Jerry Jeff Walker was born on March 16, 1942 in Oneonta, New York, USA. He was an actor and composer, known for What Just Happened (2008), The Soloist (2009) and The Wanderers (1979). He was married to Susan Streit. He died on October 23, 2020 in Austin, Texas, USA.
He started out in the Greenwich Village folk music scene in the 1960s. In the early 1970s, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he worked with artists such as Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark.
He was a folk-country singer-songwriter best known for writing the hit song "Mr. Bojangles".
