The general public isn't always the best at accepting the reality that child stars and teen idols eventually do grow up, struggling to see them as anything but their most memorable role during adolescence. But a trend has emerged in recent years, where the stars of massive teen franchises are getting the chance to grow. People have stopped making "Twilight" jokes about the Academy Award-nominated Kristen Stewart and "The Batman" star Robert Pattinson, while Zac Efron's turn in "The Iron Claw" had people campaigning on his behalf for an Oscar. Elsewhere, Jennifer Lawrence completed "The Hunger Games" and became the second-youngest person to ever win the Oscar for Best Actress, with all three main stars of the "Harry Potter" franchise having gone on to great success in other roles.
There's still plenty of room for growth (like folks who discredited Charles Melton in "May December" because his breakthrough role...

It’s the month of love, and with Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching, we’ve looked to some of our favorite TV shows to find happy couples who seem to always get love right, with happy and loving relationships that weather many a storm. In a medium known for changing things up and shocking finales, who are some of these couples who made it through intact? We’ve scoured through the decades to find those who were either married from the beginning to the end of a series, or those who found love early on and stayed together throughout the remainder of the series.
Many of the happiest TV couples are found on sitcoms, with programs like “Happy Days” and “That ’70s Show” focusing primarily on growing kids and their friends, but also portraying a loving mom and dad who still enjoy alone time. It’s funny now to realize...

Despite having a varied directory of content, different streaming services tend to have a certain genre specialization, which is considered to be their Usp. With Netflix’s thrillers, mysteries, and true crime, HBO’s is mostly about innovative dramas that tackle a variety of themes set in different backdrops. Apple TV+ delves deep into grand-scale sci-fi, and Amazon Prime aces the grounded crime drama genre. One of the series that catapulted Amazon Prime’s popularity among fans of the said genre was Bosch, a procedural detective drama that is possibly the longest-running series on the streaming service as well.
Adapted from a series of novels written by Michael Connelly, Bosch revolved around the titular calculative, upright, hardboiled manhunter, Hieronymus ‘Harry’ Bosch, an war veteran and LAPD detective with two decades of experience on the force, as he skillfully untangled some of the riveting mysteries and conspiracies of Hollywoodland. Exclusive: Shadow and Bone star Kit Young is part of the Season 1 cast of FX’s Alien series, sources tell Deadline. Additionally, I hear filming in Thailand has been suspended due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, and the cast was sent home Friday. According to sources, the break was planned as the show’s production schedule was adjusted to account for the SAG-AFTRA work stoppage. Crew members are still working, and sets are still being prepared for when shooting resumes after the end of the strike, sources said.
I hear Young was a late addition who joined Alien after the bulk of the main cast, led by Sydney Chandler, was set, including Alex Lawther as a soldier named Cj, Samuel Blenkin as Boy Kavalier, a CEO, as well as Essie Davis as Dame Silvia and Adarsh Gourav as Slightly. In her new memoir, “End Credits: How I Broke Up with Hollywood,” former TV writer Patty Lin revealed that her time writing on Season 6 of “Friends” was marked by a cast who didn’t really want to be there.
They “seemed unhappy to be chained to a tired old show when they could be branching out,” Lin wrote of the sitcom’s ensemble, which included actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc. “I felt like they were constantly wondering how every given script would specifically serve them.”
“They all knew how to get a laugh, but if they didn’t like a joke, they seemed to deliberately tank it, knowing we’d rewrite it,” she continued on her workplace difficulties, published in an excerpt via Time on Monday. “Dozens of good jokes would get thrown out just because one of them had mumbled...

Harry Bosch is returning to Amazon Freevee on Oct. 20 – and he’s taking matters into his own hands to save his daughter in a new teaser for “Bosch: Legacy” Season 2.
The drama series’ second season finds Bosch (Titus Welliver) working alongside Honey “Money” Chandler (Mimi Rogers) to track down a masked assailant who kidnapped his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) before time runs out. But as the FBI scrutinizes Carl Rogers’ murder, Bosch and Chandler are placed under suspicion.
In the clip, Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) tells Bosch that he needs to let authorities do their job to find his daughter, to which he replies: “Don’t cut me out!.” He also makes clear that while the FBI has to do things the “right way,” those rules don’t apply to him.

Based on the 1976 novel of the same name, Confess, Fletch manages to take the bones and tone of a comic murder-mystery and create something as charming as its protagonist. Gregory Mcdonald wrote 15 novels in the series, including two sets of spin-offs. Though the first novel was filmed back in 1985, the second took decades to come to the screen. That despite there already having been a sequel, one written specifically for the screen.
Mcdonald had other works adapted to film including Running Scared and Johnny Depp's directorial debut The Brave. Recurrent themes of murder, suicide, and bad deals abound. Noir-ish in intent, Confess, Fletch occupies a conspiratorial hinterland that'd be familiar to Chandler or Hammett or in some of the finer things the work of Fleming. When Fletch says "I'm an open book" he's got form.

Filming is officially underway on Alien TV series that Fargo TV series creator Noah Hawley has been developing for “FX on Hulu” – with the project having to film around cast members who are on strike with the Screen Actors Guild. We’ve previously heard that the series will star Sydney Chandler of Pistol… but Chandler is in SAG, and therefore isn’t currently on the Alien set in Thailand. Deadline reports that Chandler’s co-stars include Essie Davis (The Babadook), Alex Lawther (The End of the F*cking World), Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror), and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger).
Filming began on Wednesday. Deadline has heard there’s a total of three SAG cast members, and “the production has reworked its shooting schedule to delay their participation for as long as possible.” Other main actors are members of the UK acting union Equity, and Equity actors have been told they...

Exclusive: FX’s Alien series has started production in Thailand but without its stars who are SAG-AFTRA members due to the ongoing strike.
So far, Sydney Chandler is the only officially confirmed cast member, playing the female lead. Deadline can reveal that Alex Lawther, known for his starring role in Netflix’s young adult drama The End of the F*cking World, has been cast as the male lead, a soldier named Cj, with Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror) as another main character, Boy Kavalier, a CEO. Additional cast members include Essie Davis as Dame Silvia and Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger) as Slightly.
The deals for the actors were made well before the SAG-AFTRA strike started July 14, and those who are members of the American union are not currently in Thailand working on Alien, which is an Equity production, sources tell Deadline.

Move over Joey and Chandler, television has a new best bromance, and it’s two Jeopardy! legends with an impressive knack for trivia and a fondness for flirtatious banter. That’s right, Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings and the game show’s self-declared “supervillain” James Holzhauer have become quite the double act during the currently airing Masters tournament. The pair have been playfully teasing each other throughout the competition, winning over plenty of fans in the process. Holzhauer kicked things off during the first episode of Masters when he used his Final Jeopardy answer to call out Jennings, who previously beat him in the Goat tournament. “Stop ducking a rematch, Ken,” Holzhauer wrote, which caused laughter from Jennings and the studio audience. “You know how much work I had to go to to get all the way over at this lectern and avoid having to play you again, James?” Jennings replied.

The "Alien" universe created by director Ridley Scott and screenwriter Dan O'Bannon in 1979 is finally making the jump to episodic television in FX's long-awaited series from "Fargo" and "Legion" mastermind Noah Hawley. The project has been gestating since December of 2020 when it was first announced at Disney's Investor Day presentation by FX Chairman John Landgraf. Not to be confused with Fede Alvarez's upcoming "Alien" movie that's set to eventually premiere on Hulu, Hawley's "Alien" series will be set decades before the original voyage of the Nostromo and will mark the first time that the sci-fi horror franchise has been set on Earth.
For fans who remember the intentionally misleading teaser trailer for "Alien 3" that promised a return to our home planet, the potential of seeing a Xenomorph on our own home turf should be an exciting prospect. FX's "Alien" will officially be the first live-action television series,...

Noah Hawley’s FX series Alien has found one of its leads in Sydney Chandler, the network has confirmed.
Back at January’s TCA, FX boss John Landgraf said that the Fargo creator was in pre-production on Alien with an eye on starting production this year. The series reportedly takes place before the days of Sigourney Weaver’s alien fighter Ripley. It’s the first story that takes place in the Alien franchise on Earth, 70 years from current day.
Alien brings Chandler back to work at FX, the actress having made her television debut in the network’s series Pistol from director and executive producer Danny Boyle. That six-episode series, which premieres May 31 exclusively on Hulu, centers around the legendary Sex Pistols. Chandler portrays singer-songwriter Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders.

Bosch: Legacy follows Harry Bosch, played by Titus Welliver, as a retired homicide detective turned private investigator on the next chapter of his career. The series also features attorney Honey “Money” Chandler, played by Mimi Rogers, and Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch, a rookie police officer.
During the second season, Bosch and Chandler work together to seek out a killer who just might find them first. The flagship series from Michael Connelly, writer and executive producer, ran for seven seasons on Amazon proper and starred Welliver as Bosch.

Harry Bosch will continue to crack cases for the foreseeable future. Ahead of the Season 2 premiere this fall, Bosch: Legacy, the spinoff of the longrunning Amazon crime series, has been renewed for a third season. Amazon Freevee announced the renewal Monday, prior to the Amazon NewFront presentation.

Succession star Sarah Snook stopped by NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the fourth and final season of the hit HBO drama, but host Fallon also used her appearance to get her to offer a media-family take on the popular Internet quiz, “Which Friends character are you?”
Snook appeared after Jennifer Aniston as the second guest on Tuesday night’s episode, which Fallon brought up, asking Snook if she’d ever met the Friends alum before, to which Snook said “no,” but that she was a “big fan.”
In light of the lineup, Fallon asked Snook which Succession characters are most like which Friends characters.
She quickly broke down who’s who right away, saying that Greg (Nicholas Braun) has “got to be Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow).”
Kendall (Jeremy Strong), meanwhile, is Ross (David Schwimmer) because they both have a “sad face,” Snook said.

TLC’s Little People, Big World Season 24 showed Matt Roloff’s new plan for Roloff Farms. Matt told Amy Roloff, Zach Roloff, and Caryn Chandler that he wanted to put the farm up for short-term rentals. As for Amy’s home, that would be available to rent, too, as Caryn didn’t want to live in it. Now, Matt’s building a new property — and it looks massive. Here’s what he said about it looking bigger than it is.

Affairs are a common storyline on unscripted reality shows, but the infidelity scandal involving “Vanderpump Rules” cast members Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss takes things to the next level.
News broke March 3 that Sandoval was cheating on his longtime, live-in girlfriend Ariana Madix with Leviss. This came as a shock to viewers, as Sandoval and Madix were one of the show’s steadiest couples, and Leviss was slowly re-entering the dating pool and exploring a relationship with Sandoval’s best friend, Tom Schwartz. At least that’s what was captured on film for the show’s tenth season, which just debuted a month ago.
Even at the premiere party in February, which TheWrap attended, Sandoval and Madix appeared inseparable and Leviss seemed content with life as a single person.
To quote a meme that has been circulating since the scandal broke with a “Friends” reference: “Imagine if Chandler cheated on...

The sweet animated opening credits sequence of Dean Craig’s “The Estate” introduces two nice sisters who run a café. It’s a classic misdirect: a warm overview of sweet, caring Macey and sharp, smart Savanna under the guidance of their father, running a neighborhood joint replete with hot coffee and cozy regulars. Once the credits fade to real life, as it were, we learn that the sisters are in over their head and way behind on their payments, with no feasible financial solution in sight.
The Macey and Savanna of the cartoon prologue do not resemble the Macey and Savanna of “The Estate.” Macey (Toni Collette) is vaguely empathetic but weak-willed. Savanna (Anna Faris) is impulsive and possibly a sociopath. In order to save their precious café, one the audience never actually sees them working in, they’re going to have to butter up their dying, miserable Aunt Hildy...

Back in 2017, Matthew Perry appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and revealed that he and Justin Trudeau attended the same school — and that he and a classmate once beat up the future Canadian Pm.
During Perry’s Wednesday night appearance on “The Late Show”, Perry dismissed the story as rumour, admitting he can’t recall it ever happening.
During the conversation, host Stephen Colbert noted that he and Trudeau were in grade school together, and jokingly asked which of them is recognized more in Canada.

Matthew Perry has said he “begged” Friends producers to get rid of a signature Chandler characteristic.
The actor – who played Chandler Bing in the 10-season comedy series – made a number of revelations about his time on the show in his memoir, titled Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.
Reflecting on his time starring in the series, which ran from 1994 to 2004, Perry said he was annoyed with his character’s signature intonation and wanted to change Chandler’s voice.
In an excerpt published by Variety, he wrote that he “had to beg the producers” to stop writing his lines this way.
Riffing on his character’s catchphrase, Perry wrote: “That particular cadence – could it be more annoying? – had been so played out that if I had to put the emphasis in the wrong place one more time, I thought I’d explode, so I just went back to saying lines normally,...
