Fans may be waiting a while for The Sandman Season 2, but a new TV series in the Sandman Universe is coming soon. As part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streaming service summoned a teaser for Dead Boy Detectives, an eight-episode series based on the DC Comics characters of the same name created by Matt Wagner and The Sandman mastermind Neil Gaiman. Dead Boy Detectives stars George Rexstrew as Edwin Payne and Jayden Revri as Charles Rowland, the titular detective agency’s brains and brawn, respectively. “Teenagers born decades apart who find each other only in death, Edwin and Charles are best friends and ghosts… who solve mysteries,” Netflix explains. “They will do anything to stick together — including escaping evil witches, Hell and Death herself. With the help of a clairvoyant named Crystal (Kassius Nelson) and her friend Niko (Yuyu Kitamura), they are able to crack some of the mortal...

At Tuesday’s New York’s premiere of Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City,” the star-studded cast had plenty to say about Hollywood’s writers strike.
Scarlett Johansson, Adrien Brody, Bryan Cranston and Rupert Friend revealed how they really feel about the face off between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers while walking the beige carpet at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
“Whatever happens moving forward will forever change how revenue is determined,” Johansson told Variety. “It’s a thing that has needed to happen for a long time, that we’ve been talking about for a long time, and it’s finally reached this breaking point. It’s important for all of us creatives to unite and support this massive shift so we can get over to the other side, which we will.”

Sean Bean and Miranda Richardson are set to star alongside John Malkovich in the biopic of Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache, Variety can reveal.
Also joining the cast is Ben Schnetzer (“The Book Thief”), who has replaced Rupert Friend after scheduling difficulties meant Friend had to drop out of the project. Schnetzer will play a young version of Celebidachi while Malkovich will play the conductor later in life.
They will be joined by Kate Phillips (“Downton Abbey”), Anton Lesser (“Game of Thrones”) and Charlie Rowe (“Rocketman”).
“The Yellow Tie” tells the story of controversial classical conductor Sergiu Celibidache, one of Romania’s best known classical music artists. He battled homelessness and prejudice before becoming the youngest ever conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Look near the top of Wes Anderson’s latest rolling cast and you’ll find Rupert Friend, who made a brief appearance in The French Dispatch, and a rare Wes first-timer, Maya Hawke. In Anderson’s characteristically decorative 1950s-set film, Hawke and Friend share a budding romance as, respectively, an elementary school teacher and a singing cowboy. After one conceit is revealed, they also appear as actors in a troupe reminiscent of The Group Theatre. They share the screen with everyone from Tom Hanks and Willem Defoe to Adrien Brody and Scarlett Johansson. Stars in a Wes Anderson these days are like dots to a Lichtenstein; but in Asteroid City, Hawke and Friend still manage to shine.
