There are two questions a viewer might ask going into the third season of Bosch. The first is what Bosch offers that other television shows about homicide detectives do not, and the second is what a third season of Bosch offers that the first two seasons did not.
The first of these answers comes easily: Bosch offers one of the most patient, intelligent, intriguing police procedural narratives on television, eschewing cliffhangers and easy answers while embracing slow pacing, character development, and escalating tension. Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) is a compelling character, a far-from-perfect father chased by his childhood demons. The directing, the acting, and the writing all hold attention and merit high ratings. Even the cinematography deserves praise. Unlike many other mystery shows – think Foyle’s War or Sherlock – Bosch does not fall apart with hokiness when it comes time for a shootout or car chase.

Exclusive: For the first time ever a film festival will overlap the Bogota Audiovisual Market (Bam) in July as Colombia’s film chiefs look to turn the summer corridor into a creative and business platform for the country’s booming film industry.
IndieBo co-founders Paola Turbay and Juan Carvajal have moved from last year’s inaugural September weekend slot to July 16-26.
The sixth annual Bam, managed by the Bogota Chamber Of Commerce and national body Proimágenes Colombia, runs from July 13-17.
While here is no official link yet and the overlap is short, market director Juliana Ortiz along with Turbay and Carvajal are hopeful of a productive synergy.
Indeed it is understood some IndieBo guests have already begun scheduling Bam meetings into their agendas.

In the upcoming "Killer Women" episode, "The Siren," Texas Ranger Molly Parker (Tricia Helfer) meets a singer named Carmen at a bar while investigating. Is Carmen a killer? Or does she just kill it at karaoke?
It seems that a woman was badly beaten at the bar the night before -- although it doesn't sound like she died as a result. This victim seems to be the latest for a serial killer who kills women that remind her of her own abusive mother. Could Carmen (guest star Paola Turbay) be that killer?
Also in "The Siren," Molly introduces Dan (Marc Blucas) to her family and Becca (Marta Milans) makes plans for Hailee's Quinceanera.
The "Siren" episode of "Killer Women" airs Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 10 p.m on ABC.

The moment that many True Blood fans have been waiting for happened this week as Sookie (Anna Paquin) finally succumbed to her urges regarding Eric (Alexander Skarsgård). This was aided by his new state of mind that has revealed a side of Eric that Sookie always thought was present below his hard exterior. Now Eric is feeling guilty for all that he has done in the past, even if he can't remember these terrible actions. A visit in a dream from his maker Godric (Allan Hyde) who he has no recollection of, prompted feelings of sorrow and guilt. It was this contrition that led to Sookie acting on these feelings and initiating a kiss. We have seen before that Sookie is sexually attracted to Eric not just from his blood infused dreams, but it was his harsh personality and her connection to Bill (Stephen Moyer) that have previously stood in the way.

Because we all know that just watching the new episode’s of True Blood isn’t enough, there’s a new video from MTV News where a number of new cast members talk about their characters and what makes them tick.
First up is Aaron Perilo who plays the new vampire Blackburn. He describes him as a vamp that’s been around the block a couple times and knows some tricks. He’s got attitude and loves getting into all kinds of trouble. Next we take a look at some of the witches introduced this season, starting with the top dog Marnie, played by Fiona Shaw. She teases that Marnie is a bad witch who will become very powerful, but also describes her as being lonely and isolated. Maybe there’s more beneath the surface? Other witches in the wiccan group are Dean Chelcvala and Fiona Dourif who play Roy and Casey respectively.

For all the "True Blood" fans out there, the wait from the end of one season to the start of a new one can be quite grueling. So much so that HBO employed the Twitter hashtag #waitingsucks in its "True Blood" marketing campaigns — and fans couldn't agree more.
Luckily, the waiting game is about to end with the premiere of the fourth season on HBO this Sunday. MTV News spent some quality time with the cast at the show's premiere earlier this week, where we asked the newest faces of "True Blood" to introduce themselves to fans. Very minor spoilers ahead.
"I play Naomi, I am a good friend of Tara," newcomer Vedette Lim told us.

Paola Turbay has joined HBO's drama True Blood as a recurring. She will play Antonia. We don't know much about her except for the fact that she speaks fluent Spanish. When I see two episodes in a row that disappoint, I start getting worried. I start having flashbacks to most of season 2, where I spent my Thursday nights wailing in utter woe at most (not all) of season 2's episodes. Now, I can safely say, I am not impressed with the subplot of this half of the season: the "wedge" being driven between Team Lisbon while hunting out Red John's new mole. This episode of The Mentalist (TV) probably has one of the most boring cases I've seen in a while. While a Mixed Martial Arts fight is raging upstairs, a vendor lady finds a dead girl in a locker backstage. I am suspending my recaps of The Closer. Initially, I was attracted to summarizing one of my favorite quirky dramas with the added bonus of what the press releases were calling a recurring lesbian character, played by former Miss Columbia, Paola Turbay. This character was supposed to be tough, hard-driving, and punishing. What could be better than that?
Well, present would be nice.
Paola Turbay doesn’t know when Detective Mikki Mendoza will be appearing on The Closer again. Responding to my tweet from a few days ago, the lovely Columbian replied that she loved the character, but didn’t know if or when when she would be back.
This is disappointing that a lesbian character was billed for the show, and at this point is a relative no show. As I commented in my recap last week, from what we have been given of the character, how are we...

The Closer</i>" style="margin:0 5px 5px" />This week on TNT's The Closer (Mondays, 9 pm), Detective Mikki Mendoza makes a lasting first impression as a Special Investigation Section officer who can kick butt with the best of them. That trait, among other things, draws the interest of Sanchez, who's overdue for some happiness. But is the match not meant to be? Guest star Paola Turbay told us about a roadblock to romance and her other summer gigs — as a nurse facing down Armageddon and an American Teenager's mom.
TVGuide.com: You've got a busy summer coming up.
Paola Turbay: Yeah, in fact last night I was on TVGuide.com and I saw that I'm on a whole bunch of things this month.
TVGuide.com: Starting with The Closer, how do we meet Detective Mikki Mendoza?

Lesbian/bi visibility on primetime American television this summer is not much better than it is the rest of the year — which is to say, it's pretty slim pickings.
Among the shows premiering or returning in the next few weeks, there are a few with supporting lesbian/bi characters (Mental, The Closer); one with an out actress in a supporting role (Hawthorne); and a reality show featuring two out female contestants (Top Chef Master).
Here's a review of the pilot or first new episode(s) of all four series, and a short list of the premiere/air dates of other shows that may interest you.
Warning: some mild spoilers, but no major plot points revealed
Mental (Drama, Fox)
Dates: Tuesdays at 9pm Pst/Est, premiering May 26
Cast: Chris Vance (Prison Break), Annabella Sciorra (Queens Supreme, The L Word), Derek Webster (Stargate), Jacqueline McKenzie (4400), Marisa Ramirez (General Hospital), Nicholas Gonzalez (CSI: Miami...

Paola Turbay has been cast in the The Closer's recurring lesbian detective role we mentioned in February.
The actress, who was born in Houston, TX but raised in Bogotá, was crowned Miss Colombia in 1991, and went on to develop an acting career in Colombian and then American television.
Turbay has recently guest starred in several episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and also stars in the popular CBS online series Novel Adventures, about a book club.
She played the wife of Jimmy Smits character in the short-lived CBS series Cane from 2007-2008.
"They were looking for a latina detective for this fifth season [of The Closer], a physically strong and efficient woman" Turbay told Colombian newspaper El Tiempo. "I went to do the audition and the next Friday I was in a meeting with all the actors receiving the scripts."
Det. Mendoza is the chief of an Lapd assistance squad.

Las Vegas -- Two packed sessions at Natpe on Thursday morning offered tips on developing a Web series and strategies on making it a hit.
The sessions took place on the final day of the confab on the exhibition floor, something new the organization implemented this year.
CBS Interactive senior vp/Gm Anthony Soohoo and Mark Grossan, producer of Web series "Novel Adventures," talked about the show's creation. The producers came to CBS Interactive with a sponsor, Saturn, already attached, which Soohoo admitted made it "a lot easier" to greenlight.
"But we do look at projects with no sponsor; we also try to determine if there is potential for it to live on air as a series, or we will work with the content creators to find a sponsor," Soohoo said.
Grossan said he and "Novel" creator Jonathan Prince are now developing the series into a traditional series to pitch...

CBS Interactive is gearing up to make a strong push with original programming for multi-platform delivery. They announced that it will partner with Saturn to craft Novel Adventures which will star Daphne Zuniga (One Tree Hill).
The premise follows four female friends who perform activities based on moments taken from classic books such as the first episode when they go fishing ala Ernerst Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea.
The series, debuting November 3, was created by Jonathan Prince (The Cleaner, Cane) and will be first made available for 48 hours at CBS.com, TheInsider.com and TV.com followed by a broader rollout across the CBS Audience Network.
"We get to tell great stories with an A-plus cast and crew, Saturn gets creative and seamless promotion for its new line of cars and CBS Interactive offers its flagship Web sites and Audience Network high production-value content," Prince told The Hollywood Reporter.
