Dos Equis has a new Most Interesting Man in the World, and he looks an awful lot like Michael Phelps from 20 years in the future, who’s come back in time to take us on sexy, thrilling adventures. The beer brand (and its ad agency, Havas New York) have chosen to replace the former Most Interesting Man in the World, Jonathan Goldsmith, with Frenchman Augustin Legrand. Legrand, 41, has been around the French TV and film circuit since the early 2000s, occasionally popping up in an American film like “Flyboys.” Goldsmith, 77, spent 10 years as the Most Interesting Man in...

The Most Interesting Man in the World is no longer that interesting. Jonathan Goldsmith, the original Interesting Man, has been replaced by the young and hip Augustin Legrand. Dos Equis, the beer company that brought us the campaign, decided it was time to move on. The new man is described as "active" and "adventurous," along with "edgier and more daring." The beer brand released a teaser today, featuring the new face of the character. Expect to see him and all of his interesting glory in a full-length commercial this October. The Dos Equis VP of Marketing, Andrew Katz said, "The meaning of 'interesting' has evolved over the past decade, and this campaign features a new...

The dividing line between a film being an homage and a rip-off is sorely tested with "Forsaken", a 2015 Canadian Western by director Jon Cassar, who is best known for his acclaimed, award-winning work in television. This is a rare venture into feature film making for him and the result left me with decidedly mixed emotions. The film marks another collaboration between Cassar and actor Kiefer Sutherland, who starred in Cassar's wildly successful TV series "24". That the two men are comfortable with each other's style is immediately apparent from the first frames of the film. We want to extend kudos to them for bravely venturing where few in the movie industry dare to tread any longer: the realm of the Western, a genre that has been routinely neglected for decades. Despite the success of Westerns such as "Unforgiven", "Dances With Wolves" and "Open Range", studio chiefs can't seem...

He doesn't always get sued, but when he does, he attempts vengeance. Jonathan Goldsmith, known as the "most interesting man in the world" thanks to appearances in Dos Equis advertisements, has unleashed one hell of a curious cross-complaint against the talent management firm suing him for allegedly owed commissions. Accused of not paying 10 percent on his nearly $1 million-per-year Dos Equis work, Goldsmith says the guy who owns the firm is not who he says he is. Worse, the guy allegedly "jeopardized his future as the spokesman for Dos Equis beer." According to Goldsmith's legal papers, the

Cost of misusing the carpool lane: over $100 "15 minutes" of Internet fame: priceless Washington State Patrol trooper Guy Gill pulled a guy over because he was cruising in the carpool lane as a solo driver. Actress-turned-director Sarah Polley turns her attention away from death and adultery as surveyed through her previous two narrative features Away From Her and Take This Waltz and onto her family history with unconventional documentary Stories We Tell.
Using her talent as both a filmmaker and as a storyteller to tell her family’s story may seem self-indulgent and unnecessary to be aired in public, yet the warmth in which Polley infuses into the film ensures it carries with it a more deeper, universal value.
Through frank talking-head interviews, old Super 8 footage and reconstructions, Polley allows various family members, friends and those involved in her mother’s life to paint a colourful, complete picture of such a frolicsome person. Sadly taken from her when Polley was only eleven, Stories We Tell examines how Diane’s individual choices had such a profound – and, in some cases, life-changing – lasting effect on those around her.

The world of indie film has especially benefited, giving viewers the chance to watch buzzed-about movies that can only afford to play in a handful of theaters. This week, Moviefone offers a special look at the world of indie cinema, with the release of "Take This Waltz." Due in theaters this weekend in Canada and in limited release in the U.S. (and currently available on VOD), by now you hopefully know that Sarah Polley’s sophomore release “Take This Waltz” is one of our favorite films of the year so far. Starring Michelle Williams, Seth Rogen, Canadian actor Luke Kirby, and comedienne Sarah Silverman (in a great dramatic performance) the film is an unflinchingly raw look at love, infidelity and the often selfish choices we make in our lives (read our review here).
And apart from being emotional, moving, melancholy and at times, difficult to watch, the film's textured funny, happy/sad moods are well buttressed by an excellent soundtrack, and again, one of our favorites of the year so far. The movie takes its title from a classic Leonard Cohen song and the film features that cut (of course), plus Canadian chanteuse Feist's take on...

Jonathan Goldsmith's mother does not have a tattoo that reads "Son," nor do sharks have a week dedicated to him. Those are facts about the character referred to as the Most Interesting Man in the World, whom Goldsmith has played in commercials for Dos Equis beer since 2006. Though he and his character are different people, the actor is by no means a boring man.Goldsmith never even intended to become an actor, but he says, "It was a love affair from the very beginning"—in more ways than one. During his junior year at Nyu, he was "asked to leave," he recalls, due to a "quite personal" relationship he was having with a married female teacher. At the time, he was taking part in "too much hell raising" and was "leading a fatuous existence," he says. His father sent him to see psychiatrist Fredric Wertham. The doctor agreed to treat Goldsmith.

Casino Jack, George Hickenlooper's upcoming thriller starring Kevin Spacey and Hayden Christensen, gets an original score by Jonathan Goldsmith, a composer who is best known for his intimate score to Sarah Polley's Oscar-nominated Away from Her. Casino Jack, also known as Bagman, tells the true story of American lobbyist, Jack Abramoff, who was sentenced to prison after his fraudulent dealings with Indian casinos.
