CBS’ ‘Beyond the Edge’ Sent Celebrities to the Jungle — And Producers Were Terrified They’d All Quit
CBS and the producers behind the network’s new reality series “Beyond the Edge” were bracing for their celebrity cast to mutiny. They even had contingency plans in place, just in case their stars decided to give up in the face of grueling conditions.
“I remember in the middle of production, saying on multiple occasions, ‘I can’t believe they’re still out there,’” says CBS alternative series senior VP Mitch Graham. “You never know in a new format, what you’re going to get. We had an eight-episode order in place. My biggest concern was whether or not people would stick with it, and whether we could actually complete a series order.”
Created and produced by Renegade, the company behind Discovery’s long-running smash “Naked and Afraid”, “Beyond the Edge” features nine celebs roughing it on an island in Panama, teaming up and competing in challenges to earn money for their designated charities.

Climbing through bat caves. Braving 95-degree heat and jungle humidity. Sheltering in crocodile territory. CBS’s new celebrity competition Beyond the Edge sure isn’t Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. The nine participants — country singers Lauren Alaina and Craig Morgan, model Paulina Porizkova, sports legends Ray Lewis and Mike Singletary from the NFL and Metta World Peace from the NBA, actress Jodie Sweetin (Full House) and reality TV stars Colton Underwood (The Bachelor) and Eboni K. Williams (The Real Housewives of New York City) — hit Panama for a grueling endurance challenge. It’s all for charity, but that doesn’t mean any part of the experience is easy. “I don’t think you’ve ever seen celebrities in a limelight like this before,” says executive producer Greg Goldman. (Credit: Robert Voets/CBS) The stars got “a very basic beginning of a structure,” he says, that they then had to...

‘Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition”: CBS Revisits A Twist On Its Reality Series, Sets Premiere Date
The CBS veteran reality hit Undercover Boss has been conspicuously absent from its summer schedule, and now we know why. The network today announced Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition, a spin on the series that will premiere on Monday, May 11. Check out the promo above.
The new take — which got a two-episode tryout in May 2017 — will feature such familiar faces as Olympian Gabby Douglas, Frozen star Idina Menzel, YouTuber Bethany Mota, and NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. How will they avoid being recognized by their “employees”? CBS has that covered:
Yes, the bosses will be disguised with state-of-the-art prosthetic makeup and custom-made wigs, which the network said took an average of 2 1/2 hours to apply. Douglas, Menzel, Mota and Sanders are the stars of the show’s first four episodes; more will be announced later.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott had their first wedding anniversary since his affair on Thursday -- and it looked like an interesting day.Though they weren't photographed together, Dean was seen coming out of a Victoria's Secret store, of all places. While, at first thought, it looked like he might be picking up something to spice up their less-than-"fantastic" sex life, it was probably a more innocent trip -- as the actor's teenage son accompanied him to the store.Either way, we can safely assume he was picking up a present for his wife.Speaking of Tori, she was spotted out solo as well, making a visit to Bed Bath & Beyond. While she wasn't looking too happy to be photographed, it's worth mentioning that she was still wearing her wedding ring during her trip to the home goods store. No word on how the two actually celebrated later that evening,...

It's time for a reality-tv reality check. Even top executives and producers admit that the genre has become tired — an overload of singing battles, food challenges, screaming housewives and dating competitions. "We've been in a huge reality drought," says Greg Goldman, the new president of Studio Lambert USA, which produces Undercover Boss.
The broadcast networks continue to coast on the enduring success of veteran franchises like Survivor, but they're not minting many new hits. In cable, the success of docuseries like the Real Housewives franchise and Love & Hip Hop has led to a glut of such shows.
But a shake-up may finally be on the way. CBS recently named a new head of reality TV, Chris Castallo, while Fox is looking to fill the top job in its alternative department (which infamous reality kingpin Mike Darnell vacated at the end of July). There's also a new head of unscripted TV at AMC,...

Who said only chicks like the Kardashians were the only ones to have a big sibling fight on national television? Corey Haim and Corey Feldman, though not brothers in real life, have considered themselves siblings since they became friends when they were child stars trying to make it big in the entertainment industry. Their friendship has come a long way, spawning a reality show following their lives on A&E’s The Two Coreys. However, as the debut season of the reality series came to a close, the two got into a conflict that neither of them could resolve on their own.
Earlier this year, we reported that the two are going to come back for a second season of the show despite the fragile state of their friendship. Moreover, season 2 of the series will deal with these conflicts and try to rekindle the brotherhood as they journey on in life together.
