This charity special is kind of a big dill. Pickled on CBS will see 16 celebrities, including Will Ferrell and Emma Watson, join forces for a tournament of pickleball — the fast-growing sport played with paddles on a small tennis court — to benefit Comic Relief US. And TV Insider has your exclusive first look at the star-studded key art below! CBS Hosted by late night’s Stephen Colbert, the two-hour Funny or Die production was filmed in September at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California. “We laid down the Thunderdome of pickleball and made the biggest deal of the smallest sport we could find,” says exec producer K.P. Anderson. Colbert sings the national anthem with Kenny Loggins (they rehearsed harmonies at a cantina the night before), then eight teams of two battle it out for the Colbert Cup. Viewers can donate here. Anderson prefers not to spoil the unexpected pairings. But he confirms the stars,...

With her busy schedule, you’d think superstar Helen Mirren would be pooped. But she has still found time to narrate the new ABC unscripted comedy “When Nature Calls with Helen Mirren,” which premieres Thursday, June 24 at 8 p.m. Et.
“When Nature Calls with Helen Mirren” stars Helen Mirren as the voice of Helen Mirren, who narrates a cheeky look at animals and the wild. The show is based on a BBC Studios format that “features comedians putting words into the mouths of beautiful beasts, teeny-tiny frogs, beatboxing badgers and more in captivating footage from all over the world,” the network said. (No relation to the 1995 “Ace Ventura” sequel.)

“Norm Macdonald Has a Show,” and it’s so stilted and strange, that it’s hard to understand what, exactly, it’s trying to do. Even David Letterman — who’s known Macdonald for years, produces the series, and was the one to suggest he do it in the first place — had to pause halfway through their half-hour interview to marvel at the sheer weirdness of what was happening. “I feel like I’m on a show in another country,” Letterman remarked, immediately inspiring a wave of giggles from Macdonald, his sidekick Adam Eget, and assorted crewmembers lurking just offscreen.
It’s a moment that, much to Macdonald’s delight, repeats itself over and over again in each episode as he, Eget, and a single guest take the sparse stage for meandering conversations. Macdonald punctuates the talks — which are only “interviews” in the absolute loosest sense of the term — with his...

Norm Macdonald has a show, and Chevy Chase has a startling connection to Bob Dylan. Only one of those statements is the name of a new Netflix series (or true), but this trailer explains both.
The premiere season of Netflix’s Norm Macdonald has a Show launches Sept. 14 (all ten 30-minute episodes debut at once), and promises to showcase the former Saturday Night Live player at his driest. Does Drew Barrymore miss cocaine? Has Judge Judy been to a strip club? He asks, they answer.
Among the other guests of the talk show’s premiere season are David Spade, David Letterman, Jane Fonda, M. Night Shyamalan, Michael Keaton, Billy Joe Shaver and Lorne Michaels. Macdonald’s sidekick is Adam Eget, who filled the same spot on Macdonald’s podcasts.
One of the more surprising moments of the trailer? Jane Fonda thinks Macdonald resembles Marlon Brando.

Netflix is taking another try at a comedic talk show format with the Sept. 14 launch of “Norm Macdonald Has a Show.”
The “Saturday Night Live” alum has set “SNL” boss Lorne Michaels, David Letterman, Jane Fonda, Michael Keaton, Chevy Chase, Judy Sheindlin, and M. Night Shyamalan as guests. Netflix has ordered 10 half-hour episodes from Lionsgate TV, which will be released all at once.
Plans for the “Norm Macdonald” launch come on the heels of Netflix’s cancellation on Aug. 17 of two topical talk shows, “The Break With Michelle Wolf” and “The Joel McHale Show With Joel McHale.” Netflix ordered Macdonald’s program to series in March.
Wolf came into her show with major momentum after her turn at the White House Correspondents Association dinner made headlines in April. “The Break” served up fresh episodes on Sunday nights. The quick hook for a show from a rising-star comedian suggests that viewership...

When E!’s The Soup airs a live, hour-long episode from Talladega Superspeedway this Friday (10/9c), it’ll be one of the most artful examples of drafting that Nascar has ever seen.
Stock-car racing is “one of the biggest sports in the country. It’s even bigger than baseball. So, just for that factor alone, we want to be near them,” host and comedian Joel McHale tells TVLine a few days before the broadcast. “Just the fact that they are allowing us to do it is a coup. I think we’ve tricked them. I assume they’re regretting it.

On August 21, "The Soup" will celebrate its milestone 500th episode by going live for both its east and west coast airings (10 p.m. Et/Pt on E!) -- a feat that will be made all the more impressive (and potentially disastrous) because McHale apparently has "full on dyslexia ... I think it really brings a sense of danger," he quipped to a group of reporters gathered after the comedy show's 499th taping.
According to McHale and executive producer K.P. Anderson, the 500th episode will be structured much like any other "Soup" installment, with the added high-wire act of going live -- and two sets of guests -- but without a retrospective element. "I think live is pretty much the trick," Anderson said. "We’ll have a couple of little surprises along the way with our special guests. I think we, as a show, do better when the material is fresh and we have new jokes.
