Carlye Archibeque
- Visual Effects
- Animation Department
Carlye Archibeque grew up in California's San Fernando Valley and
learned to love movies at an early age. She never thought she'd work in
film, but after graduating UCLA she found she needed a better job if
she was going to pay her student loans. She had interned at the Academy
Film Archive while in school and her first job in the motion picture
industry was as the assistant to the Archive Director at the Academy of
Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. After working in that department for a
year, she moved to the Awards Administration Department as an executive
assistant where she coordinated the awards meetings for the craft
branches of the Academy including Visual Effects, Cinematography, Art
Direction, and Film and Sound Editors. The department was also
responsible for organizing and producing the awards process and shows
for the Scientific and Technical Awards and the Student Academy Awards.
After eight years in that department she wanted a change and moved to
Sony Pictures Imageworks as the visual effects coordinator for
Spider-Man 2. After the project was over she moved to the marketing
department to coordinate marketing materials between the visual effects
shows and the studios that produced them. She was laid off as part of a
massive reorg at SPI in 2007 and moved to the Institute of Creative
Technologies at USC as a project manager. Once that project was
finished she was hired by Paul Debevic of LightStage fame to coordinate
his production of the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation. She continued on the
next year as the assistant producer of the festival and in 2009 she
produced the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival in New Orleans. The
next year she traveled the globe to show the festival to the world and
talk about the process of producing the festival. In 2014 she took a
job as a visual effects coordinator at Lit Post in Burbank, CA.
