Foreword
Web series on streaming platforms have warranted a far more emotional investment both for actors in the cast and from the viewers who would try and get involved in the characters. Their sequels, however, are rarely as engrossing as the original first season of episodic developments. And for the same reason, I, for one, am a tad sceptical about watching successive seasons with as much enthusiasm as I am for the preceding ones. Unless it is ‘Made In Heaven’.
Made in Heaven Season 2
This series is a compelling watch and though there isn’t anything spectacularly novel about its storyline, the production values, immaculate writing and superb acting by the entire cast makes it riveting. It represents what present-day India is all about. Conservative on the one hand and modern in many ways with progressive mindsets of traditional people who face conflicting ideas to deal with at every step.

Nikamma
Starring Shilpa Shetty, Abhimanyu Dasani, Abhimanyu Singh
Directed by Sabbir Khan
No, this is not a film about a guy name Nik and his amma. Nikamma , as Tusshar Kapoor taught us in a song many years go, means a wastrel, a good-for-nothing, a lukha, a bekar berozgaar bematlab insaan…
And if you think Abhimanyu Dasani is the Nikaamma of the title then, ha ha, they fooled you. No, dear potential audience, the nikamma in the title is us, the spectators sitting in the theatre watching this garbage masquerading as a movie experience.
One has to be a full-fledged nikamma to inflict this suffering on oneself.
Or maybe some filmmakers think we Indian are suckers for masochism. So bring it on, baby. This is the story of Adi and Avni, Devar and Bhabhi who love to hate each other until poor Sachin Khedekar(playing Adi’s chirpy Chachaji) reveals the big secret: Bhabhi Avni,...

Student of the Year 2
Starring Tiger Shroff, Aditya Seal, Ananya Pandey, Tara Sutaria
Directed by Punit Malhotra
In a film that runs on and on almost as fast as its agile leading man, for nearly 2 and a half hours Student Of The Year 2 (SOTY2) leaves us with nothing except repeated visuals of youngsters pouting preening and posing for the camera, and pelting the part of the provocateur with an aggressiveness that soldiers at the border display when the enemy is in the mood for some action.
But the absence of any tangible takeaways in this designer version of Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, should be the least of our worries. Six years back when Karan Johar directed Student Of The Year we all wondered what kind of educational opportunities awaits a nation where cinema propagates a classroom-free academic orgy replete with colour, music, banter, flirtation, courtship… everything except sex and education.

New Delhi, Jan 9: The handsome middle-aged man rules Indian television these days. From Ram Kapoor, Samir Soni to Ronit Roy and Mohnish Bahl - all of them are lead actors on various TV shows. The new trend also means more work for male actors.
While Ram, 38, plays a middle-aged business tycoon in the romantic drama 'Bade Ache Lagte Hain', Mohnish, 47, has impressed all as a simple but reserved Dr Ashutosh in hospital drama 'Kuch Toh Log Kahenge', and Ronit, 46, fights for justice in 'Adalat' as lawyer K.D. Pathak.
The shows have not only brought fresh flavour on the small screen but also bailed out channels crumbling under the hackneyed plot of mothers-in-law on the warpath against daughters-in-law.
