- Mark Robertson, Los Angeles-based violinist, was born in Cincinnati, OH to musical parents. After graduating from Boston University and the Juilliard School, Mark entered the freelance scene in southern California, and for over 20 years has been a fixture in the Hollywood film scoring scene. He has played in the orchestras for some of the biggest blockbusters of all time, including A Beautiful Mind, A Perfect Storm, The Fast and the Furious, War of the Worlds, Cars, Jurassic World, The Incredibles, Finding Dory, Spiderman: No Way Home, Frozen II, Zootopia, Wall-E, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He was one of the featured soloists on the recent film Where the Crawdads Sing, as well as the violin soloist for the shows House of Cards and Penny Dreadful.
As an orchestra contractor, Mark has recently put together the orchestras for White Men Can't Jump, The Unknown Country, Zoo, Dolly Parton's Heartstrings, Blood & Treasure, Batman: Soul of the Dragon, The Boogeyman, Big City Greens, The Sinner, One Night in Miami, Triple Frontier, The Nun, and Under the Silver Lake.
In 2015, Mark co-founded the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, through which over 25 world premieres have been commissioned; and multiple films were performed live to picture, including Blackfish, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Parasite.
In addition to film scoring, Mark has also worked with A Great Big World, Christina Aguilera, Logic, Alice Cooper, Hoobastank, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, Kristin Chenoweth, Billy Childs, and Linkin Park, among others.
Mark's violin teachers have included Kurt Sassmannshaus at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and the Aspen Music Festival, Dorothy DeLay at Aspen and Juilliard, and Roman Totenberg at Boston University.
