Few shows remain relevant following the end of their run, but Suits staged a big comeback last year when the first eight seasons landed on Netflix.
The former USA Network legal drama broke countless streaming records and reignited interest in the franchise.
Recognizing an opening to restart the franchise, NBC put a spinoff — Suits: L.A. — into development.
Despite being billed as a shoo-in for a pickup for the 2024-2025 TV season, it was absent from the recent wave of NBC series orders and the network’s fall 2024 schedule.
Thankfully, the lack of pickup isn’t bad news because NBC has yet to watch the Suits L.A. pilot.
“We’re excited about this. It’s a pilot and we’ll be screening it in June … Assuming that it gets picked up it would be for midseason next year,” NBCUniversal boss Jeff Bader shared this week, according to The Wrap.

Last year, an unexpected series rose to popularity – Suits. The USA Network original made its debut on June 23, 2011, and ran for a total of nine seasons. The series was a success for the network that also spawned a one-season spin-off featuring Gina Torres’ Jessica Pearson. However, Suits became an overnight sensation once it dropped on Netflix in late 2023. The series dominated in the ratings during the Summer and Fall seasons and became the most streamed show in over a year. Naturally, the success of this once-dead brand has been revived and it’s been confirmed that a

There’s nobody quite like Harvey Specter. The character from Suits is undeniably one of the best ever created. Since the show ended, the fan base for this character has only grown stronger. As a result, the idea of a spin-off emerged called Suits L.A., and work on it is in full swing, although details are still tightly under wraps.
While it’s a spin-off, the show promises to offer audiences something new while maintaining the integrity of the original series. And Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black, already proves that while loosely inspired by Harvey Specter, Black differs from Specter in one significant way.

How Does Stephen Amell’s Ted Black Differ From Gabriel Macht’s Harvey Specter?
As a spin-off, comparisons between Suits L.A. and the original series are inevitable, with particular scrutiny likely falling on Stephen Amell’s character, Ted Black.

American legal TV series Suits, which originally aired on the USA Network from 2011-2019, was back in demand last year. Thanks to its availability on Netflix, it became the most-watched streaming TV show last year. A new pilot of the show was ordered late last year, and so it is already in development.

Thanks to its success on Netflix, Suits has staged quite a comeback years after its conclusion on USA Network.
While fans have been calling for the legal drama’s return, we’re getting the next best thing.
NBC recently placed a pilot order for Suits: L.A., a new series set in the same world as Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) and Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres).
It seems like the network is fast-tracking the series because we learned today that Stephen Amell has been set as its lead.
The next chapter in the Suits universe finds the Arrow alum playing Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has switched things up by representing some of the most influential people in Los Angeles.
The series starts with his firm on the brink of collapse, and he’s forced to take big risks to survive and thrive.

The USA Network drama Suits became a streaming hit last summer after Netflix acquired the first eight seasons. With billions of minutes streamed, it’s no surprise that NBCUniversal would be eager to return to this world that so many people have grown to love. Whispers of a spinoff have been in the air since the show started gaining popularity, but now it’s official – Suits is coming back.

Meghan Markle back to the small screen for a Suits spinoff? It could happen. Studio executives are reportedly “prepared to pay what it takes” to make the Duchess of Sussex part ofSuits: Los Angeles. Amid the original series’ renewed popularity, execs want Meghan to participate in the spinoff show in front of or behind the camera.
Meghan’s received a ‘dream role’ offer for ‘Suits’ spinoff, ‘Suits: Los Angeles’
Meghan hasn’t acted in years except for a brief appearance in a coffee ad. She could be headed back to her pre-royal career soon. The Sun reported Meghan received an offer for a “dream role” in the upcoming Suits spinoff series called Suits: Los Angeles.
Meghan played paralegal-turned-lawyer Rachel Zane in the first seven seasons of the original USA legal drama. Then, she moved away from acting for life as a British royal.
Now, she could be part of a major TV deal.

2024 has barely gotten started yet Meghan Markle’s “industry image” has already taken a hit. The Duchess of Sussex’s absence from the Golden Globe Awards wasn’t good, according to an entertainment expert. They say it’s important the 42-year-old remind the world of her “ties” to “successful projects.” Therefore, joining the mini Suits reunion would’ve been hugely “beneficial.”

Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter), Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen), Gina Torres (Jessica Pearson), and Patrick J. Adams (Michael Ross) walked the red carpet before reuniting on stage to present the award for Best Drama Series.
Note, it’s not confirmed whether Meghan received an invite to the 2024 Golden Globes. Per Page Six, she reportedly turned it down due to a prior commitment.

The "Suits" renaissance continues over at Netflix where viewers are continuing to binge eight seasons of the legal drama at an alarming rate. There are actually nine seasons of "Suits" in total, but fans will have to go elsewhere to see how things wrap up, at least for the time being. At the end of season 7, Harvey (Gabriel Macht) travels to Chicago after his former partner Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) left their law firm, Pearson Darby Specter, to work as a fixer for newly elected Mayor, Bobby Novak (Morgan Spector). The dark history of Chicago politics is filled with backroom deals orchestrated by corrupt politicians that could make for compelling TV, leading the USA Network to greenlight the "Suits" spinoff "Pearson."
Hoping to expand on the success of "Suits" and capitalize on Torres' beaming star power, "Pearson" struggled to find the same success and was unceremoniously canceled after just one season.

The meteoric rise of "Suits" this year has been one of the most fascinating stories in television. Even though the show went off the air in 2019, its release on Netflix resulted in a massive resurgence for the series, with the legal drama setting all sorts of streaming viewing records. That success has not gone unnoticed. As a result, a new series set within the "Suits" universe is officially in development. Though not a revival of the beloved show that has become an unexpected monster hit, it could provide more stories in this universe for years to come, if all goes well.
Deadline recently reported that a new "Suits" series is in the works from original creator Aaron Korsh. Very little information was revealed, but the initial report stated that deals were still being hammered out by NBCUniversal behind the scenes, so nothing is set in stone. The only thing that...

As Ron Burgundy once taught us, there’s only one thing a man can do when he’s suffering from a spiritual and existential funk — and no, Champ, it’s not go to the zoo and flip off the monkeys — it’s buy new “Suits.”
That’s what Universal, funk or no funk, is doing.
A new “Suits” series, described to IndieWire as an “expansion” of the “Suits” world, is in development at UCP. “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh is the lead writer on the project, and several original EPs are likely to return. There is no pilot yet, we’re told, though this version will focus on new characters and likely take place in Los Angeles. In July, HBO series “Insecure,” “Ballers,” “Band of Brothers,” “Six Feet Under,” and “The Pacific” (and “True Detective” outside of the U.S.) copy-and-pasted their way onto Netflix. The first-of-its-kind move between the longtime rivals was a success, HBO chief Casey Bloys said at Wednesday’s Code Conference — and not just in terms of a licensing fee.
“What’s been nice about it is, without doing a thing on Max, the viewership of… ‘Ballers’ and ‘Insecure’ [on Max] really saw a spike when it was on Netflix,” Bloys said. “You’re introducing it to more people, it’s marketing.”
It’s becoming a more and more common marketing practice. Rerun episodes of USA Network series “Suits” were on Peacock for years, and they did fine — for USA Network reruns on Peacock. But when NBCUniversal licensed the nine-season (2011-2019) legal dramedy to Netflix in June, the bar (pun intended) was raised.

It lasted only one season, but fans still mourn the demise of the sci-fi/western Firefly. As much as we love watching (and rewatching) the series, sometimes it's not enough.
Are you longing for a little more Captain Tight Pants? Want to see Zoe quietly kick some adversary's butt? Wishing you could revisit the Hero of Canton?
Well, we can't bring back Firefly -- oh, how we wish we could! -- but we can tell you where you can tune in to see the cast now.
If you can't get enough of the crew of the Serenity, read on to find out where you can see them now.

Shepherd Book was the preacher with a cryptic past who boards the Serenity and befriends its crew. We loved Book's warmth and acceptance of his other crew members while still being able to hold onto his faith.

"Suits" is one of the unlikeliest TV hits of 2023 -- mostly, because it ended its original run back in 2019. Given new life on Netflix, it's a show that has captivated audiences like no other, in part due to its episodic storytelling, and hundreds of episodes. The cast of "Suits" included the likes of Meghan Markle, Wendell Pierce and Gina Torres, and was known for shocking twists and turns that helped sustain the story for over so many episodes.
While "Suits" wasn't the kind of show to start suddenly killing off characters, there were a few big name departures, -- like Markle, who departed for royal reasons, and Gina Torres, who made her departure from the show after season 7 due to her busy schedule. Torres played Jessica Pearson, who started out as a diversity hire at Gordon Schmidt Van Dyke before eventually becoming the managing partner of Pearson Specter Litt. In...

Banking on the renewed interest in “Suits,” which has become a streaming hit on Netflix 12 years after it first debuted on the USA Network, Peacock has exclusively added the legal series’ short-lived spinoff, “Pearson,” to its ranks.
Gina Torres starred as title character Jessica Pearson in the Chicago-set offshoot, which was canceled after one season. The story picked up after Pearson had been disbarred in New York State and accepted a job as a fixer for Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak (Morgan Spector).
The series, which was more about politics than legal battles, was based on a suggestion by Torres after the 2016 election. She also came on board as a producer.
“I started talking to [executive producers] Aaron Korsh and Daniel Arkin, and we started throwing ideas back and forth, until it became what it is now,” Torres told Collider in 2019.

Peacock is hoping to drive some eyeballs to Pearson, the short-lived Suits spin-off, after the latter became a surprising hit on Netflix this summer.
The NBCUniversal streamer has added the show, which starred Gina Torres, to its service today. It is hoping that new Suits fans may discover the spinoff as well, which is not available on Netflix.
Pearson ran for one season on the cable network in 2019 but was canceled a month and a half after its season ended.
Toplined by mothership series alumna Torres, Pearson centered on her character, powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson, as she enters the dirty world of Chicago politics. It also stars Bethany Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantel Riley, Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree and Isabel Arraiza.

It's hard to believe that a show that ended almost four years ago is delivering this much buzz.
But it shows that some of the most binge-able shows can get a renaissance years after they've ended.
Suits amassed another 3.7 billion minutes viewed across Netflix and Peacock.
A split for the streaming platforms has not been revealed, but the first eight seasons of Suits became available on June 17 on Netflix.
Make of that what you will. Peacock hasn't revealed if having exclusivity over Suits Season 9 has paved the way for a rise in sign-ups.
Suits is killing it for an acquired title, coming in well ahead of streaming original The Lincoln Lawyer (1.28 billion minutes viewed).
The news certainly bodes well for a revival, movie, or reboot, but it's hard to determine whether any of the cast would be interested.
Meghan Markle, who was missing from the last two seasons, probably wouldn't...

USA Network legal drama Suits has entered an important second phase in its TV life. After airing throughout the 2010s on basic cable, the show about a very busy New York law firm has become an unexpected hit in the streaming world.
Though all nine seasons of the series have been available to stream on Peacock for awhile now, the addition of the first eight seasons to Netflix on June 17 helped supercharge its popularity. According to Nielsen, Suits has broken streaming records with the number of minutes it was streamed across multiple platforms this summer. Anecdotally, you may even know of several folks cranking through the show’s 134 episodes right now – or maybe that person is even you!
While Suits‘ “second phase” as a bona fide streaming phenomenon is an impressive achievement for any show with cable origins, there is still one more phase in the TV life cycle it needed to conquer: a spinoff.

Suits is one of the best legal dramas that actually managed to make the profession of lawyer cool again. The USA Network series follows Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who has a photographic memory and joins Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) at a prestigious law firm. The only problem with that is Mike didn’t actually go to law school and he doesn’t have a degree about which he has to lie to everyone. Suits ran for 9 brilliant seasons and ended its run around three years ago in 2019. So, if you are a Suits fan and miss the series here are some brilliant shows like Suits you can watch.

After a decade of brawling in boardrooms on USA Network, Gina Torres is getting back into the field on 9-1-1: Lone Star, and she’s loving every minute of it. “As fabulous as it was playing Jessica Pearson, I feel safer climbing rigs and getting shot at than I did walking around in 5.5-inch stilettos for hours,” she tells TVLine.
That exact scenario unfolds in the Fox drama’s second season premiere (Monday, 9/8c) when Torres’ character Tommy Vega — who steps in to replace departing paramedic captain Michelle Blake (Liv Tyler) — takes part in a dangerous medical rescue mission atop a cell tower.

Gina Torres may not be playing one of Dracula's Brides (boo! hiss!), but at least she has a new TV role.
Just months after ABC passed on The Brides, the beloved Suits star is reuniting with Firefly's Tim Minear for her latest TV role.
Torres has been set to play a paramedic on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2, and the best part of the casting news is that we can confirm it is a series regular role.
She will play Tommy Vega, a parademic, who gave up her beloved job to raise her twin daughters, but the Covid-19 pandemic changed everything for her.
“With her husband’s restaurant going under, Tommy has no choice but to re-enter the workforce to support her family,” the official character description reads.

The Suits alum has been attached to lead the cast of ABC's soapy drama The Brides.
Torres is on board as Cleo Phillips, the leader of the three brides, who some would call a queen.

USA Network has canceled the Gina Torres-led “Suits” spinoff “Pearson” after one season, an individual with knowledge tells TheWrap.
The legal drama debuted in July and ended its 10-episode run in September. Its cancellation comes over a month after the planned series finale of “Suits,” which aired Sept. 25. “Suits” premiered on USA in 2011 and ran for nine seasons.
“Pearson” centers on the world of recently disbarred NYC powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson (Torres), a character that originated on “Suits,” as she adjusts to down and dirty Chicago politics. Newly appointed as Chicago Mayor Bobby Novak’s (Morgan Spector) right-hand fixer, Jessica is quickly embroiled in a crooked and dangerous new world where every action has far-reaching consequences. With her compulsion to win, Jessica is forced to reconcile her unstoppable drive with her desire to do the right thing – two things very much at odds.

USA Network has axed the Gina Torres-led drama “Pearson” after just one season.
The series was a spinoff of fellow USA series “Suits.” Torres reprised the role of disbarred powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson as she moves to Chicago and gets involved in the world of politics. Along with Torres, the series starred Morgan Spector, Bethany Joy Lenz, Simon Kassianides, Eli Goree, Isabel Arraiza, and Chantel Riley. Daniel Arkin served as executive producer and showrunner, with “Suits” creator Aaron Korsh also executive producing with David Bartis, Gene Klein, Doug Liman, Kevin Bray, and Chris Downey. Universal Content Productions produced the series.
The series began as a backdoor pilot during Season 7 of “Suits,” which saw Pearson travel back home to Chicago and accept a job working for a possibly corrupt mayor while also trying to reconnect with her family.
Despite the popularity of “Suits,” “Pearson” was never able to find a wide audience,...

Pearson is saying goodbye to the Windy City: USA Network has cancelled the Suits spinoff after just one season, TVLine has learned.
The offshoot followed Gina Torres’ disbarred lawyer Jessica Pearson as she became involved in the dirty world of Chicago politics, taking on the role of right-hand fixer for the city’s mayor (Homeland‘s Morgan Spector). The cast also included Simon Kassianides (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) as a cop/the mayor’s driver, Bethany Joy Lenz (One Tree Hill) as ambitious city attorney Keri Allen, Chantel Riley (Wynonna Earp) as Jessica’s cousin Angela, Isabel Arraiza (The Oath...

USA Network has opted not to renew Pearson for a second season. The decision comes a month and a half after the Suits spinoff starring Gina Torres ended its Season 1 run.
Toplined by the mothership series alumna Torres, Pearson centered on her character, powerhouse lawyer Jessica Pearson, as she enters the dirty world of Chicago politics.
Pearson originated on Suits, whose Season 7 finale served as a backdoor pilot for the spinoff. The offshoot, which hailed from Universal Cable Prods., was executive produced by Suits creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh, Suits Ep Daniel Arkin, who served as showrunner, Torres and Suits executive producers Doug Liman, David Bartis and Gene Klein of Hypnotic.
The news of the show’s cancellation is not surprising. Despite the main character’s strong following among Suits fans, Pearson, which is darker than the long-running legal drama, was not able to attract wide audiences, ranking as...

USA Network has rendered an unfavorable verdict on its first-year series Pearson.
The spinoff of Suits has been canceled after a single season on the NBCUniversal cable network. The decision comes about six weeks after the series ended its 10-episode run. With the cancellation, the Suits franchise is done on USA, as the flagship show also ended its nine-season run in September.
The Gina Torres-led spinoff followed her character, Jessica Pearson, from New York to Chicago, where she entered the rough-and-tumble political scene in the city as the mayor's (Morgan Spector) right-hand woman. The show also stars Simon Kassianides, Bethany Joy Lenz, Chantel ...

Pearson needs to be renewed. It has so much going for it.
We have Gina Torres, the beautful complexity of Jessica Pearson, and an intriguing look at the political genre. There is also Gina Torres, the adorable chemistry between Yoli and Derrick, and Simon Kassianides' killer performance as Nick D'Amato. Oh yeah, and did I mention Gina Torres?
We need a second season for many reasons. One reason is that Pearson Season 1 Episode 10 felt unfinished, and the series has more stories to tell.
The hour was anti-climactic, which made it a bit underwhelming. We barely scratched the surface with many of the most interesting arcs.
When you think about a season finale for a series, you think "everything all season was building up to this" and also "this is why you need to come back for more."
Will I be coming back for more? No doubt, but is it...
