Tracee Ellis Ross is packing her bags and inviting audiences to join her solo travel adventures with the new Roku Original series “Tracee Travels.”
The series will chronicle the award-winning actor and Pattern CEO and founder as she “meticulously, laboriously, and sometimes ridiculously prepares for and travels solo to spectacular locations.” The series will shoot later this year, following Ross as she “charts her own path, exploring the intersection of beauty, fashion, design, food and culture at each stop.”
“I took my first solo trip when I was 22 years old. I decided way back then that I wouldn’t wait to do the things I wanted to do or for my life to come to me,” says Ross. “I’ve been solo traveling ever since, now there’s just a lot more luggage!”
She continues: “I hope this show reminds people that they too can courageously live their lives on their own terms,...

According to Roku, The Spiderwick Chronicles has tallied the highest reach and most hours streamed of any title in the platform’s history during an opening weekend. It also also earned the highest daily reach and most hours streamed of any title to ever to debut The Roku Channel in a singular day.
“What’s clear is that great IP, great talent, [and] clear titles thrive on the Roku platform,” Brian Tannenbaum, Roku’s Head of Originals, told Deadline. “We...

The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on the fantasy adventure novels by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black, premiered on Roku on April 19th, 2024. The extremely successful children’s books has been adapted into a series consisting of 8 episodes and stars Joy Bryant and Christian Slater as the central characters.

Interestingly, the show was originally picked up by Disney+ before the platform decided to step back reportedly owing to cost-cutting measures and differences of opinion regarding the content. Despite high expectations, the show has unfortunately failed to impress critics who do not seem to have felt the impact of the novels.

Gearing up for the holidays, Disney+ series “The Santa Clauses” has dropped the trailer for its second season.
Set after the events of “The Santa Clause” films, the Christmas television series has Tim Allen reprising his role as Scott Calvin/Santa, who decides to retire from the “Santa” position in season one and find a new replacement. However, the end of the first season saw Scott fail to find an individual worthy of the “Santa” title. This time around, Scott is determined to train his son, Cal (Austin Kane), to be the perfect Santa successor.
“The best part of Christmas is spending time with your loved ones,” Scott says in the new trailer. “Which is why I’m so geeked to turn Santa into a family business.”
All doesn’t go smoothly for the Calvin family, though, and there’s a new “Mad Santa” (Eric Stonestreet) who was previously exiled...

The Spiderwick Chronicles has found a new home at Roku. The TV series adaptation of the fantasy adventure novels by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black was originally ordered for Disney+, but the streaming service pulled the plug earlier this year, despite the fact that shooting had already been completed.
Roku announced today that they have acquired the exclusive, premiere U.S. rights to The Spiderwick Chronicles, which will debut on The Roku Channel in early 2024. The series follows “the coming-of-age story of the Grace Family, as they move from New York to Michigan and into their family’s ancestral home. Roku has moved in and saved The Spiderwick Chronicles starring Christian Slater and Joy Bryant and based on Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black’s popular book series. In August 2023, Disney+ dropped The Spiderwick Chronicles after the eight-episode season had wrapped filming.
The cancellation prompted Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television to shop the series elsewhere, with Roku snatching up the U.S. rights. Fans of the bestselling books can now expect an early 2024 premiere on The Roku Channel.

One streaming service's trash is another's treasure. To that end, Roku has announced that it has nabbed the rights to "The Spiderwick Chronicles" TV series, which had previously been in the works at Disney+. And when we say in the works, we mean that the entire eight-episode series had already been filmed. Yet, Disney decided not to release it anyhow, as we learned back in August. But the show will see the light of day after all.
The adaptation of the acclaimed book series by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black will now be a Roku Original series that will debut on The Roku Channel in early 2024. No specific release date has been announced yet but expect more information, including a trailer, sooner rather than later. It's easy to see why Disney would have pursued this in the first place as the YA fantasy adventure novels are quite popular, with 20 million copies sold.

Roku just scored a completed, anticipated adaptation of a beloved book series that will air in early 2024. The streaming platform announced on Tuesday that it has acquired “The Spiderwick Chronicles” nearly two months after the show was dropped by Disney+ as part of a cost-saving measure.

It's always difficult hearing a show that's been completed isn't airing at its original home.
There was a lot of excitement about The Spiderwick Chronicles when Disney+ ordered the series.
You can only imagine our surprise when it emerged that the streaming service had scrapped the project after shooting an entire season.
The decision to nix the show came as Disney+, like many other streaming services, examined its content slate with the eye of cutting costs.
That led to several shows that had already premiered, including Willow, being banished from the service entirely.

Exclusive: The Spiderwick Chronicles, starring Joy Bryant and Christian Slater, has found a new home. Roku has picked up the exclusive U.S. rights to the television adaptation of the popular children’s fantasy books by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black. The eight-episode series, from Paramount Television Studios and 20th Television, will premiere on the platform in early 2024.
For Roku, this marks the most ambitious series to date. So far, the scripted slate of the free, ad-supported streamer has consisted largely of shows from the Quibi content library it acquired in 2021.
“It is an honor to bring The Spiderwick Chronicles, a spectacular adventure-filled story led by the incredible Christian Slater and Joy Bryant, exclusively to The Roku Channel,” said Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals, Roku Media. “We cannot wait to introduce this exquisitely crafted series, imagined by a world-class creative team, to millions of streamers.”
