The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering 2001 Maniacs was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Robert Englund doing a demented Colonel Sanders impression. Lin Shaye putting on a deadly song and dance routine. Enough politically incorrect elements to offend pretty much everybody. Buckets of gore. Gratuitous nudity. And a cameo appearance by Eli Roth, playing his Cabin Fever character. Put all of this together and you get 2001 Maniacs (watch it Here). The director calls it a “splatstick” movie. Splatter combined with slapstick comedy. We call it The Best Horror Movie You Never Saw.
Herschell Gordon Lewis was a classy guy, but he specialized in making movies that were not classy. His aim was to give the grindhouse and drive-in crowds the things Hollywood wasn’t giving them. Noting...

As we prepare for David Bruckner’s new take on Clive Barker‘s iconic text Hellraiser, what better time to re-evaluate the state of the franchise up to this point?
Even a cursory glance at the ten existing Hellraiser films reveals that not all Cenobite films are made equal. And while the top film is a given, what about the other slots?
Here are my definitive rankings…
10 – Hellraiser: Revelations (2011)
Like many major horror series in the 2000s and beyond, Hellraiser properties were driven by rights issues. Revelations suffers as a result. Dimension Films needed to release a new film or else they would lose the rights, so Revelations was rushed into production and made on the cheap.
Fans of the franchise decried the loss of Doug Bradley, who for the first time refused to reprise his role as Pinhead (let’s be honest: replacement Stephan Smith Collins never stood a chance). Still,...

“You summoned us, we came.”
From Lionsgate UK, Hellraiser: Revelations – the ninth of the series – sees itself with disc and digital releases for the first time in the UK, ten years after its initial release. In the ten years of its existence, only one other Hellraiser film has followed – that being Hellraiser: Judgment, which too finds itself on disc and digital for the first time in the UK, released on the same day as its predecessor.
Hellraiser: Revelations opens from the Pov of a camcorder, which ironically matches the overall quality of this film. The found footage recordings display the laddish behaviour of two young men as they approach the border into Mexico. The boys, Nico and Steven, played by Jay Gillespie and Nick Eversman respectively,...

Robert Englund and Freddy Krueger. Not since Bela Lugosi and Dracula have a character and an actor been so deeply linked. And I would venture to say that not even Lugosi’s Dracula achieved the level of mainstream popularity achieved by Englund’s Krueger. During the late ’80s, you couldn’t turn on the television, open a magazine, or even look at a damn lunchbox without seeing Freddy’s charred face plastered on it. But that scorched visage would be nothing without Englund’s personality at the core of the character. Englund’s ability to imbue Krueger with such malicious delight struck a note with the public that just can’t be replicated. Jackie Earle Haley is a fantastic actor and did some interesting things in the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, but I never really felt like I was watching Freddy Krueger.

Writer and director Joe McClean is busy this week as the shoot for his new sci-fi thriller 'Life Tracker' has kicked off in La. Sexy 'Saw 3D' star Rebecca Marshall is amongst the cast that also includes both Matt Dallas and Barry Finnegan. Marshall was the unfortunate victim to one of Jigsaw's traps in which Bobby Dagen attempted to free her from her 'eye-catching' situation in the Kevin Greutert helmed final chapter of the 'Saw' franchise. Ron Canada, Jay Gillespie, Kimberly Adair, Bruna Matsin, Jeff Johnson and Jeannie Bolet all co-star in 'Life Tracker' which we expect to see a release later this year. The movie itself deals with a company that have managed to create a unique way in which they can predict biological events in a human's life by looking at their DNA. Check out the full plot synopsis below which was provided by McClean himself.

Two teenage boys, out for a good time in Tijuana, come across the box that summons Pinhead and his minions.
Cheap sequel meant to cash in on the popularity of the Hellraiser series. Being honest, Stephan Smith Collins is no Doug Bradley. Collins lacks the powerful presence that Bradley exuded in the role of Pinhead. Plot elements dealing with the Cenobites lack the pizazz or finesse of earlier entries. And the story involving a group of adults crying over their missing children is, well, dull. However, the story involving two teenage kids (Nick Eversman, Jay Gillespie) and how they get involved with the box is pretty interesting. In fact that is the best part about Hellraiser: Revelations. Dread Central hit the world premiere of the Image Entertainment and Ariescope Pictures anthology film Chillerama at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California, last Thursday, September 15th (see Part 1 here), and today we bring you Part 2 of our coverage. In this installment we provide interviews with one of the film's directors, Adam Rifkin, and cast members Lin Shaye, Gabby West, Kristina Klebe and more!
“We wanted from the start to make a movie that was a love letter to the movies that we loved growing up,” director Rifkin told us of their approach to the horror-comedy that is Chillerama, “(the type) that you don’t see getting made that often anymore and that you don’t see getting played that often anymore. When I was growing up in Chicago, they played these types of movies constantly on this show called ‘The Son of Svengoolie’, and that’s where I...

Dread Central hit the world premiere of the Chillerama anthology film (review here) at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California, last night and while on the red carpet chatted with the flick’s directors - Adam Green, Adam Rifkin, Joe Lynch, Tim Sullivan - and more before taking in the screening with an enthusiastic and boisterous audience of over 3,000. Read on for Part 1 of our coverage and some ocular candy!
For those unfamiliar with Hollywood Forever, the cemetery has in recent years become a mecca for cineastes with summer film screenings taking place on its grounds nearly every weekend (films are projected onto the wall of its massive mausoleum). Hundreds gather for these events, and last night was no exception. Food trucks abounded as the vociferous audience - toting blankets and bottles of wine - set up on the lawn in anticipation. So here's the long and short of it, in order for Dimension to keep the rights to the "Hellraiser" franchise, they need to make something fast. And so they did. And the resulting "Hellraiser: Revelations" as you can see below looks every bit like the cheap rights-retaining production it set out to be. Marking the first time Doug Bradley isn't portraying the iconic Pinhead--some guy named Jay Gillespie steps in instead--the franchise is now scraping the bottom of the barrel with the cheapie sequel specialist Víctor García ("Mirrors 2," "Return to House on Haunted Hill") being given $75 and an…...

Dimension Extreme is really pushing out Hellraiser: Revelations, the Victor Garcia-directed sequel that will open in limited theaters September 2, with a VOD launch on September 1. The gates of Hell will then open on DVD October 18. Already having shared with you guys the trailer, poster and handful of stills, Bloody now scored an exclusive deleted scene that features a bum explaining that the Lament Configuration will bring these kids the ultimate experience. It gets a little long in the tooth, with some gnarly acting, which is probably why it was trimmed. Starring Steven Brand as the new Pinhead, alongside Daniel Buran, Jolene Andersen, Nick Eversman, Stephen Smith Collins and Jay Gillespie, "Two friends in Mexico discover the Lament Configuration and unleash Pinhead, but one decides to try to survive by swapping himself with someone else. If you knew it was happening at all, your expectations for the ninth instalment in the original Hellraiser franchise may have been somewhat low. Prepare to drop them further, if you dare to take a look at the trailer for Hellraiser: Revelations. To recap, this is a stopgap release from Dimension, to prevent their rights lapsing before Patrick Lussier can get going on his reboot, which ought to be a bigger deal. Revelations was knocked together in record time on a tiny budget (estimated at under a million bucks), circumstances it's apparently attempted to get around by going the found-footage route to some extent. Sadly, on this evidence, it still plays like a fan film, an impression not helped by Stefan Smith Collins' karaoke Pinhead. Doug Bradley, probably wisely, wasn't interested.Nick Eversman (Vampires Suck) and Jay Gillespie (2001 Maniacs) star as Steve and Nico, backpackers in Mexico looking for dodgy new experiences and,...

Ouch.
So, there’s been all sorts of confusion and drama on the latest Dtv sequel, Hellraiser: Revelations, coming to VOD on September 1st, then on DVD October 18th. First, fans were confused as if this was going to be the rumored remake or a direct sequel to the long-running series. Then, Doug Bradley confirmed, for the first time that he will not reprise the character of Pinhead, which immediately outraged fans.
From here, lots of hush-hush from the filming, followed by a sneaky limited theatrical run, which lasted like two weeks in L.A., and now, probably the most hilarious thing of all, is that Clive Barker took to Twitter to announce his final thoughts on the 9th film:
“Hello,my friends. I want to put on record that the flick out there using the word Hellraiser Is No F*Ckin’ Child Of Mine!” he screams via Twitter. “I...

Synopsis - Two friends in Mexico discover the Lament Configuration and unleash Pinhead, but one decides to try to survive by swapping himself with someone else. Once they go missing, family members go in search of them but find Pinhead instead. Pinhead makes his return to the silver screen, but that isn't quite the quality I was hoping or expecting. Obviously this is a low budget production, and doesn't seem worthy of the title, "Hellraiser." Hellraiser: Revelations, directed by Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2), stars Steven Brand, Daniel Buran, Jolene Andersen, Nick Eversman, Stephen Smith Collins, and Jay Gillespie. Here's your first look a the new Hellraiser: Revelations horror film. To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of the Hellraiser franchise. I've seen many of the films, but they aren't movies that I find myself watching over and over again. I saw the original film when I was young, and it freakin' jacked me up. Jack the Reaper is another film from American World Pictures, which was previously titled One-by-One: Death's Door (Dread). The film stars the prolific actor Tony Todd (Hatchet II), Sally Kirkland (Bruce Almighty), and Douglas Tait (Freddy vs. Jason), in a real coming of age film. Instead of getting their first razor, several teenagers learn about the industrial revolution the hard way, by sharp axe and disfigured monster. The first trailer for Jack the Reaper was released last week and the clip is reposted here, for those who missed it.
The synopsis for Jack the Reaper:
"A group of teens set out on a field trip to a railroad museum only to encounter "Railroad Jack," who makes sure their bus crashes and forces them to explore his carnival, as he picks them off one at a time" (Dread).
Director/writer: Kimberly Seilhamer.
Cast: Chris Bruno, Jay Gillespie, and Joel Bryant.

Three surefire signs that your life expectancy in a teen horror flick is fleeting: you break down in the desert, you find an abandoned carnival, and Tony Todd is talking to you in his creepy voice. All three are on display in the trailer for the new teen slasher Jack the Reaper. Nice knowin' ya!
American World Pictures acquired the film originally titled One-by-One: Death's Door at last year's American Film Market and has since changed the title to the better, yet more gimmicky Jack the Reaper. In the film from writer-director Kimberly Seilhamer, a group of teens set out on a field trip to a railroad museum only to encounter "Railroad Jack", who makes sure their bus crashes and forces them to explore his carnival as he picks them off one at a time.
Why a "railroad reaper" lurks in a carnival strikes me as one of those questions...

Victor Garcia director of Hellraiser: Revelations is getting his kill on for an additional three days of shooting. The plan is to add to the film’s death tally and beef up the movie with some more blood and gore. The production team is currently casting new actors, presumably for the cenobites to drag screaming off to hell. This latest trek into the Hellraiser universe was filmed in a mere two weeks and sadly minus Doug Bradley in the iconic role of Pinhead. Jay Gillespie plays Nico, a young man who takes on the role of Pseudo Pinhead in the film, and IMDb lists Stephan Smith Collins as the newly recast Pinhead. Early Synopsis: “Pinhead is back and in his chamber of soulless delights. He thought he had two willing participants in Steven and Nico. But Nico wants out and decides that a member of Steven’s family will serve...

Sally Kirkland is in it! It's getting distributed!
There are "unsuspecting teens", a "desert carnival" called Death's Door, and a 'Railroad reaper" (whatever the fuck that is!) and it was shot in California's parched and heated Mojave desert. There are also stuffed animals, a haunted mansion ride, and lots of wind (according to IMDb. I'm doing my best, here). Basically, I love horror directed by women, and it is very rare to see a slasher film directed by a woman, especially these days.
Low budget staple Tony Todd (Candyman) plays the museum curator, Douglas Tait (Freddy vs. Jason) is the slasher Railroad Jack, and Sally Kirkland plays a grandma. What a great role for a woman! Not.
One By One is the directing debut of Kimberly Seilhamer who also wrote the thrillers Inside Irvin and The Keyman.

Judging by these pictures of the all new Pinhead it looks like filming on Dimension Films controversial new entry in the Hellraiser franchise, Hellraiser: Revelations, is underway. The film follows:
…two friends who unleash Pinhead, who becomes their master of pain. Apparently, one of the friends has a change of heart. He backs out on his oath hoping to swap himself out with one of his friend’s family members. Steven (Eversman) kicks off the mayhem while on a backpacking trip in Mexico with his friend Nico (Gillespie). On their trip the duo are presented with a choice to “experience a reality beyond current existence”thanks to the infamous puzzle box. Pinhead becomes his master. The story continues as Nico realizes that he’s commitment to Pinhead forever, and thus attempts a daring switch plan to release himself from the puzzle box. But apparently things go wrong as he’s...

It's hard to imagine anyone but the great Doug Bradley in the make-up as the iconic Pinhead, but like it or not, it is happening. Replacing Bradley is actor Stephan Smith Collins, and we've got your first look at him in character.
Styd scored the first images (click the link to see the other) from the flick which you can see below. Shock indicates that they're not sure if this is Pseudo Pinhead or the master himself, but for our money Stephan Smith Collins still comes through no matter the make-up. Dig on the images below and let us know what you think.
Collins is joined by Devon Sorvari, Steven Brand, Sanny Van Heteren, Tracey Fairaway, Daniel Buran, Nick Eversman, and Jay Gillespie, who will star as "Nico/Pseudo-Pinhead". Director Victor Garcia (Mirrors 2) is directing from Gary J. Tunnicliffe's script.

Well here you go army, it's our first look at Pinhead courtesy of ShockTillYouDrop. Stephan Smith Collins or is it Jay Gillespie (IMDb has him as Niko and Pseudo-Pinhead) is the new demon, we'll see who actually takes over the reigns as our favorite Cenobite from Hell in Hellraiser: Revelations. Victor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill, Mirrors 2) is directing from a screenplay by long-time Hellraiser FX artist Gary J. Tunicliffe.
Go ahead and tell us/let them know what you think!
Plot:
Hellraiser: Revelations follows two friends who unleash Pinhead, who becomes their master of pain. Apparently, one of the friends has a change of heart. He backs out on his oath hoping to swap himself out with one of hi friend's family members. ...

What a great way to liven up a dull Tuesday afternoon. Shock Till You Drop have got their mitts on two stills depicting the new Pinhead in Hellraiser: Revelations. The movie was steamrollered into production due to Dimension Films losing the rights to the series in 2011 if a new instalment wasn’t made. Hence this new stab.
So what do you think of this new Pope of Pain? Is he a match for Doug Bradley’s creation? Maybe that isn’t the point. After all, this new character is called Pseudo-Pinhead and will be played by Stephen Smith Collins. No, me neither.
Hellraiser: Revelations is a stand alone entry into the canon and is what was once known as a quota quickie. Victor Garcia is directing from a Gary Tunicliffe screenplay.
Tuncliffe’s script sees two friends played by Jay Gillespie and Nick Eversman backpacking in Mexico who stumble across...

There’s been quite a bit of behind the scenes movement on the latest entry in the Hellraiser series, Hellraiser: Revelations – and there has to be, the film needs to be in the can by the end of the year in order for Dimension to retain the rights to the franchise. According to Bloody Disgusting, the cast of the movie is now almost complete – it includes Devon Sorvari (The Dark, The Realm), Steven Brand (as “Dr. Ross Craven”), Sanny Van Heteren (as “Kate Bradley”), Tracey Fairaway (as “Emma”) and Daniel Buran (as “Vagrant”).
Also cast in the film – which is currently filming in Los Angeles under the direction of Víctor Garcia (Return to House on Haunted Hill, Mirrors II) - are Nick Eversman (Vampires Suck) as “Steven” and Jay Gillespie will star as “Nico, aka Pseudo-Pinhead”. But the biggest announcement is about this guy:

Dimension Films have rushed like the wind to get a new Hellraiser film into the can otherwise they’d lose the franchise rights by the end of this year. So now we have Hellraiser: Revelations in production out in Los Angeles, making it the ninth film in the series. Wow.
Of course what studio execs and Clive Barker want is a proper remake, but Dimension Films are dragging their feet over that one. So we’ll have Hellraiser: Revelations, a low budget quota-quickie directed by Mirrors 2 helmer Victor Garica, screenplay by Gary Tuncliffe.
Doug Bradley for the first time in the series twenty-three years history will not be playing Pinhead. Maybe even he got fed up! Instead Bloody Disgusting report Stephan Smith Collins has been cast to play the iconic Pope of Pain.

Bloody Disgusting has news on who is playing the new Pinhead in the upcoming low budget horror sequel Hellraiser: Revelations. I wasn't even aware they were still making these damn movies. Here's the scoop from Bd:We've been doing some hard digging over the past week and finally got exclusive confirmation that Stephan Smith Collins (pictured below - he looks pretty badass) will star as your new Pinhead in Victor Garcia's Hellraiser: Revelations. FX specialist Gary J. Tunnicliffe penned the screenplay that follows two friends who unleash Pinhead, who becomes their master of pain. Apparently, one of the friends has a change of heart. He backs out on his oath hoping to swap himself out with one of his friend's family members. Just how bad were the last few Hellraiser sequels? I ask because the absolute last straw for me was the one in which Dean Winters fell victim to an inexplicably malicious Kirsty Cotton. And now it seems Dimension has gone ahead with a sequel so sloppy and half-assed that Doug Bradley has decided he won't be involved. What can that possibly tell you about the quality?
Regardless, the ever-diligent folks at Bloody-Disgusting have learned who will be stepping into Pinhead's robe for the upcoming Hellraiser: Arbitrary Noun Here. Stephan Smith Collins (pictured, right) will play the Lead Cenobite, as he menaces a duo who've somehow opened the puzzle box. He'll be joining the previously announced Devon Sorvari, Steven Brand, Sanny Van Heteren, Tracey Fairaway, Daniel Buran, Nick Eversman, and Jay Gillespie who will star as "Nico / Pseudo-Pinhead".

Update: And B-d has a look at who has been cast As Pinhead right here . Filming wraps this week on Hellraiser: Revelations , believe it or not. When you told you this one was going to go quick, we meant quick . Victor Garcia is at the helm and we've got details on who is starring. Nick Eversman, Steven Brand, Tracey Fairaway, Jay Gillespie, Sanny Van Heteren, Daniel Buran and Devon Sorvari lead the cast. Unfortunately, the Peta Wilson revealed elsewhere was prematurely announced. What's worth noting is that on the IMDb, actor Jay Gillespie (pictured) is listed as "pseudo Pinhead." As you all know, Doug Bradley - who played Pinhead through eight films - turned down the opportunity to return. Gillespie is clearly much younger, so I wonder how that affects the...

In his short film career, Jay Gillespie has already had the distinct privilege of working with two horror icons—Tony Todd ("Candyman") and Robert Englund ("Nightmare on Elm Street"). And it was through Back Stage that Gillespie booked the lead in "One by One: Death's Door" featuring Todd and Oscar nominee Sally Kirkland. "We exchanged emails and everything like that. He's ginormous in real life," Gillespie says of Todd. "He has this very deep, throaty voice and he would say, 'Just keep doing it,' [of acting]. He wanted me to be in 'Hatchet 2.' He was like, 'You'd be perfect for it, buddy.' And I was like, 'I think it's cast already.' And he said, 'So what? Talk to your manager.'" In "One by One," Gillespie plays Shawn Hickey, a metal guitarist on a field trip gone horribly wrong when the bus crashes in the desert. It definitely...

Strand Releasing
NEW YORK -- Style takes precedence over content in this fourth installment of Strand Releasing's popular series of gay-themed short-film compilations. Perhaps the weakest edition of the series, "Boys Life 4: Four Play" features a quartet of efforts more reflective of the filmmakers' career aspirations than of a desire for meaningful expression. The film is playing an exclusive theatrical engagement at New York's Quad Cinema.
The opener, "L.T.R.", from writer-director Phillip J. Bartell, at least displays a timeliness in its satirical look at reality TV, which this summer has been on a particularly gay-oriented bent. It depicts the unraveling of the so-called "long-term relationship" between pot-smoking, stay-at-home Riley (Weston Mueller) and the younger, party-animal Michael (Cole Williams), a relationship not at all helped by the sexual fling between Michael and the filmmaker documenting their story.
Another rocky relationship is examined in Brian Sloan's "Bumping Heads", depicting the developing friendship between thirtysomething Craig (Craig Chester) and much younger Gary (Anderson Gabrych), who meet when their noggins collide at a party. Craig wants the relationship to progress into something more romantic but is unable to act on his desire until yet another incident of head bumping lands him in the hospital.
The most serious entry, Alan Brown's "O Beautiful", uses the Matthew Shepard incident for inspiration in its depiction of the aftermath of a gay-bashing incident in which a young man (Jay Gillespie) has been left for dead in a Midwestern cornfield. One of his attackers (David Rogers) returns to help him, with his true motivations only gradually becoming clear. Its extensive use of split screen is more distracting than illuminating.
But not as distracting as it is in "This Car Up", Eric Mueller's trivial depiction of the "meet cute" between a yuppie exec (Michael Booth) and a sinewy bike messenger (Brent Doyle), in which the relentless use of split screen is as annoying gimmicky as it's been in Mike Figgis' feature-length experiments.
