experience in the military.
O’Neill previously attracted media attention in 2020 when Delta banned him for removing his face mask on a flight when the airline was requiring all passengers to wear one due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It turns out "Our Flag Means Death" didn't get lost at sea after all: Vanity Fair has just shared an exclusive first look at season 2, complete with casting information, first-look photos, and character tidbits about all our favorite pirates. Among the revelations? That cast newcomer Minnie Driver is set to play Anne Bonny, Ed "Blackbeard" Teach (Taika Waititi) will indeed have a bit of a beard this season, and perpetually angry first mate Izzy Hands (Con O'Neill) will be "enraged by unrequited love," as O'Neill put it.
All the new info comes courtesy of a set visit from December 2022, and while a firm release date hasn't yet been announced for the hit Max rom-com, there's still plenty here worth getting excited about. An image of Driver's Bonny -- a real-life pirate who disappeared in 1721 but sailed the high seas around the same time as Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet --...

“Scream” star Neve Campbell has boarded the Toronto Film Festival-bound documentary “Swan Song,” about the National Ballet of Canada, as an executive producer.
Campbell, who is Canadian, is expected to attend Toronto in support of the film, which follows the ballet company as it mounts a new production of “Swan Lake” directed by ballet icon Karen Kain on the eve of her retirement.
The documentary will screen as part of the festival’s Special Presentations program. TIFF announced its official lineup on Monday, promising an array of world premiere titles despite the SAG-AFTRA actors strike, which will likely impede its red carpets.
“Swan Song” is directed by Chelsea McMullan, who wrote the film with producer Sean O’Neill. Distributed in Canada by Blue Ice Docs, with international sales handled by Dogwoof, the documentary will be released theatrically in Canada on Sept. 22. The project was developed with CBC and will air as...
