At just 27, Jasper Soloff has gone from photographing his friends on the streets of New York City to working with A-list names like Billie Eilish, Suni Lee, and Gigi Hadid.
It's not hard to see why: his photography is instantly recognizable - bright colors, playful composition, a sense of realness with his subjects. And Soloff does this intentionally. He grew up as a dancer and switched to photography after getting hooked while taking an introductory class at Sarah Lawrence College. From there, he attended Central Saint Martins in London, and eventually found his voice as an artist by capturing celebratory and authentic moments with queer people.
"When I work with someone who's queer, there's a connection there no matter what.
As a queer man himself, Soloff seeks to bring identity to the forefront of the frame. One of his first breakthroughs was photographing the cast of "Pose," and ever since,...

I have to say that in my opinion there were some very questionable choices made in last weeks lip-sync LALAPaRuza challenge. That fact that Antrea went from one of the greatest lip-sync performances in the first round against the powerhouse that is Sasha Colby only to end up all the way down to the bottom three is totally absurd. If it was up to me I would have given both Sasha and Antrea the win as the talent on display during this performance was overwhelming! What is even crazier however is the fact that when Antrea was granted the opportunity to automatically save one of her fellow queens from the final battle she opted to save the weakest performer in the competition, Spice. While I totally understand the idea of respect and artist integrity, I would have chosen to battle against Spice as it would have been an easy win.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you haven’t watched the season finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 14 came to an end on Friday night, and Willow Pill was crowned America’s Next Drag Superstar. Willow Pill, a fan favorite from the beginning, beat out Lady Camden in a lip sync for the crown to Cher’s cover of Abba’s “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.”
While the grande finale Ru-vealed itself over 90 minutes, the filming took place a few weeks ago at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, home to the “RuPaul’s Drag Race Live!” show, and it came in at just under the five-hour mark.
This left room for plenty of fun gags that didn’t make the cut, and Variety was in the room where it happens for the uncut, unedited version.

The news is golden over at the Moulin Ru!
After weeks of guesses and eliminations, the RuPaul candy bar saved one lucky queen on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 14 Episode 12. It's a big surprise for a reveal we didn't see coming.
"Non-elimination March" finished its run with three weeks of a queen not going home. But did the Parisian festivities make up for another non-elimination round?
"Moulin Ru: The Rusical" packed plenty of drama and excitement to keep us hooked. Between the casting drama and the runway surprises, this round kept us fed with all the Drag Race shenanigans we love.
The golden candy bar twist? That reveal was the cherry on a stellar episode.
We don't typically need more than a classic Drag Race challenge, a stunning runway, and a strong lip-sync battle. But "Moulin Ru: The Rusical" brought more and more to the table, making this one of the...

Each week on “The Pit Stop,” Monét X Change runs down the tricks and trades of the newest episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” with a guest host. Following Friday’s sixth episode, season 12 finalist Gigi Goode and Monét agree that the season 14 girls are at the point in the competition where winning challenges matters and is setting you up for a finale run. They explain that that’s why some of the girls might be overly worried with their constant placement as “safe,” but in a design challenge the most important part of the runway is “selling the garment” and this week’s winner Jorgeous did just that. Watch the full episode above via the official RuPaul’s Drag Race channel on YouTube.

Last week on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” more than a couple bombs went off when the remaining six queens took the stage for a “Nice Girls Roast.” In an effort to throw deep shade at one another, including a collection of former Miss Congeniality winners, Utica Queen and Symone both fell flat, landing themselves in the bottom two. With its sassy hook and back-bending choreography, it’s easy to see why the “Drag Race” performance of “I’m That Bitch” enamored RuPaul, the panel, guest judge Nicki Minaj and the Television Academy, earning a whopping six Emmy nominations.
But the jaw-dropping routine would’ve looked very different had Minaj been secured for the Season 12 opener, TheWrap can exclusively reveal.
Beginning with Lady Gaga in Season 9, “RuPaul’s Drag Race” has invited pop culture icons to serve as judges for the premiere: Season 10 had Christina Aguilera and Season 11 Miley Cyrus.
“I will give you a little production tea about this first episode,” co-executive producer Mandy Salangsang teased. “Prior to securing her as our premiere judge, this was actually going to be a country song,” she revealed. “We had envisioned ‘I’m That Bitch’ as a country-rock challenge until Nicki Minaj was firmed up. The drag angels must’ve been looking down on us.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is here to slay another day. VH1’s Emmy-winning reality competition franchise has been greenlit for new seasons. This includes the original RuPaul’s Drag Race as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars and the behind-the-scenes aftershow Untucked
This will mark the 13th season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which recently celebrated its highest-rated season ever and earned 13 Emmy nominations. The series where drag queens compete to become “America’s Next Drag Superstar” has already won two Emmys for Outstanding Reality Competition Program while titular host and “Drag Race Mother“ RuPaul Charles snatched his fourth consecutive Emmy last year for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program. The show made history — or “herstory” — in 2019 as the first series to win Outstanding Host and Outstanding Reality Competition in the same year. This year, RuPaul could potentially make history with a 5th win for host.

The 12th season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” will go down in reality TV history for a number of ways. First and foremost, this was the installment that had to film its finale remotely from home because of the coronavirus pandemic. (Jaida Essence Hall was named the winner while Crystal Methyd and Gigi Goode tied for second place.) But perhaps most infamously, Season 12 will always be remembered for controversial contestant Sherry Pie, who was disqualified after filming wrapped and later edited out of episodes. Despite the setbacks, “Drag Race” is still predicted to win Best Competition Program at the 2020 Emmys for the third consecutive time.

Each year, the “Rusical” challenge on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a highly anticipated one. It’s a chance for the queens to truly flaunt their talents as they perform unique song-and-dance numbers. The 12th season came with a little more pressure, though, as the competing queens had to perform to some of Madonna’s greatest hits, while also donning her most iconic looks. From “Lucky Star” to “Like a Virgin,” the task to take queens of different musical skill levels and turn them into pop stars fell to choreographer Jamal Sims.

“Every year, we challenge ourselves to think of new and better things to do. We asked, ‘Why haven’t we done Madonna?’ We wanted to see how we could push the queens. With this group, we knew from their audition tapes that they were talented in a variety of ways and across the board.

After winning “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 12, Jaida Essence Hall had to accept her crown virtually as the coronavirus pandemic forced the finale to be filmed remotely from home. Luckily for Jaida, she still got to experience love and adoration from fans during a surprise car parade in her honor. “Love to love ya, baby,” tweeted World of Wonder, the show’s production company, along with video footage from Sunday’s parade (watch below). “The parade of cars in Milwaukee surprising America’s Next Drag Superstar @jaidaehall with a celebration is so amazing and pure.”

The queens came, they conquered, and now one has walked away with the crown!
Despite social-distancing across the country, the final three lipsynced virtually head-to-head on RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 14. No live audience to cheer them on; only green screens and filters to support their performances.
This finale will go down in the record books as a first for reality TV.
Before the queens lipsynced for the crown, there was some hesitation about how RuPaul and the team would pull this together. I mean, it's a finale that involves lipsyncs!
This isn't a reunion show that could easily be cut together like RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 13.
The grand finale involves lipsync battles and knocking each other out in stages. The format could potentially change, but there had to be some fairness to keep all the queens on the same playing field. Not all queens would have access to the same editing and technology.

Season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” wraps up with a nail-biter of a finale on May 29. Heading into episode 14 was a trio of talented queens: Gigi Goode, Jaida Essence Hall and Crystal Methyd. In the end, RuPaul Charles jumped for joy at Jaida’s lip syncs and named her America’s Next Drag Superstar. But was this the right decision?
Did Jaida deserve to win season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”? Or was Gigi robbed? And what about Crystal – should she have been given the $100,000 grand prize and a year’s supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics. Let your voice be heard. Cast your vote in our poll below and then sound off in our comments section.
Before voting, consider the track record of the three queens. Over the course of the first 12 episodes, Gigi Goode racked up four wins in episodes 4, 6,7 and 12 while Jaida Essence Hall was right behind her with three.

There's a new top queen in town. Season 12 of RuPaul's Drag Race has come to an end in an at-home finale that worked surprisingly well, and a new queen has been named America's Next Drag Superstar. Congratulations to...look over there! Jaida Essence Hall! Jaida very clearly slayed that final Destiny's Child lipsync as she slayed everything all season, though runners up Gigi Goode and Crystal Methyd were worthy opponents. We will never forget the joy we felt as we realized Crystal was performing "Like a Bird" as an actual bird. We feel absolutely certain that we will see these two queens again for an All Stars season. Season 12 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” came to a close on Friday, May 5th after a rollercoaster of a season that culminated in only three finalists competed in pre-recorded lip sync performances virtually from home. Finalists Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode and Jaida Essence Hall were three of four queens that lasted until the end of a season taped prior to the Covid-19 pandemic stay-at-home orders. The fourth queen, Sherry Pie, was notoriously disqualified from taking her earned spot in the grand finale after admitting to catfishing allegations prior to the airing of the season.

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Friday’s finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”)
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” crowned its Season 12 winner on Friday, capping off the season with a remotely filmed finale.
Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode and Jaida Essence Hall were the three finalists vying for prize and the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar in a series of at-home lip syncs, testing their ability to put on a show under any circumstances. The queens were challenged to prepare three performances: a close-up lip sync using just their faces, a solo in the homes where they’re quarantined, and a final lip sync for the crown.
Ultimately, Jaida Essence Hall came out on top, besting the other two queens with her final performance of Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” and walking away as the winner of Season 12.

When “RuPaul’s Drag Race” season 12 airs its grand finale on Friday, May 29th it will be like no other before it. Instead of the live Lip Sync for the Crown in front of an audience that we’re accustomed to from the last three seasons, this year’s finalists Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode and Jaida Essence Hall, will each showcase a solo lip sync virtually from home. After those three performances, RuPaul Charles will eliminate one of them, leaving the other two to battle it out head to head in one final lip sync to determine who takes the crown.
This season’s finalists could not be more different from one another so we’ve decided to shine a spotlight on each of them ahead of Friday’s finale. Below is our take on Gigi Goode, her journey to the finale and what it would mean to have her declared “America’s next drag superstar.

Another grand finale of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is upon us, where the last four queens battle it out for a spot in the coveted Hall of Fame. This year’s quartet of finalists are Gigi Goode, Jaida Essence Hall, Crystal Methyd and … no one. That’s right, there are only three queens remaining in the competition for Season 12 thanks to Sherry Pie being disqualified after admitting to catfishing and sexual misconduct. Since the finale is typically designed for four contestants — they lip sync against each other in pairs — should host RuPaul Charles invite back the fifth place contender, Jackie Cox, as you-know-who’s replacement? The Top 5 have to sing and dance their way into the finals. It's a tradition and rite of passage that many past queens have experienced. Sometimes it's a non-elimination round, while other times the final queen got chopped.
During RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 12, it was a medley of performance numbers from RuPaul's Drag Race Live! And yes, a queen did get eliminated.

There was a lot of uncertainty about how RuPaul's Drag Race would handle the transition from the taped episodes to the current finale stretch. We knew that Sherry had been disqualified by the airing of RuPaul's Drag Race Season 12 Episode 1, but as she made it farther into the competition, it seemed obvious she made the finals during the taped portion.

As the 12th season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” draws to a close, the final five reflected on their “report cards” as they eyed their own chances of advancing to the final. Although she was in the bottom two last week, Jaida Essence Hall has the best recent scores with two of her three wins coming just two weeks before. She’s tied with Gigi Goode, also with three total wins from the middle of the season, and followed by Sherry Pie who hit a plateau of safety after two wins in the beginning of the season. Last week Crystal Methyd earned her first win, leaving Jackie Cox at the back of the pack with five top scores but no overall wins.

Between the absence of the traditional “Ru-mix” and the results of that extremely close lip-sync battle, we’re officially filing Friday’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race under “polarizing.”
Following Gigi Goode’s victory in the mini challenge, she and the other remaining queens — Jaida Essence Hall, Crystal Methyd, Jackie Cox and Sherry Pie — learned that, instead of putting their individual spins on a RuPaul jam, they’d be performing a medley of numbers from RuPaul’s Drag Race Live! (That’s right, folks. Just like that Frozen-inspired runway a few weeks back, we’re once again...
