Edward E. Pixley

Edward E. Pixley is a theater director and a retired Professor of
Speech and Theater at SUNY-Oneonta. He attended Concordia College,
received an MA from University of Wisconsin, and earned a PhD from
U-Iowa, with a dissertation on the plays of Sean O'Casey. His
specialties include play analysis, Shakespeare and Irish theater. He
authored the 3rd edition of George and Portia Kernodle's college
textbook "Invitation to the Theater." Dr. Pixley has been a life-long
singer as well as occasional actor. He was on the original board of
directors of Glimmerglass Opera, where he sang the role of Parpignol in
La Boheme, the company's 1976 debut production. He was born in Bear
River, MN in 1936, and held previous teaching posts at Waldorf College
and Adams State.
