Update: After Titanic director James Cameron revealed he has conducted a scientific test on whether Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) could have survived the ship’s sinking if only Rose (Kate Winslet) had moved over on the door, the actress has responded.
Winslet, who previously opined that both possibly could have fit on the wooden door that served as a life raft, now has backtracked.
“I don’t f–king know. That’s the answer. I don’t f–king know,” said an exasperated Winslet. “Look, all I can tell you is, I do have a decent understanding of water and how it behaves.” Her remarks were made on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
Winslet drew on her experiences paddleboarding, scuba diving, and kitesurfing to craft her answer.
“If you put two adults on a stand-up paddleboard, it becomes immediately, extremely unstable. That is for sure,” explained Winslet.

You know how it goes sometimes. A drug kingpin (Bryan Cranston's Walter White) and his partner in crime (Aaron Paul's Jesse Pinkman) narrowly manage to pull off the scheme of the century, plotting the downfall of their biggest benefactor-turned-foe (Giancarlo Esposito's Gus Fring) in as elaborate a hitjob as you'll ever see. But just as the coast seems clearer than it has in quite some time, with the maniacal killer out of the picture for good and his meth-making "superlab" burned to ashes (a location that a recent episode of "Better Call Saul" would retroactively add further layers to), the victors suddenly remember one pesky detail that could make all their desperate efforts for naught: the existence of incriminating surveillance footage on a single laptop hard drive.

As much as the incredibly long-running and fan-favorite Mythbusters series sought to entertain us through the power of science, viewers of the show can back me up when I say that the true stars were the hosts: Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage, along with the “build team” surrounding them that would eventually be made up of Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, […]

Grant Imahara’s family and friends have formed a new educational foundation in his memory.
The Grant Imahara Steam Foundation, named for the late “Mythbusters” host, will work to inspire and empower underserved youth to become active in science, technology, engineering, art and math. The formation of the nonprofit was announced Friday on what would have been Imahara’s 50th birthday.
“There are many students, like my son Grant, who need the balance of the technical and the creative, and this is what Steam is all about,” said Carolyn Imahara, Grant’s mother and co-founder of the foundation. “I’m so proud of my son’s career, but I’m equally proud of the work he did mentoring students. He would be thrilled that we plan to continue this, plus much more, through The Grant Imahara Steam Foundation.”

Discovery has lined-up two days of “Mythbusters” episodes to air across two networks in tribute to host Grant Imahara, who died earlier this week of a brain aneurysm at the age of 49.
Imahara was part of the “Mythbusters” team for nearly 10 years, working alongside lead hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman and his Build Team cohorts Kari Byron and Tori Belleci. They put popular myths to the test using science and engineering. The episodes airing on Discovery and Science Channel this Friday and Saturday will feature some of Imahara’s favorite “Mythbusters” moments, the network said.
Discovery will also re-air Imahara’s turn as host of “Killer Robots: Robo Games 2011,” which documented the International Robogames Competition, as well as an episode of his Netflix series “White Rabbit Project,” which he co-hosted with Byron and Belleci.

Savage Builds is a new Discovery show centered on Adam Savage. Generally speaking, most people will be familiar with Savage because he was one of the two co-hosts of Mythbusters along with Jamie Hyneman. However, it should be mentioned that he has taken on other roles such as an actor as well as a special effects designer, which is why his work has been featured in everything from The Matrix Reloaded to Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. In any case, it seems pretty safe to say that Savage possesses a fair amount of clout, which would

“MythBusters” has kept me company on TV since college. It debuted in 2003 and has given me a head full of Steam; you can usually find me reabsorbing it into my bloodstream during holiday-season marathons on the Science Channel. But I was skeptical when “MythBusters Jr.” was announced. Would the new version of the series be worth watching as an adult, or would it be kids’ stuff? As it turns out, the answer is yes on both counts, so I hope the show gets some long overdue recognition from the television academy.
The original series was led by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, a pair of effects artists using their technical skills to test urban legends, conventional wisdom and Hollywood action scenes to see if they hold up to reality. Though the show was perhaps most famous for its gloriously gratuitous explosions, its real appeal was the way it used the scientific method to solve problems,...

[Spoiler alert: Do not read on if you haven’t seen “Captain Marvel.”]
“Captain Marvel” is full of references to the ’80s and ’90s, and even Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury throws it way back with an amateur tape trick to get himself out of trouble.
However, would it work in real life?
TheWrap spoke to Valerie Castillo and Elijah Horland from the Science Channel’s “MythBusters Jr.” to get to the bottom of it. Castillo is 15 years old and is skilled in robotics, Cad drawing and 3D printing. Horland is 13 years old and is a self-taught maker, programmer and circuit wiz.
In “Captain Marvel,” Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) and Nick Fury (Jackson) are locked in a security room when Fury takes a piece of tape and lifts a fingerprint off his badge that the security guard had touched. He then uses that piece of tape on a fingerprint scanner… and the door magically opens.

Adam Savage has been away from the “MythBusters” world since the long-running Discovery channel series aired its final episode on March 6, 2016. And he didn’t expect to be coming back anytime soon (having steered clear of the Science Channel reboot).
But the ultimate science nerd told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour Thursday why exactly he agreed to come back for the upcoming spinoff series, “MythBusters Jr.,” and the answer is short and sweet: “The word junior.”
“You know, I stayed away from [‘MythBusters: The Search’] and the reboot of ‘MythBusters,’ specifically ’cause 14 years, 40 plus weeks a year, I was sort of happy to take some time off from making the show,” Savage said, seated on stage next to his young “MythBusters Jr.” co-stars. “But in the interim, I’ve also turned 51 and my kids left the house — an empty nest. It doesn’t take long for the newly revamped version of “MythBusters” to take part in some mythmaking of its own. For anyone who might stumble on the title in a program guide and wonder why former hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman aren’t the lead scientists on this unscripted TV mainstay anymore, there’s a handy introduction of new faces Jon Lung and Brian Louden. Specifically chosen as part of the “MythBusters: The Search” competition series from earlier this year, the quick intro to the newest “MythBusters” season (premiering Wednesday night on Science Channel) feeds into the idea that these two were destined to take the reigns and shepherd the series forward.
The result is Lung and Louden now heading up a show that’s a slightly revamped, but still true to its predecessor, a thoroughly enjoyable romp through surface-level scientific inquiry that’s still a valuable part of the TV world.

‘MythBusters’ Returns With an Experiment That Will Knock Your Socks (and Legs) Off (Exclusive Video)
Whether you miss Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman or not, you have to admit, it looks like the “MythBusters” revival is gonna crush it — literally. In the upcoming premiere from the 14-episode season, new hosts Jon Lung and Brian Louden enter the “MythBusters” world with an airbag test experiment that puts the safety of a synthetic cadaver at stake. The guys are trying to figure out if having your feet on the dashboard when the airbag releases after a fender bender is actually lethal. Honestly, why risk it? This year, James Cameron’s critical and commercial smash hit “Titanic,” about two people from different social classes who fall in love aboard the doomed vessel, turns 20 years old. For many, that means revisiting the film after so many years, but for others it means revisiting the question of whether Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) could have climbed up next to Rose (Kate Winslet) onto a wooden door and therefore survived the end of the film.
“MythBusters” hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman tackled this question once before and claimed that Jack could have survived, but Cameron has repeatedly said that the board is not buoyant enough to hold two people. However, it was brought up once again in a new interview with The Daily Beast and Cameron staunchly defended the film’s ending and said that, though the “MythBusters” guys are “full of shit.”

The decision to get rid of some of the most beloved members of the Mythbusters cast during the series' final season arguably sealed the fate of the struggling show. Fans who haven't yet forgiven the series for that move are getting some measure of relief with the release this month of White Rabbit Project on Netflix. The series reunites Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara, and they'll be doing a lot of the same things they used to do on Mythbusters.
In White Rabbit Project, the trio will participate in segments that use experiments, tests, and construction projects to illustrate topics such as prison breaks, weaponry, and sensational crimes. Those topics will sound familiar to Mythbusters fans, since they're the kinds of topics that the trio investigated on that show, too.

Among the original programming it has peddled to its subscribers, Netflix has picked up a number of sequel series, revivals, and new seasons of cancelled shows. Now, with its latest announcement, it has extended the lifespan of another TV hit -- sort of. The subscription video on-demand service will be the home of White Rabbit Project, an unscripted series that will star former Mythbusters “interns” Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara.
The White Rabbit Project takes its name from the so-called “rabbit hole” its hosts will descend into as they explore interesting pop culture, science and history topics. According to Deadline, subjects covered by White Rabbit will include “jailbreaks, superpower technology, heists and crazy world war two weapons.”
Byron, Belleci, and Imahara gained fame as the three lab rats who helped Mythbusters hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman build and test the contraptions they needed to test out common theories and urban legends.

That didn’t take long. Less than a month after MythBusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman busted their last myth, Science Channel announced that they’re bringing back the series, but with a bit of a twist. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the network is going forward with Search for the Next MythBusters, a sort of American Idol of science geeks and demolitioners. The original series, in which special effects gurus Adam and Jamie would prove or disprove myths like “Is it possible to curve a bullet?” and “Can a car really run on moonshine?”, debuted in 2003. It went on to air 282 episodes on Discovery before ending its run in March 2016. In the Search, 15 potential “busters” will be charged with solving challenges and be evaluated by a panel of judges.

As a longtime fan of Mythbusters I was sad to see it go after 14 seasons. I think we can all agree that hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman were what made that show so great. They were the heart and soul of the series, but The Science Channel is planning on reviving the series without them.
The are going to relaunch the show with new hosts, and those hosts will be found through a reality TV show the network is launching called Search for the Next MythBusters. I already don't like this idea, but according to THR, the show will focus on finding an "all-new generation of myth-busting science superstars with mind-blowing build skills and nerves of steel."
I understand that Mythbusters is one of the biggest properties for The Science Channel, but will fans of the series tune in for a revival without Savage and Hyneman, or will they shun it?...

Mythbusters is preparing for its finale season on Discovery Channel. Last month, it was reported that Discovery cancelled the series after 14 seasons, but the series has one more season that will air on the network next year. Season 15 will premiere on January.
Fans were not happy to hear about the end of the series, and Adam Savage tried to help loyal Mythbusters fans by releasing a special video. The video was shared on Savage's Twitter account, and it serves as both a farewell message and sneak peek for the final season. During the video, Jamie Hyneman said the following:
"Hey, we’re here to address something you might have heard about Mythbusters. And we’re here to tell you that it is, in fact, true. Our crazy, wild, amazing, wooly, wonderful adventure is finally coming to a close."

Discovery Channel's "MythBusters" has been on the air since 2003, but after more than a decade of scientific mayhem it was announced that the show will come to an end in 2016 after its 14th season. In all that time the series has surprisingly never won an Emmy Award. After 14 seasons, MythBusters — Discovery’s pop-science engineering-fest, devoted to testing whether various widely held beliefs about the physical world are bogus — has confirmed that the show will go off the air in an explosive fireball after next season. Ratings have dipped, and even fans acknowledged the show was losing steam. Still, it’s news that makes you think about the cultural shift since 2001, and how the show’s hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman took part in that change. Over the course of nearly 3,000 myths, Savage and Hyneman (joined for much of the run by a trio of hosts doing secondary myths) can be credited with reviving a particular role: that of the public advocate for science and engineering. When MythBusters went on the air, only Bill Nye the Science Guy was out there, working on a much smaller scale, with (quite good) lab-bench demos on talk shows and the...

It's no myth. The popular Discovery Channel series Mythbusters will end after its next season, Variety reports.
Created by Peter Rees in 2003, the series is Discovery's longest running show and one of its most popular. Over the past 12 years and 250-plus episodes, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman have used the power of science to test some 1050 myths including topics like the possibility of mind control to whether you can eat a spoonful of cinnamon without water to the science behind Breaking Bad. Oh, and there were also some explosions. Around 900 to be specific.
Through the years, the show has maintained a popular and dedicated audience while earning seven Emmy nominations. The cancellation comes about a year after many of the show's recurring team (Grant Imahara, Kari Byron, and Tory Belleci) left the show and as hosts Savage and Hyneman have...

Unfortunately for Mythbusters fans, this news isn’t a myth; it’s fact. Discovery’s popular reality series, which has become one of cable’s longest-running shows, will come to an end after its upcoming 14th season. EW.com was the first to report the news, revealing that Mythbusters stars Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman have secretly known about the series’ fate for the past year, allowing them to create an incredible farewell season. “It was my greatest fear that Mythbusters would just stop and we wouldn’t be able to do proper final episodes,” Savage told EW. “So whether it’s myths about human behavior or car stories or explosion stories, we tried to find the most awesome example of each category and build on our past history.” When Season 14 is complete, Mythbusters will have aired 248 episodes and conducted 2,950 experiments. The show has also been nominated at the Emmys seven different times.

Just like mankind's belief in falsehood and superstition, Mythbusters is going off the air, EW reports. The end comes not from a nationwide shortage of ballistics gel but rather from the show's sagging ratings. Mythbusters has aired on Discovery since 2003, and has been the cable channel's longest-running series. According to Variety, the program has run 2,950 experiments on 1,050 different myths, and produced 900 explosions in the process. Hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage have known about the cancellation since the beginning of the year, and Savage promises EW the show's final episode will "go out with a bang." Poignantly, the two men — who are not friendly outside the show — say the final season will probably be the last time they ever spend time together. After all these years, it's still the human heart that's the greatest mystery of all.
