Devon Edwards is a Chicago, Illinois native born and raised on the Southside. Devon relished a successful and exemplary military career where he served in 3 of the 5 branches. US Navy, US Army, and US Air Force (RET).
Devon holds a BA in Cinematic Arts & Science from Columbia College Chicago and a MS in Cinema Production from DePaul University. Devon interned for Dreams on Screen Productions based in Joliet, IL. Devon found his passion for film editing and worked on several feature films, one in which sold to Lionsgate Home Entertainment entitled "Dreams". Devon began creating his own content which gained him notoriety in articles such as The Red Line Project and The Columbia Chronicle. In 2013 he won Filmmaker of the Year with his short film about PTSD entitled "The Past you Can't Escape".
Devon has since completed the Writers Guild Foundation Writers Program for Veterans and the Academy Diverse Reader Training Workshop including 16 hours of Story Analysis at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He is an active member in the Melanin Poppin Scribes writers' group and the Hillman Grad Productions mentorship program.
Devon was recently awarded the 2020 Sundance Institute Gayle Stevens Award for his continued service as a volunteer to the Sundance Film Festival for the past 10 years.
