Priyanka Chopra-Produced Doc Debuting On Prime Video India
Women of My Billion (Womb), a documentary about the forms of violence faced by women in India, will premiere exclusively on Prime Video India on May 3. Produced by Apoorva Bakshi and Monisha Thyagarajan’s Awedacious Originals in association with Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures, the documentary follows protagonist Srishti Bakshi on a walking pilgrimage across India – spanning 3,800 km over 240 days – to talk to women from various backgrounds about their struggles and dreams. “Women have borne the brunt of gender bias for far too long, enduring a silent struggle against entrenched social injustices that seek to suppress their voices. With Womb, the aim is to transcend these struggles – to be a beacon of hope,” said Chopra Jonas, Producer at Purple Pebble Pictures. “Womb is not merely a depiction of pain and suffering, but a rallying cry and call for solidarity and action.

Mixed martial arts outfit Professional Fighters League (Pfl) has acquired Bellator from Paramount Global, saying the deal includes top fighters and creates “a roster now equal in stature to UFC.”
Financial details weren’t disclosed. The deal comes after Paramount announced last month it plans to shut the sports operations at Showtime by the end of the year in an ongoing overhaul of the network.
All newly acquired Bellator fighters will become part of the Pfl platform and available to compete in Pfl fight franchises. As a result, the league said, Pfl and UFC now both showcase rosters that are 30% comprised of fighters who are top 25 independently world-ranked in their weight-classes, and Pfl with Bellator now has the best roster of women’s fighters in the world.

Paramount has cut a deal to sell off its Bellator mixed martial arts promotion.
The company is selling a majority stake in Bellator to the Professional Fighters League (Pfl), an upstart Mma promotion that was created to take on the UFC, which is the dominant player in the space.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but previous reports had pegged the value of Bellator at around $500 million. Paramount will retain a minority stake in the combined company.
Donn Davis, the founder of Pfl, announced the acquisition Monday morning, writing that its fighter roster is now equal to that of the UFC, and that it will relaunch the Bellator brand next year.
Pfl received a substantial investment from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund earlier this year, and also counts Kevin Hart, Mark Burnett and Wiz Khalifa as minority owners.

The Professional Fighters League and Sugar23 have partnered together on a new studio. The partnership will focus on two main areas — producing mixed martial arts (Mma) content that will not air live, as well as creating entertainment opportunities for the league’s star fighters.
The new content collaboration will include both long and short-form content, designed to be featured on various media platforms.
Sugar23 will also develop and foster opportunities for fighters to appear in entertainment projects and will lead efforts with Pfl Studios to create and field opportunities to develop and monetize the profiles and personal brands of these athletes.
Mixed Martial Arts has a global audience of 550 million fans, which it says makes it the third largest sports audience, behind only soccer and basketball. Its fans are also younger and more digitally engaged than the audiences for other sports, making them a coveted demographic. The Pfl is the...
