Party Down fans are, well, partying down today after learning the news that they’d been hoping to hear since the show was canceled in June 2010: A movie is happening.
Sure, you might have heard this in some form before — or at least hints about it. But frankly, I don’t believe anything until Megan Mullally confirms it’s true. Luckily, that’s exactly what she did yesterday during the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles.
Ken Marino told us in August that the movie was moving in the “right direction” but that nothing was “a go.

Bernie Mac will be sorely missed. This weekend, he appears in two films, both lighthearted and fun and a great tribute to the versatile actor. DreamWorks and Paramount's "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" opens this weekend, promising a ton of laughs to both fans who have seen the first film and those eager to explore the sequel. The first film opened on May 27th, 2005 and, after a $47.2 million debut weekend, went on to gross $195.5 million in the U.S. and a big $339 million overseas. The sequel stars Ben Stiller (Alex), Chris Rock (Marty), Jada Pinkett-Smith (Gloria), David Schwimmer (Melman), Sacha Baron Cohen (Julien), Cedric the Entertainer (Maurice), Bernie Mac (Zuba), Andy Richter (Mort), Alec Baldwin (Makunga), Sherri Shepherd (Mom). What's the second film about? In the highly-anticipated sequel to “Madagascar,” Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, King Julien, Maurice and the penguins and the chimps find themselves marooned on the distant shores of Madagascar.

NEW YORK - Jennifer Coolidge, Sean Hayes and (no relation) Isaac Hayes are joining Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac in Malcolm Lee's comedy Soul Men for Dimension Films.
Musician John Legend, Affion Crockett, Adam Herschman, Fatso Fasano and Jackie Long are also joining the feature about two former bandmates (Jackson and Mac) forced to reunite when a third member (Legend) passes away. The pair fight with each other all the way across the country when they're forced to take a road trip together for a reunion concert.
Soul marks a return to the big screen for former South Park voice star Hayes, who plays himself. The veteran soul singer suffered a stroke in 2006.
Longtime Christopher Guest ensemble member Coolidge (For Your Consideration) plays Mac's love interest. Former Will & Grace star Hayes plays the band's obnoxious manager.
The film, written by Robert Ramsey and Matthew Stone, is now shooting in Shreveport, Memphis and Los Angeles. Producers David T. Friendly, Charles Castaldi and Steve Greener are aiming for an October theatrical release through MGM.
