Gwynne Thomas has decided to exit her post as executive vp programming and development at Buena Vista Prods. at the end of the month.
"With Buena Vista's increased concentration on alternative development, Gwynne has chosen to pursue opportunities that focus on first-run and cable development, in addition to alternative programming," said Brian Frons, Disney-ABC Television Group president of daytime. He also praised Thomas, saying that she was instrumental in leading the development and sale of such series and pilots as "Run for Money" on Sci Fi Channel, "The Fashionista Diaries" on SoapNet and "Camouflage" on GSN as well as supervising the production of programming like "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire".

ABC Daytime president Brian Frons has been elevated to president of Disney-ABC Television Group. Frons will continue to oversee the network's daytime programming and add other Walt Disney Co. TV divisions that produce stripped programming in the soap and talk formats, including cable network SoapNet and Buena Vista Prods. The restructuring will bring together different Disney divisions "to try and get all the distribution lines thinking together for the future and all the (production) lines aimed at the same viewer," Frons said. Hopefully, in theory, we can have more functional units that way." SoapNet executive vp and general manager Deborah Blackwell and Buena Vista Prods. executive vp programming Gwynne Thomas will report to Frons.

Among its shows are such syndicated series as the upcoming daytime talker The Tony Danza Show, which premieres Sept. 13; Live! With Regis & Kelly; Who Wants to Be a Millionaire; and Ebert & Roeper.
