Yoda became a significant pop culture icon after his debut in 1980’s Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back. Despite the mysterious nature of the character, the audience became fascinated with it and he went on to be a significant figure among the fans.

The reigning Queen of Comic-Con and the ultimate science fiction superstar, Sigourney Weaver, might be gearing up to conquer yet another interstellar franchise.
Weaver is in talks to join the cast of the Star Wars film, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” Variety has confirmed.
Earlier this year, Lucasfilm announced the standalone spinoff featuring Pedro Pascal as the stoic bounty hunter known as “The Mandalorian” (or Djarin to fans deep in the franchise) and his disarmingly charming puppet counterpart Grogru. Created by Jon Favreau for Disney+, the series followed the odd couple as they traipse across the galaxy far, far away avoiding the Empire and safeguarding the adorable green creature whilst forging a relationship for the ages. It’s part Western, part monster-of-the-week with delightful cameos from Star Wars universe legacy characters sprinkled in now and again.

Star Wars is a franchise known for having villains as rich as the heroes. The films have featured iconic villains such as the Sith Lords Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. However, The Mandalorian introduced viewers to a different kind of negative force in the form of the ever-conniving Moff Gideon, played by Giancarlo Esposito.
Moff Gideon’s true goal in The Mandalorian remains a mystery.
Gideon served as the primary antagonist for the first three seasons of The Mandalorian. However, despite his ruthless pursuit of Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, little has been revealed about the motivations and true objectives of Gideon. As a result, there has been speculation among fans about Gideon’s eventual goal, which just might be to follow in Vader’s footsteps and become a Sith Lord.

In great news for fans of Baby Yoda, Buzz and Woody, and Disney princesses (as well as Disney shareholders), Disney announced a blockbuster slate of films set for release in 2026.
First up, on May 22, 2026, is “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” a feature expansion of the Emmy Award-winning “The Mandalorian” series that introduced the world to Baby Yoda. No word yet on whether star Pedro Pascal will appear as the title character as he’s done in the streaming series. Jon Favreau is aboard as director.
Next, on June 19, 2026, is “Toy Story 5.” Little is also known about that project but Disney boss Bob Iger revealed in 2023 that another installment of the Oscar-winning franchise was en route.
Finally, on July 10, 2026, Disney will release a live-action version of “Moana” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This is not to be confused with an animated “Moana” sequel that Disney has set for release later this year.

Adam Wingard Shares Insights on Baby Kong, the Breakout Star of ‘Godzilla vs. Kong'(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Amidst the thrilling action of the iconic title characters in “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire,” a fresh face emerges in the Monsterverse spotlight. Meet Suko, a “mini Kong” with a nuanced connection to his legendary counterpart, enthralling viewers with his endearing yet ferocious demeanor, perfectly fitting into the monstrous realm. Director Adam Wingard shared that the idea for Suko blossomed while making his earlier film, “Godzilla vs. Kong.”
In a recent interview with IndieWire, director Adam Wingard revealed that the concept emerged during a story meeting with producer Mary Parent, where they brainstormed the future of the Monsterverse. Parent introduced the idea of a ‘Son of Kong’ movie, sparking Wingard’s interest. Over the subsequent two years, he mulled over the concept. When crafting “The New Empire,” Wingard delved into how...

The third and final season of "The Bad Batch" focuses on the intriguing mystery of why the Empire is so obsessed with something they call "M-Count" and how the clone Omega figures into their plan. Particularly strange is seeing this concept so integral to the show when, once upon a time, it was fans' the most maligned canon addition. Out of the many alien concepts in "Star Wars," and all the things George Lucas came up with — from the Jedi to the Wookies and lightsabers — midi-chlorians remains the most contentious. They are intelligent, microscopic life forms residing within the cells of every living organism in the universe.
It is the midi-chlorians that channel the Force, and allow their host access to it. Because midi-chlorians spring from, and are connected to the Wellspring of Life from which all life and the Force itself comes from, midi-chlorians are believed to be capable...

Although “Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire” has no shortage of spectacular action involving its legendary title characters, it’s a new addition to the Monsterverse that nearly steals the show. Suko, a sort of “mini Kong” who has a complicated relationship with his more famous elder, is both utterly adorable and completely consistent with the savage nature of the monsters that populate the “Godzilla” and “Kong” movies. According to director Adam Wingard, the idea for Suko was first floated during production of his previous movie, “Godzilla vs. Kong.”
“The idea originated with [producer] Mary Parent,” Wingard told IndieWire. “We were having a story meeting, and she was talking about the future of the Monsterverse. She mentioned the idea of a ‘Son of Kong’ movie, and nobody knew what that meant. But I let it ruminate for the next two years.” When the time came for “The New Empire,” Wingard started...

Here are five recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary
If bustin’ makes you feel good, Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary should be at the top of your queue. Imagine Sam Raimi remaking Ghostbusters from a Kevin Williamson script, and you have a pretty good idea of what this Brazilian horror-comedy is like: gory, self-aware, irreverent, and wildly entertaining.
When a local high school summons Bloody Mary, the Ghoulbusters — a team of local YouTubers with a cheesy ghost hunting show — are called in to take out the vengeful spirit. In addition to possessing people to the point of cranial combustion, the ghost exploits the high school setting by haunting inanimate objects,...

A theory about Baby Yoda suggests a potentially heartbreaking destiny for him ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Grogu’s surprising introduction in The Mandalorian, commonly known as Baby Yoda, took fans by storm. His mysterious origins and significance have continued to intrigue Star Wars enthusiasts throughout the show’s two seasons. As viewers explore Grogu’s backstory further, they speculate about his role in both the series’ storyline and the broader Star Wars universe. A fan theory from Reddit suggests that Grogu, also known as “The Child,” is part of a longstanding cycle where a child grows up to save the Chosen One from falling into darkness.
Speculation arises from the saviour cycle theory, suggesting that Ahsoka Tano could have trained Grogu to eventually mentor a new Chosen One in a later phase of the Star Wars timeline, especially considering her appearance in The Mandalorian’s second season. This theory implies that...

In late 2018, Gina Carano — a pioneering mixed martial arts champion who successfully transitioned to acting in Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 film Haywire — was blissfully staring up at the stars. They weren’t actual stars, but digital facsimiles projected onto a massive, domed screen — all part of a groundbreaking new effects technology from Industrial Light & Magic known as the Volume. Carano lived in Hermosa Beach at the time, just 15 minutes from Manhattan Beach Studios, where she was working on a top-secret sci-fi project, code name Project Huckleberry. But thanks to the Volume, she might as well have been 3 million light years away.

Remember when we first met Din Djarin? He swaggers into that cantina in the first episode of The Mandalorian, takes down a few ruffians, and flies off with his quarry. No mess, no pomp, no big deal.
Those days now seem long gone, as what started out as a smaller-scale Western set in the world of Star Wars, between the Original and Sequel Trilogies, has now become the hope for the future of the franchise on the big screen. The characters will now be the focus of the next Star Wars movie. Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian & Grogu is currently expected to release in 2026. Does this mean we won’t be seeing the beloved duo on screen at all until then? Or will a potential season 4 of the show bridge the gap on Disney+? It’s a question that has eluded Star Wars fans since the film project was first announced.

Pedro Pascal has achieved notable success in recent years, particularly for his acclaimed performances in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. His upcoming debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Reed Richards in the film Fantastic Four, adds another milestone to his growing list of accomplishments. Still, his most famous role right now is certainly as part of The Mandalorian. With that said, he might be replaced as The Mandalorian if rumors turn out to be true.

Pedro Pascal has attracted online attention and is affectionately referred to as the ‘Daddy’ of the Internet. This term stems from his portrayals of loving and caring father figures in various roles. This was also apparent in The Mandalorian.

The Star Wars franchise is coming to shoot a film entirely in California for the first time with The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, and the Golden State is paying out its weight in tax incentive gold to have the bounty hunter saga made within state lines.

With a new Fantastic Four, Gladiator 2 and a new season of The Last of Us on his dance card, it is unclear right now if SAG Award winner Pedro Pascal will be resuming his role of Din Djarin and teaming back up with the charming Baby Yoda for the Mandalorian movie.

The future of "Star Wars" recently came into focus as Disney and Lucasfilm announced the movie that will welcome a galaxy far, far away back to the big screen. Oddly enough, it's going to be centered on the characters that have helped anchor "Star Wars" on the small screen since 2019. "The Mandalorian & Grogu" will be directed by Jon Favreau, with the film set to go into production in 2024. Indeed, it will be Mando and the one they call Baby Yoda who will help bring the franchise back to theaters after years away. One big question now looms very large: Will a TV show turned into a movie translate to meaningful box office dollars?
There are far too many unknowns right now to accurately predict this movie's commercial performance, but there are some key things we do know. For one, "The Mandalorian" has been extremely popular, with Pedra Pascal's Din Djarin...

“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said in a press statement. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy added, “Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into ‘Star Wars ‘two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”

Lucasfilm on Tuesday broke the news of a new Star Wars film, The Mandalorian & Grogu, to be directed and produced by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau.
Details as to the plot of the film are under wraps, but it will commence production sometime this year. In addition to Favreau, producers of the project include Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni.
First introduced in 2019 with the launch of Disney+, the Mandalorian (aka Din Djarin) is a lone bounty hunter played by Pedro Pascal, who operates in the outer reaches of the galaxy. His life takes a dramatic turn when he is tasked with capturing a mysterious and adorable creature called Grogu — a fan-favorite character otherwise known as “The Child” or “Baby Yoda.” Instead of delivering Grogu to his clients, the Mandalorian develops a strong bond with the little one and becomes determined to protect him from various threats. Grogu is heading to the big screen. The Mandalorian & Grogu, a new film to be directed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, is a go at Lucasfilm and is expected to film later this year.
Favreau, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy, and Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni will produce the feature, which the studio said will be the first Star Wars feature to go into production since 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In Jon Favreau's 2008 film "Iron Man," the title hero (Robert Downey Jr.) was assisted in his high-tech superhero lab by an artificially intelligent butler-like presence named J.A.R.V.I.S. Iron Man's digital butler not only wrangled the hero's complicated engineering projects, but also controlled the even-higher-tech devices in his lab. When Iron Man went out on patrol, J.A.R.V.I.S.'s voice could be heard inside his helmet. J.A.R.V.I.S. was voiced by Paul Bettany. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continued to grow, so too did Iron Man's computerized friend. Eventually, J.A.R.V.I.S. was shunted into an indestructible android body and renamed Vision (also Bettany).

As the special-effects makeup chief for “Saturday Night Live,” Louie Zakarian often has interesting demands put on his time. He once transformed Kate McKinnon into an offbeat mermaid. And he worked with Kyle Mooney to create the Baby Yoda character who made frequent appearances on “Weekend Update.”
These days, Zakarian gets even more outlandish asks, thanks to Sarah Sherman, the “SNL” cast member who might, during one week, ask him to devise a fake seagull that can be impaled in her torso while moving its legs, and, in another, order up a costume so she can dress as the oddball Six Flags mascot, but still get back to normal for a subsequent sketch 10 minutes later.
“I’ve been at the show for 29 years now,” says Zakarian. “I get some pretty crazy requests, but some of Sarah’s are really out there.”

Taika Waititi might not be down for the count, but he's definitely been in a slump lately. Since taking home an Oscar for his efforts on his polarizing WWII dramedy "Jojo Rabbit" (a film I'm willing to go to bat for), the multi-hyphenate got a middling, bordering on hostile response to his return to the "Thor" movies with "Thor: Love and Thunder" (a film I'm ... less willing to go to bat for) and an even harsher reaction to his true story sports comedy "Next Goal Wins". Recently, Waititi admitted to The Hollywood Reporter he's been feeling "a bit fatigued by working on those big films, studio films," which is why he plans to cleanse his palate by working on something smaller next.
However, when he finally does return to the big-budget arena, he might just take a crack at one of the biggest franchises out there -- "Star Wars." Waititi...

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for “The Marvels.”]
“The Goose is loose!” That’s something I’d like to think was said by one or more of Nick Fury’s crew members upon discovering that Captain Marvel’s frisky feline companion had been furiously birthing up a storm while aboard their ship in “The Marvels.”
The film unofficially known as “Captain Marvel 2” will go down in history as “the one with all the kittens in space.” IndieWire’s Kate Erbland gave the film a “C-“ in her review, accurately citing the surprise arrival of Goose’s dozens of babies in the fourth act as “the single most bonkers set piece the MCU has ever churned out,” but still not enough to save the movie from being, at best, mid.
For Marvel’s undying fanbase, and they are legion, the scene is ostensibly a slam-dunk explosion of cute capitalizing on centuries of humanity’s unrelenting obsession with cats.

An Ohio-based artist painted Taylor Swift’s head on a 399-pound pumpkin.
In a video posted to Instagram, the artist revealed the painted pumpkin on her front porch. She used wigs to replicate Taylor’s hairstyle and sweet potatoes for her ears.
They also use earrings that match Swift’s look at the 2023 Grammy Awards. There was also a football-painted pumpkin placed on top of a red bucket with the number 87, which is the number of Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end Travis Kelce, Swift’s new boyfriend.
The artist, Jeanette Paras, is known for painting massive pumpkins with pop culture figures such as Donald Trump and Baby Yoda. She has also done pumpkins for celebrity figures such as Kanye West, Lady Gaga and Barack Obama.
Paras, who is a two-time breast cancer survivor, paints the pumpkins yearly for fundraisers by partnering with breast cancer research organizations.

Spoiler Alert: This recap contains spoilers from the Season 1 finale of Disney+/Lucasfilm’s Ahsoka, directed by Rick Famuyiwa and written by Dave Filoni.
Heading into tonight’s Season 1 finale of Ahsoka, fans knew we were flying to a cliffhanger; that Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) would make the jump to hyperspace via the space loop while some portion of Ahsoka and friends would be left behind without a prayer in the midst of the green tundra tumbleweeds of Peridea in a galaxy far, far away.
What didn’t happen in this episode were any major cameos from Star Wars canon dramatis personae of yore, i.e., Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker or Boba Fett or Baby Yoda. No, we got our fill of that with C-3Po in the last episode, when he appeared to defend Hera’s rogue mission before the snarky Galactic council.
Where do we go from here?...

“Something calls to me. Can’t you hear it? Something stirs here. Can’t you see it?” That line, uttered by the late actor Ray Stevenson in “Ahsoka” episode six, set the minds of “Star Wars” fans racing. Viewers have long been clued in to the fact that Stevenson’s character Baylan Skoll has his own secret agenda that doesn’t involve his tenuous allies Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto) or Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). Now that Baylan has reached Peridia, a mysterious planet in a distant galaxy, his secret plan might just be the biggest bombshell that the Disney+ series will drop on fans.
Baylan’s ambitions came into sharper focus this episode during a short conversation between the Force-user and his apprentice Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). After she asks her master if he misses the fallen Jedi order, he scoffs. “I miss the idea of it, but not the truth,...

This article contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Ahsoka."
There's been a tendency among certain "Star Wars" fans to take to social media in the euphoric aftermath of practically every hour of "Ahsoka" and giddily declare it to be a sterling example of "Peak Star Wars," with little other explanation ... only to repeat the cycle all over again when the next episode comes along, of course. But what exactly does that phrase mean, anyway? Seemingly more than any other, this franchise means very different things to different people, and one viewer's "peak" is another's unforgivable low point. In a post-"The Last Jedi" world where opinions among the fanbase feel more fractured than ever, it's crucial to fully define our terms.

Pedro Pascal has become everyone’s favorite on-screen dad thanks to his roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. In both hit shows, Pascal plays a father figure who keeps others out of harm’s way. So, is Pascal consciously choosing dad-forward roles to support the persona? Or has the typecasting gone too far? Here’s what he said.
Pedro Pascal says there might be ‘something’ about him that selects dad-forward roles
Pedro Pascal has dad-forward roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us. Pascal provides the voice for Din Djarin in The Mandalorian. His character works hard to protect Grogu, a force-sensitive baby better known as Baby Yoda. In The Last of Us, Pascal plays a man named Joel in the post-apocalyptic world who lost his daughter during the apocalypse. Joel is tasked to care for a teen girl named Ellie, whom he becomes a father figure to as time passes.

Lucasfilm’s just-launched Disney+ series “Ahsoka” is, in many ways, a classic “Star Wars” tale: Good battles evil, hope overcomes defeat and ancient mysteries are uncovered in the advancement of new threats. But it also felt groundbreaking in one key aspect — its release timing.
Instead of launching at midnight Pacific (3 a.m. Eastern), a streaming practice largely established by Netflix, the show premiered with two episodes, starting at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 p.m. Eastern. Fans could watch a new episode of a “Star Wars” show and still function the next day, and it has paid off in viewership: Disney said the debut episode drew 14 million views, making it the most-watched title on Disney+ for the week.
According to Parrot Analytics, “Ahsoka” is off to a better start with global audiences than any Disney+ live-action “Star Wars” series so far, including “The Mandalorian,” which launched alongside Disney+ in November 2019. The Force is definitely with this one.

It may be difficult for anyone under 30 to imagine, but humanity once went 16 years without a new "Star Wars" movie. Yes, there were books and comic books and video games, but the series' official canon basically ended in 1983 with "Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi." Why the long gap? The franchise's creator, George Lucas, was determined to wait until CGI advanced to a level where he could seamlessly blend visual effects with practical sets and locations. Once that time arrived, he began pre-production on "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace." And it wasn't long before word got out that he was creating a 100 percent CG character that would interact with the film's flesh-and-blood actors.
That character was, of course, Jar Jar Binks, who would go on to become the lightning rod for everything "Star Wars" fans found lacking in the 1999 blockbuster. Some folks hated the character so much,...

“Star Wars: Ahsoka,” the highly anticipated live-action series starring Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, debuts this week on Disney+.
Dawson reprises the role after appearing in Season 2 of “The Mandalorian,” though the character made her debut in the 2008 animated film “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the subsequent animated series of the same name.
Ahsoka is the former padawan of Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), the Jedi who turned to the Dark Side and became Darth Vader. She in turn had her own apprentice, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) but the two had a falling out.
“Star Wars: Ahsoka” includes other characters from “The Clone Wars” and its sequel series “Star Wars: Rebels,” including Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Huyang (David Tennant). Although teased, fans have yet to see images of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfadi) or Anakin Skywalker.

After The Skywalker Saga ended in 2019 with “The Rise of Skywalker,” Lucasfilm shifted its attention to the small screen and the Disney+ streaming service.
There had already been two successful animated series: “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars Rebels.” 2019 marked the debut of the first live-action “Star Wars” series, “The Mandalorian.”
It followed the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), a Mandalorian bounty hunter tasked with protecting a very precious piece of cargo — a Force-wielding foundling named Grogu (affectionately called Baby Yoda).
A slew of live-action shows followed, and their entries in the Star Wars Universe and timeline may be confusing. But fear not. TheWrap will guide you through them better than a Sith wayfinder.

“Star Wars” could be in for a big year this Emmys as not one, not two, but three shows hope to snag nominations for Best Drama or Best Limited Series.
“Andor” and “The Mandalorian” are competing for Best Drama, with the latter hoping to make it three in a row, while “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is searching for a Best Limited Series bid. Here’s the breakdown.
Firstly, “Andor” is in a very good position as we lead up to the Emmy nominations. The show follows Diego Luna as the titular Cassian Andor in a spin-off story set before the spin-off movie “Rogue One,” which itself precedes “A New Hope.” “Andor” depicts how Cassian goes from a lone rogue to one of the most important parts of the Rebel Alliance as he comes across major players in the organization including Stellan Skarsgård‘s Luthen Rael.

This is a boom time for blockbuster auteurs to talk about their failed attempts to make R-rated “Star Wars” movies. Just days after “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” director James Mangold revealed his plans for an edgy version of Boba Fett, “Man of Steel” filmmaker Zack Snyder has again discussed his attempt to fly into a galaxy far, far away.
Speaking to Empire, Snyder explained how his upcoming Netflix feature “Rebel Moon” started as a concept he had for a “Star Wars” project. “It was ‘Seven Samurai’ in space,” Snyder said, noting how original “Star Wars” creator George Lucas was inspired by Akira Kurosawa.

“The Mandalorian” season three has been and gone quicker than you can say Grogu. The series will be looking to return to the Emmys this year after its first two seasons proved mighty popular with voters, landing an incredible 14 Emmy wins altogether as well as two Best Drama Series bids.
The show follows Pedro Pascal as the titular Mando, who searches for his place in the galaxy alongside his adoptive son Grogu, Aka Baby Yoda. Season three of the show widened the galaxy a little bit as Mando became involved in the Mandalorian uprising alongside Katee Sackhoff‘s Bo-Katan, who looked to reclaim her seat of power on the fallen planet of Mandalore, home of the Mandalorians.
Returning to the series was the ever-reliable Carl Weathers, who plays Mando’s ally Greef Karga. In this season, Greef has become a magistrate of Nevarro and rules with authority, clarity, and respect.

Apple is teaming up with Disney to create a wildly immersive new product called Apple Vision Pro, and judging by the first look unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference today, it might end up being pretty revolutionary. Disney CEO Bob Iger appeared on stage to introduce the sizzle reel for the headset-like virtual reality product, which Apple is calling a "spatial computer."
The sneak peek at Apple Vision Pro -- which you can see for yourself about an hour and 43 minutes into the Wwdc livestream -- included a dreamy vision of unique, interactive viewing experiences for shows like "The Mandalorian" and "What If..." along with classic Disney cartoons and even mainstream sporting events.
