Only a select few people are lucky enough to be serenaded by Jennifer Hudson on their birthday, and the singer's son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., is one of them. In a video shared on Instagram on Aug. 10, Hudson celebrated her only child's 14th birthday by singing a few notes of "Happy Birthday" to the teen. But before she got to the singing portion of his special day, Hudson let her son show off his basketball skills for the camera.
In the video, David wears a red t-shirt with the number 13 on it as he tosses around a basketball. "What's happening? Why you got that 13 on?" Hudson teased her son. "Ain't you 14 today?" David responded by telling his mom that he was wearing the same shirt he wore a year ago on his birthday.
When Hudson asked him how old he is now, David grinned as he replied, "14 now." The reality...

NBA fans Jimmy and Kevin Kimmel recently enjoyed a night out at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. On March 26, the TV host and his 29-year-old son watched courtside as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Lakers, joining Jennifer Hudson and her 13-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., in the front row. In casual jeans and a black shirt, Kevin was the spitting image of Jimmy, who matched his son in a denim shirt, a black puffer vest, and black pants.
While late-night fans are likely familiar with Jimmy's youngest children with wife Molly McNearney - 8-year-old Jane and 5-year-old Billy - he's also a father to two adult kids. The dad of four shares Kevin and Katie, 31, with his ex-wife Gina Kimmel, whom he split from in 2003. Kevin married longtime love Nicole Francisca Quiroz in 2022, and has worked in the entertainment industry over the years, with credits both as...

Jennifer Hudson and her 13-year-old son, David Daniel Otunga Jr., had a rare family outing on Sunday evening. On March 26, the mother-son duo sat courtside as the Chicago Bulls beat the Lakers in Los Angeles. The basketball fans laughed and smiled for cameras from their front-row seats as they enjoyed the game, which included LeBron James's return after missing 13 games due to injury.
Hudson wore a casual denim-on-denim outfit with sneakers and sunglasses, while her mini-me similarly dressed in a laid-back all-black ensemble. The powerhouse and talk show host is no stranger to a sporting event. In fact, Hudson and her son have been spotted at several basketball games in the past. The two recently traveled to Salt Lake City in February and Cleveland back in 2022 for NBA All-Star Weekend events.
"Now when did my son get taller than me?!!" the Egot winner wrote alongside clips and photos from their family weekend on Instagram.

It's always been a dream of Jennifer Hudson's to play Aretha Franklin, and after years of waiting, it has finally come true. For the LA premiere of Respect on Aug. 8, Jennifer looked every bit the successor to Aretha's Queen of Soul moniker in custom Dolce and Gabbana. "She's always been one of my idols," the 39-year-old told ConciergeQ. "And then for her to pick me to do this is beyond a blessing, a dream, an honor, I do not take it lightly. And I just wanted to give every bit of my all to pay tribute to her." This isn't the first time Jennifer has gushed about the legendary singer, as she's frequently talked about the pressure to live up to Aretha's expectations.
The entire red carpet was a celebration of the life, love, and legacy of Aretha, with Jennifer's son David Otunga Jr. joining her for the premiere.
