Question Time
The U.K.’s cross-party Dcms Committee, which scrutinizes the spending, policies and administration of the government Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, is set to interrogate BBC bosses on impartiality, the license fee and earnings.
The committee, which is chaired by Julian Knight, is set to convene on Tuesday, Sept. 6 to question BBC director general Tim Davie, BBC chair Richard Sharp and BBC COO Leigh Tavaziva. They will ask questions on topics including how the corporation “plans to remain relevant and effective in the modern media landscape,” “how the BBC’s offering is impacted by a more polarised political atmosphere” and the future of the license fee in light of soaring inflation rates.
Questions about impartiality will be particularly of interest to BBC watchers following a recent lecture by former “Newsnight” host Emily Maitlis at the Edinburgh TV Festival, where she used her platform to suggest the BBC was too objective.

Exclusive: Amazon Prime Video is opening its own Killer Camp. The streamer has ordered a Dutch adaptation of Tuesday’s Child Television’s slasher-horror whodunnit reality competition format.
Mediawan’s Skyhigh TV will produce the six-part series, which will see 11 well-known influencers from the Netherlands check in to the 80s American-style ‘Camp Pleasant.’ One of them hatches a murderous plan, forcing them all to ‘fight for their lives’ in a strategic game of cat and mouse while competing to expose the ‘killer’ among them for a share of the €20,000 cash prize.
By day, the campers navigate hilarious challenges as the ‘killer’ attempts to sabotage their efforts, implicating other players in the process. Once darkness descends, one is picked off and ‘murdered’ every night in the most gruesome and elaborately retro-themed ways possible.

The deal marks the latest sale of the six-part drama for Keshet International, which helped to finance the series with its Ki Content Fund and distributed globally. Endeavor Content handled the show in the U.S.
Produced by Ecosse Films and Great Meadow Productions, the drama brings to life one of the most controversial political sex scandals in the U.K. Known as the “Profumo Affair” of the 1960s, it saw the attempted cover-up of an affair between a British minister (Ben Miles) and model Christine Keeler (Sophie Cookson) that threatened to destroy the government.
The show — which premieres on HBO Max on Dec. 9 — recreates London during this period, though the story is told from Keeler’s perspective. BAFTA winner Amanda Coe (“Black Narcissus”) wrote the series, while Andrea Harkin served as director.

The BBC and ITV have agreed to fund a Dancing Ledge mentoring scheme for new writers and directors. With the funding, 16 “A-list” writers will select and guide a group of people looking to break into the television industry. The writers will receive a bursary to write a pilot episode for a series, while directors will be funded to work as a second unit director on a TV production. Past mentors have included Jed Mercurio, Jimmy McGovern, Jack Thorne and Lucy Prebble on the first iteration of the scheme in 2018. McGovern’s mentee Tony Schumacher was recently commissioned to pen BBC One drama The Responder, starring Martin Freeman. Dancing Ledge is backed by Fremantle and has made shows including Netflix original Delhi Crime.

Israeli commercial channel Keshet 12 has reordered Tedy Productions’ musical gameshow “Can’t Stop The Music,” 15 years after its original debut on the channel.
Formerly known as “All Together Now,” and renamed with new international title “Can’t Stop the Music,” Keshet 12’s initial order of five hour-long episodes is set to premiere in a primetime slot from Thursday.
Again produced by Tedy Productions, “Can’t Stop the Music” is led by “Rising Star” hosts Rotem Sela and Assi Azar. 2018 Eurovision winner Netta and Israeli pop star Mergui are among the celebrity talent taking part.
The run was filmed last week in a studio, and comes as the Israeli government has approved a series of steps to ease coronavirus lockdown restrictions, including a partial reopening of the economy and certain stores.
Alongside an expert improvisational pianist, two celebrity teams compete in the studio to win a series of musical challenges and puzzles, with viewers joining from home via video.
