The same pattern of behaviour, feelings and emotions prevailed among the majority of fans as nearly 90,000 of them took part in the thrilling action and try to be part of it.
The most vociferous and more extrovert of the mediapersons were the Argentinians compared to the Europeans, and it was the South Americans who had the last laugh when the fourth penalty kick was scored to give their nation the third title.
The anxiety and uncertainty over the final outcome finally led to euphoria with La Albiceleste winning the title adding to the one they won in 1986 and one previous to it in 1978.
Some cried, others hugged fellow countrymen while others went live from the media box and connected themselves with fans back in Argentina through their channels and social media pages.

“Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” has been viewed for more than 1 billion hours, but it also came with a great deal of backlash. Many of the victims’ families claimed they were not contacted — a claim that creator Ryan Murphy denies — and some viewers were upset that the focus was more on Jeffrey Dahmer than the victims.
“I was never interested in Jeffrey Dahmer, the monster. I was interested in what made him. I think that the fact that all of the characters in this are seen as true humans makes some people uncomfortable. I understand that and I try not to have an opinion on that,” he tells Variety. “We always tried to center everything on the victims.”
One person that Murphy and “Dahmer” research team — who spent more than three years doing the research around the show — didn’t contact was the killer’s father, Lionel, portrayed...

The following post contains spoilers for "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery."
With "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," writer-director Rian Johnson has crafted a glaring look at the trickle-down effect of stupidity. Here, common sense is a currency in flux. It holds little value for wunderkind tech billionaire Miles Braun (Edward Norton), so it's not utilized on his island — not by Braun, and not by his guests.
Accordingly, Johnson's film is deliberately nonsensical in stretches. The characters of "Glass Onion" court foolishness to such a degree that it almost feels cruel to pick their actions apart. However, like Benoit Blanc, engaging with the great mysteries of Rian Johnson's movie is what keeps our minds sharp. And so, here are the moments in "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" that make no sense.
Why Didn't Anyone See Through Miles' Bluster?
Miles Braun, the tech disruptor played by Edward Norton, generally makes no sense.

Warning: The article below contains major spoilers for "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery."
Rian Johnson found a recipe for success with his 2019 whodunit, "Knives Out." He assembled an all-star cast that included Daniel Craig, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, Chris Evans, and Jamie Lee Curtis, threw them in a mansion together, and let them bicker about who was responsible for killing grandpa. The result was a thrilling, raucous film that managed to say something about the wickedness of wealth; the image of Ana de Armas standing on the mansion's balcony, cupping her "My House, My Rules, My Coffee" mug, is transcendent.
Turning "Knives Out" into a franchise was a no-brainer, and the series continues with "Glass Onion." The film follows Craig's detective Benoit Blanc as he investigates a new mystery, surrounded by a brand-new cast of ultra-wealthy villains played by Hollywood heavyweights. As "Glass Onion" opens, the world is reeling...

Perhaps one of the most obnoxious terms in the modern tech space is "disruption." It seems like every wannabe internet and crypto entrepreneur wants to call what they're doing a disruption in their respective spaces. Come on, guys, you can't all possibly be disrupting the same things. That's just not realistic!
In the world of "Glass Onion," billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) is certainly one of these types of entrepreneurs. He refers to his close group of friends as disruptors frequently throughout the film for varying reasons — for chemist Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.), it's because he's a genius who creates the science that fuels his Alpha Industries products, and for fashion designer Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson), it's because she "speaks her mind." Yes, "speaking her mind" means being racist on Twitter, because of course that's what it means.

The good people at Netflix would prefer that reviewers, critics, pundits, wags, culture vultures and other assorted ne’er-do-wells who write about movies on the internet not spoil any of the many twists and turns of Glass Onion, the much-anticipated sequel to Rian Johnson’s 2019 tribute/throwback to whodunnits Knives Out. It’s a sentiment that the filmmaker himself shares, given that so much of the fun of these A-list mysteries revolve around misdirection, deduction, the art of the reveal. Someone who traffics in constructing homages to, say, Agatha Christie...

“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” star Leslie Odom Jr. was a fan of Rian Johnson’s whodunit series long before it became a series and he was cast in its latest entry. But that didn’t stop the Emmy- and Tony-winning performer from pitching some ideas to Johnson when he nabbed a spot in the starry sequel.
“I didn’t want to overstep or bombard Rian with silly ideas of my own, but I did want to bring some thoughts to the table about what I might be able to bring to Lionel that could be worthy of holding the frame,” he told IndieWire during a recent interview. “That’s one of the things that I loved so much about the first film, that I could feel his respect for his cast, I could feel his respect for the people he assembled. Brandy is getting refitted for a pair of glass slippers because she’s about to reprise her role as Cinderella for a new installment of The Descendants franchise! The uber-talented singer and actress is traveling to the kingdom of Auradon for The Pocketwatch, set in a corrupted Wonderland, where Jabberwockys hide in the shadows, caterpillars philosophize, and heads will roll.
In The Pocketwatch, Red (Kylie Cantrall), the teenage daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe (Malia Baker), the adolescent daughter of Cinderella, cross paths at a meaningful celebration at Auradon when unexpected chaos throws Wonderland into further disarray. “In order to prevent an impending coup, they must join forces to travel back in time, via a magical pocket watch created by the Mad Hatter’s son, to stop an event that would lead to grave consequences,” reads the feature’s official logline.

The little boy is scared. There’s such a large crowd outside the theater. He has no idea what will happen when he walks through the doors and into the room filled with dozens of seats, all facing a large blank square. Plus it’s in the dark. He’s been told him that there are giants in there, though his dad gently corrects him; the people are normal-sized, they’re just on a big screen.

The intense real-life subject matter of Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story hasn’t detracted folks from tuning into the show. Netflix’s 10-episode drama has accumulated over 500 million hours in views and has been seen in at least 56 million homes since it debuted in September. However, at least once cast member, Richard Jenkins, who plays serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’s father, Lionel Dahmer, had reservations about joining the series. Ryan Murphy, who is the executive producer, creator, and writer, reached out to Jenkins because he’d penned the role of Lionel for him. The actor’s initial response was guarded at best. “I said, ‘Ugh,’” Jenkins shared with a group of reporters and other invited guests at a recent Q&a held at the Netflix offices in Hollywood. “[Ryan] said, ‘Read it.’ I did, and it immediately interested me. The last thing I thought was a Jeffrey Dahmer ...

Lionel Richie has one of the most beloved bodies of work of any musician. So when one of his lifelong admirers, Lenny Kravitz, inducted the Commodore into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Kravitz tried to convey who Richie is when the world isn’t watching.
Years ago, Richie visited Kravitz at his home in Miami for a jam session. It was their first meeting. Kravitz was anxious — which is, honestly, difficult to picture — and wanted everything to be perfect. Just as they were getting into a groove, his 93-year-old...

Lionel Richie performed his greatest hits — with Dave Grohl on guitar — before accepting his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Saturday night.
After being introduced by Lenny Kravitz, the Commodores musician and American Idol judge opened the medley with “Hello” on piano, immediately taking control of the crowd as they sang the ubiquitous chorus.
He quickly switched into the Commodores’ “Easy,” which brought much of the crowd to its feet clapping to the rhythm, swaying and singing the backing vocals. Grohl joined onstage as a surprise guest to perform “Easy,...

Zach Smadu shined in this heartfelt episode that tugged at our heartstrings.
Daniel and Abby represented Ira on Family Law Season 1 Episode 5, who was concerned about his wife Helen's treatment at the care center for her Alzheimer's.
We haven't seen much of Daniel's personality or why he selects certain cases. "Until Death Do Us Part" highlighted why Ira and Helen were so important and why he wanted a family like theirs.
This episode was one of the most emotional because most of us know someone with Alzheimer's, and it's disheartening watching their decline. Daniel had known his neighbors Ira and Helen for years, so he wanted to help.
Ira was devastated that his daughter Miriam had power of attorney and refused to move Helen. Ira thought they treated the patients like kids and didn't meet her needs.

Plot: Following the death of his wife a broken man spirals into an abyss of night tremors and depression and finds himself in the home of a deranged cannibal who convinces him to take his own life in the most horrific way imaginable.
Story: Cannibal stories aren’t for everyone and Feed Me certainly has some nasty moments. But as someone who doesn’t enjoy seeing people eating, it never enters the zone of the rotting carcasses in a Texas Chainsaw film. But that’s not to say that this is for those with weak stomachs because boy does it get rough. So you may need to prepare your stomach when heading into this one.

Thomas M. Jacobson, the former Milwaukee attorney who represented eight of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims’ families and fought to prevent the serial killer from profiting from his murders, feels Ryan Murphy’s statements regarding funding a memorial is not only too little, too late for the emotional damage his Netflix series cost the families, but absolutely the wrong move.
“The memorial contribution for the Dahmer victims by Ryan Murphy seems likes an afterthought,” Jacobson told TheWrap. “Milwaukee wanted Dahmer memory to disappear so not wanting any remembrance of his mayhem in the community is a given.”
He offered the following alternative: “The only meaningful Dahmer victim family action on Murphy’s part would be a monetary consideration from the Netflix profits for their exploitation and continuing trauma.”

(Welcome to Year of the Vampire, a series examining the greatest, strangest, and sometimes overlooked vampire movies of all time in honor of "Nosferatu," which turns 100 this year.)
Vampire movies have been a part of cinema for a long, long time. Sure, a great many of those movies center on your classic "Dracula in a cape," and at times, that can be great. But vampire flicks that go a little bit outside the box have always been a little bit more my speed.
Such is the case with "Daybreakers," an ambitious, kind of crazy mid-size movie that has largely slipped through the cracks in the years since its release. I'm here to propose that we absolutely should not let it slip away entirely.
Directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig, aka the Spierig brothers, the film takes place a decade after a plague turns most of the world's population into vampires.

Long before his involvement in a series of elf-populated, jewelry-based hiking movies, New Zealand filmmaker Peter Jackson won hearts as the director of gloppy, vomitous, utterly repellant midnight grindhouse fare like "Bad Taste," "Meet the Feebles," and "Braindead" (known as "Dead Alive" in North America). Jackson's early films have an excited, adolescent joie de vivre that his later digital-forward technical exercises lack, and are perfect for naughty teenagers who think that films like "Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn" don't go far enough.
"Dead Alive," easily one of the goriest films ever made, is constructed like a comedy film and has a premise that wouldn't feel out of place in a Saturday morning cartoon. Lionel (Timothy Balme) lives with his controlling and guilt-trip-dispensing mother Vera (Elizabeth Moody) in 1950s Wellington. Lionel is beloved by a local shop owner named Paquita (Diana Peñalver) who believes, courtesy of tarot cards, that they...

Edward Norton is one of our generation's greatest actors. He has collaborated with a slew of renowned directors. Often, (and sometimes to the detriment of his reputation), he works behind the scenes of the films he stars in. He took over the editing room while director Tony Kaye fought with the studio over "American History X"; he argued over the "Red Dragon" script with director Brett Ratner, who told the Los Angeles Times, "He likes to challenge the director. It's all about intellectual debate ... Edward's instinct is going to be, 'I have to take over this film.' He's going to try to rescue the film"; he wrote parts of "The Incredible Hulk" script to improve his character arc (via Entertainment Weekly).
To this date, he has only made two films in the span of nearly twenty years: "Keeping the Faith" in 2000 and "Motherless Brooklyn" in 2019. Norton tells Interview magazine...

As you may be aware, we here at Nerdly love to cover the more independent projects out there. This has led us to some truly great undiscovered gems over the years. The only thing we love more than pushing these projects is seeing the growth in the directors and actors we have come across. We know it’s a hard slog at times in the filmmaking game, so to see creators not just persevere but keep getting infinitely better, honing their craft and putting out great content for your eyeballs, well that makes it all the sweeter and more importantly our jobs easier.
Here we have the writing and directing duo of Richard Oakes and Adam Leader. Previously these boys released Hosts, which we covered quite a bit here on the site.

It’s been 11 years since Smallville ended, but fans are just as passionate about it now as they were when it aired: The 2022 New York Comic Con cast reunion panel was packed. Tom Welling (Clark), Erica Durance (Lois), Kristin Kreuk (Lana), and John Glover (Lionel) were on hand to look back on fond (or “farm”) memories of the series, as well as at its legacy, and share some things they would have liked to have seen. In Netflix’s new 10-part series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, filmmakers tried to tell the story of one of America’s most gruesome serial murdererers “as authentically as we could”, according to the show’s star Evan Peters.
“It felt important to be respectful to the victims, to the victims’ families,” said Peters in a promotional video posted to Twitter.
“You need to have certain plot points because he did do these things, but you don’t need to embellish them. You know we get it, we don’t need to see it over and over again.”
That lofty sentiment was skewered by Rita Isbell, the sister of Dahmer’s 11th victim Errol Lindsey, whose courtroom confrontation with her brother’s murderer in 1992 was recreated frame-by-frame from news footage for The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.

Netflix's latest true-crime series, "Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story," is revisiting the chilling murders of the notorious serial killer. The 10-part limited series delves into Jeffrey's childhood and the psychological behavior that preceded his unnerving string of sexual assaults and murders, which he carried out over a decade before finally getting caught in 1991. Jeffrey horrifically raped, killed, and dismembered 17 known victims, most of whom were underage males of color, between 1978 and 1991.
The Netflix series, from Ryan Murphy, presents a fictionalized version of the true events and is told, in part, through the lens of the victims of the late murderer, portrayed by Evan Peters. Jeffrey's parents - mother Joyce Dahmer (portrayed by Penelope Ann Miller) and father Lionel Dahmer (played by Richard Jenkins) - also play a huge role in the series as it analyzes whether the infamous criminal's emotionally devoid upbringing led to his distorted psyche.

Ryan Murphy’s “Dahmer” Netflix series just launched to some impressive premiere numbers, and considering how many people checked out the true crime limited series in its first week, its ’80s and ’90s-infused soundtrack is no doubt of interest.
Jeffrey Dahmer was one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. In the 1980s and early 1990s, he committed a series of brutal murders, often dismembering his victims and keeping body parts as souvenirs. His crimes horrified the nation and captivated the media.
The Netflix limited series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” chronicles Dahmer’s childhood and early adulthood, leading up to the first of his murders in 1978. It explores the events that shaped him into a serial killer, and the police investigation that eventually led to his capture. It’s hard to believe that he evaded escape for so long, given the lack of complexity in planning and executing his crimes.

Plot: Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer gruesomely took the lives of seventeen innocent victims. Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is a series that exposes these unconscionable crimes, centered around the underserved victims and their communities impacted by the systemic racism and institutional failures of the police that allowed one of America’s most notorious serial killers to continue his murderous spree in plain sight for over a decade.
Review: The clumsily titled Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is at once one of the best and one of the worst series of 2022. As Ryan Murphy’s mega-deal with Netflix chugs along, this true crime drama tries to take a unique vantage on one of the most disturbing figures of the 20th century. While managing the most gruesome elements of Dahmer’s crimes from the perspective of his mutilated victims, Monster is at once a well-filmed and structured series that...

Axes, machetes and chainsaws – oh my! certain objects will forever be associated with the horror genre despite having completely normal uses in real life. This makes sense, as years of genre cinema have conditioned us to expect bloody carnage whenever a kitchen knife shows up in a scary movie. However, some filmmakers like to think outside the box when coming up with creative kills, forgoing the traditional tools of the trade and providing horror fans with memorable and often unexpected murders.
While there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a classic cinematic beheading, variety is the spice of life (and death), and that’s why we’ve come up with this list of six of the most unusual weapons in horror movies. After all, there’s more to scary movies than boring old stabbings and gunshots, and it’s about time that we honor some of the genre’s most innovative weapons.

Murder is afoot once more in the latest Knives Out mystery from writer/director Rian Johnson. So is the world’s greatest detective, Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), who’d grown bored during the pandemic and needed a new case to crack. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery sticks to sequel conventions in that it goes bigger than its predecessor. Still, it also switches tone for a much sillier, more convoluted affair meant to entertain.
Just as Benoit Blanc tires of Zoom chats and games of Among Us, he receives a unique invitation by billionaire Myles Bron (Edward Norton) to attend a weekend murder party on his private Greek island. Also joining the revelry are Bron’s longtime friends Duke (Dave Bautista), Birdie (Kate Hudson), Claire (Kathryn Hahn), and Lionel (Leslie Odom Jr.). Duke’s girlfriend Whiskey (Madelyn Cline) and Birdie’s suffering assistant Peg (Jessica Henwick) round out the bunch.

It’s 1952, Sammy Fabelman in six years old, his parents have taken him to...

Every director, it seems, has a deeply personal coming-of-age story to tell, from Francois Truffaut’s “The 400 Blows” to Lee Isaac Chung’s “Minari” to Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma.” And lately, every Toronto International Film Festival has made one of those films a centerpiece of its lineup. Last year, it was Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast,” which won TIFF’s audience award and went on to receive an Oscar nomination for Best Picture; this year, it’s Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans,” which had its world premiere on Saturday night in the Visa Screening Room at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
Based on Spielberg’s childhood in New Jersey (briefly), Phoenix (longer) and Northern California (for a stormy stretch in high school), “The Fabelmans” is a sweet look back at a boy who was transfixed by the movies from the moment he saw “The Greatest Show on Earth” in 1952, and...

Rian Johnson's "Knives Out" was a wonderful breath of fresh air — an original film with a stellar cast and a funny, engrossing mystery with twists and turns. It reminded us that movies could be, ya know, fun. Seemingly the moment the movie ended, audiences wanted more. Specifically, they wanted the return of Benoit Blanc, the gentleman sleuth with the deep-fried accent, played to perfection by Daniel Craig. Sure enough, Netflix came calling, plunking down a huge chunk of change for Johnson to make not one but two more Benoit Blanc movies. But could Johnson ever match the mystery magic he created in the first film?
The answer is a resounding yes. With "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," Johnson has brought back Blanc for an even bigger, funnier, twistier whodunnit. Not only does Johnson recapture what made the first flick so special, he actually outdoes himself. Yes, "Glass Onion...

Before you worry too much about dissecting the meaning of “Glass Onion,” both the main title of Rian Johnson’s second “Knives Out” feature (and just as delightful and inspired as the first film) and the name of a Beatles song from their White Album, we’ll just go ahead and direct you to the (likely?) key lyric from the 1968 jam: “Well here’s another clue for you all / The walrus was Paul.” Talk about an a-ha moment, right? Alas, John and Paul were having a bit of fun with that particular ditty, as most of their “Glass Onion” is less about unraveling fan theories than straight up poking holes in them.
It’s a fitting title for Johnson’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,” which delights in unspooling theories, the bread and butter of the genre, and then poking right through them to find something even more witty and amusing.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022). Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix © 2022.
On December 23rd, Netflix will premiere Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
In the follow up to Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.
Starring Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline with Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista, check out the brand new teaser.
According to Johnson, Blanc’s penchant for bombast is partly to thank for the film’s title, which pays homage to the 1968 Beatles song of the same name. “I’m always fishing for something fun that Blanc can grab onto as an overwrought metaphor that he can beat to death,” he says. “This is all in plain sight from the very start. In the '90s, Whoopi Goldberg earned her way into the hearts of millennials with her performances in movies such as the "Sister Act" films, "The Lion King," and "The Little Rascals." The star-studded 1997 musical fantasy TV film "Cinderella" was another go-to movie for pizza parties during my elementary school days. The fairy tale remake stars Brandy Norwood as the titular character who, with the help of her Fairy Godmother (Whitney Houston), wins the love of Prince Christopher (Paolo Mantalban). Goldberg plays Queen Constantina, the prince's controlling mother who wants to find him a suitable mate.
"Cinderella" is an all-around funny movie. Cinderella's stepmother (Bernadette Peters), her stepsisters, Calliope (Veanne Cox) and Minerva (Natalie Desselle Reid), and the royal family's servant, Lionel (Jason Alexander), all provide some comic relief. But what really made my classmates and me choke on our Pepsi was Goldberg's performance as the queen. Her patented squeals...

Whoopi Goldberg revealed the various ways she helped create the memorable comedy and royal look of Queen Constantina in the 1997 TV movie Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
Appearing as part of ABC’s special edition of 20/20 in Cinderella: The Reunion, which aired Tuesday night, the actress, comedian and View co-host opened up about how she delivered one of the film’s funniest (and most regal) performances.
During a segment discussing Goldberg’s casting, she expressed that she based the character on herself, and was even behind her signature vocal characterization of answering with exasperated, shocked or faux hurt reactions.
“I wanted her to be me in a dress. A little silly, a little fun. And I gave her a distinction,” Goldberg said. “She doesn’t finish sentences, she makes sounds.”
After being described as the “soul of the production,” Goldberg also revealed that the very real,...
