Four of TheWrap’s 2018 Innovators shared their advice for aspiring creators and entrepreneurs on stage at TheGrill on Tuesday.
Moderated by TheWrap’s Sharon Waxman, the panel featured Matt Stern, a co-founder of the augmented reality company Mira; Mike Wann, CEO of the livestreaming platform Mobcrush; Fanshen Cox Digiovanni, a playwright, producer and activist who has led the charge in development of Hollywood inclusion riders; and Colin Petrie-Norris, CEO of the ad-supported streaming company Xumo.
The innovators shared their perspectives from the stage at Sls Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Beverly Hills:
“There’s a lot of great ideas. Pick the one and chase after it… Not trying something and giving it a shot is a real missed opportunity,” said Wann, whose company was initially set up as a rival streaming platform to Twitch, but eventually morphed into a service that allows influencers and content creators to stream video across...

Ikea has launched the next phase in a campaign to spruik its mattresses, based on the idea that there are seven types of Australian sleeper.
The campaign, devised by PR agency One Green Bean with production by DangerMouse Productions, is fronted by ‘Swedish sleep expert’ Alvar Karlsson played by actor Matt Sterne.
The videos, which will be distributed through YouTube, were shot in Ikea Tempe and around Sydney. Ikea staff were used as extras.
The first stage of the home furnishing giant’s campaign to push its mattresses came last month, when a team of ‘sleepers’ rode public transport in three cities at peak hour traffic in pyjamas with signs around their necks.

This is the Pure Movies review of Invictus, directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Tony Kgoroge, Patrick Mofokeng, Matt Stern and Julian Lewis Jones. “I am the master of my fate/I am the captain of my soul.” The last two lines of Henley’s famous “Invictus”, the poem that Nelson Mandela kept on a scrap of paper during his incarceration at Robben Island, do well to sum up Clint Eastwood’s latest film of the same name. Morgan Freeman stars as Mandela, and addresses the challenges he faced in a post-Apartheid South Africa still largely divided by race and class. Matt Damon plays Springboks captain Francois Pienaar who is desperate to build the moral and confidence of his team in the run-up to the 1995 Rugby World Cup, knowing their chances are slim.

Chicago – It’s difficult to imagine an awards season without Clint Eastwood. Ever since 2003’s “Mystic River,” he’s released all of his directorial efforts during the last months of the year. Sometimes his films deserve to be contenders (“Million Dollar Baby,” “Letters From Iwo Jima”), and sometimes they don’t. “Invictus” is Eastwood’s most unimaginative Oscar bait yet.
Morgan Freeman is the perfect actor to play Nelson Mandela…too perfect, in fact. There must be countless great actors, unknown to mainstream moviegoers, who could’ve knocked this role out of the park. Freeman is certainly one of our great actors, but he’s played this type of wise, contemplative, larger-than-life role so often that it’s become a cliché. When he played God in “Bruce Almighty,” the casting seemed inevitable. That may be why Mandela himself couldn’t think of any actor to play himself onscreen, other than Freeman.

If you look at John Carlin.s book .Playing the Enemy,. surprisingly marked down from $24.95 to $7.77 at Amazon, you will realize that the title has a double meaning. One deals with the competition of South Africa.s rugby team in its thrust toward the World Cup in 1995. The other relates to the unusual fact that when South Africa.s rugby team played that of England, the majority of South Africans in the audience cheered for England! The players: Director: Clint Eastwood, Writer: Anthony Peckham, Cast: Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, Tony Kgoroge, Patrick Mofokeng, Matt Stern
Facts of interest: Based on John Carlin's book.
The plot: The film tells the true story of how Nelson Mandela tried to unite his country with the help of South Africa's rugby team.
Our quick thoughts: Clint Eastwood’s “Invictus” keeps things simple in telling the true story of how Nelson Mandela tried to reunite his country through rugby, but the film is nonetheless a fascinating big-screen experience and without doubt one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. Intriguing, emotional and beautifully shot and acted, this is an instant winner.
