- Born at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA and grew up surfing along the shores of Huntington Beach and San Diego. His other recreational activities included riding motorcycles and dirt bike racing.
- Played Little League Baseball throughout his school years. In his final year, he was voted the best pitcher in the League. Having a great strike out record and pitching a shut out, he was selected by the League Committee to represent the United States in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Due to unforeseen circumstances, he had to decline.
- Became an Actor by accident. In high school, his Drama teacher asked him to audition for the school's first play. When he said no, his teacher shouted at him. He changed his mind and went on to star in all the high school productions with rave reviews and decided he wanted to be an Actor.
- Holds an FAA Helicopter flying permit. He wanted to be a helicopter pilot for the U.S. Forestry Service. Acting never crossed his mind.
- Alumni of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, CA. He quickly became super popular and the Staff declared him one of the Top 5 Actors at the Academy. He studied alongside the granddaughter of Eli Wallach most known for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966).
- Famous Miami Vice (1984) Ferrari Daytona car builder met with Jerry Buys in San Diego, CA to discuss a photography gig for his cars. A Ferrari Daytona for Jerry Buys was included in the discussion. The gig ended when the car builder shut his doors shortly after.
- Was an Award Winning professional photographer and video maker before taking the leap into filmmaking.
- Was cast alongside Erik Estrada for a futuristic motorcycle sports action film to be shot in Paris. The project was eventually scrapped by the producers.
