If you don’t know, she stars in the network’s smash-hit period piece The Gilded Age as new money matriarch Bertha Russell. She also has been cast in the third season of The White Lotus, which is currently filming in Thailand.
Fans had been wondering if her filming schedule for both shows might conflict, but she just gave an update.
Keep reading to find out more…
First, Carrie explained that she didn’t even think The Gilded Age would be renewed!
She told Vanity Fair, “I was in talks with The White Lotus when my agent said, just so you know, the confidential information suggests that this might be happening. And that was kind of the first inkling I got. I was thrilled…We were most certainly on the bubble. As you know, I was feeling very cynical about it.

After three seasons, NCIS: Hawai’i has been cancelled by CBS. While the show was on the bubble, Deadline says it’s still a little surprising as there had been talks of an “abbreviated fourth and final season,” but that would have come with a massive budget cut.
NCIS: Hawai’i starred Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant, the first female Special Agent-in-Charge of the NCIS: Hawaiʻi Field Office. The finale of the third season, which will now be a series finale, will air on May 6th. Sources say that while it wasn’t meant to be a series finale, the episode won’t end on a major cliffhanger that will leave fans frustrated. With just three seasons under its belt, this places NCIS: Hawai’i has the shortest series in the franchise, following NCIS: New Orleans with 7 seasons and NCIS: Los Angeles with 14 seasons. The flagship series is still going strong and was...

In his review of the new horror film Immaculate (you can read it Here), JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray said the movie – which reunites Sydney Sweeney with Michael Mohan, who directed her in the erotic thriller The Voyeurs and the Netflix series Everything Sucks! – is “a decent throwback to Dario Argento-style Italian horror movies.” During a recent post-screening Q&a at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Boston Seaport, Mohan also revealed that one particular scene in the movie was inspired by the work one of my favorite grindhouse era filmmakers, Jack Hill – and that same scene also had to be salvaged with the help of Saw X director Kevin Greutert!
Our friends at Bloody Disgusting shared the information from the Q&A, reporting that Mohan said, “The biggest scene that did not work and I’m still not happy with is the scene when Isabelle tries to drown Cecilia. I studied a...

Sydney Sweeney is one of the rising stars in Hollywood. Although she began acting at an early age with guest roles in TV shows like Pretty Little Liars and Grey’s Anatomy, she did not gain recognition until she starred in the 2018 comedy-drama TV series Everything Sucks! Fast forward to 2019, she had the world’s attention with her breakout role as Cassie Howard in the HBO series Euphoria.
Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard in Euphoria
Needless to say, Euphoria, the fourth most-watched show in the history of HBO, exposed the artists to greater opportunities in the industry. Sweeney is one of the breakout talents from this show. While she has starred in some great projects over the years, she decided to take the steering into her own hands for her most recent project, Immaculate. In a recent interview, she revealed the real reason why she chose to work as a producer on the movie.

“Immaculate” marks the latest project to star Sydney Sweeney, who is known for television shows like “Euphoria” and “The White Lotus” and Sony’s latest superhero endeavor “Madame Web.” Sweeney also made up half of the dynamic duo — alongside Glen Powell — that brought “Anyone but You” to box office success, and just as she produced that rom-com, she’s a producer on the horror film “Immaculate.”
Director Michael Mohan had high praises for Sweeney, whom he has worked with before. The director was inspired by “The Devils” (1971) directed by Ken Russell as well as other Italian horror films to shape the story of Sweeney’s Cecelia.

Jack Black has officially expressed interest in making a School of Rock sequel, or as he quickly dubbed it, “School of Rock 2: Electric Boogaloo.”
Speaking with Joe, the Tenacious D frontman and Kung Fu Panda star lit up at the idea of returning to his School of Rock character Dewey Finn, though had one request should the project ever take shape — the involvement of original writer and White Lotus creator Mike White.
“Mike White wrote the first one, and he’s a genius,” Black said. “We’d have to have Mike White back in the saddle. But he’s real busy right now with White Lotus, the best show on TV.”
As Black pointed out, White is indeed quite busy with HBO’s The White Lotus. The show’s anticipated third season — which is to take place in and around Koh Samui, Phuket, and Bangkok, Thailand — is currently slotted for a 2025 release.

Sydney Sweeney’s career looked a bit different before she ended up starring in projects like Euphoria. So much so that she hated the idea of looking back at her previous works.
Why Sydney Sweeney has a negative opinion on her old movies Sydney Sweeney | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Sweeney would be the first to say that she isn’t a fan of her work past a certain point. She considered the Netflix comedy Everything Sucks to be her first true role. But before that, she already had a presence in the entertainment industry. She had a few acting credits to her name in lesser known projects that she would rather forget about.
“Anything before Everything Sucks! And Sharp Objects. I pretend that was a whole different person—I have blocked out so much of that time, of my high school life,” Sweeney told Cosmopolitan not too long ago.

HBO’s The White Lotus may be an anthology, but that doesn’t mean we’re done seeing characters from past seasons. Jennifer Coolidge returned as Tanya McQuoid in season 2 after becoming a fan favorite in the show’s first season. And now Natasha Rothwell, who played White Lotus staff member and wellness guru Belinda Lindsey alongside Coolidge in season 1, is set to come back for the show’s upcoming third season.
With the announcement of Rothwell’s return, it was revealed by HBO and Max content chairman and CEO Casey Bloys that creator Mike White plans to bring at least one character back each season. This means that any character lucky enough to survive their time at the White Lotus could come back in the future. In a 2022 interview for Variety, actor, writer, and director Christopher Guest said, “When I met (Jennifer Coolidge), I knew there was something going on that was special. And I was right, fortunately.” He praised her ability to command attention without commanding the dialogue. “This person stands out. Everyone else to me is invisible. You want to see her.”
We have seen her on our television and theater screens since the early 90s. And 2023 may have been her best year yet.
So, what happened to Jennifer Coolidge, the self-deprecating eccentric humorist and sometimes sex symbol, who owns over 100 credits in television and film? To know that, we must do what we always do: start at the beginning where the beginning began.
Jennifer Coolidge was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 28, 1961. She says she always looked old for her age, so she was able to buy a case of beer when she...

Last month, Neon acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the film and let it be known they’re planning to give it a theatrical release. Yesterday, a poster was unveiled (you can see it at the bottom of this article), and with it came the promise that a trailer for Immaculate would be arriving online today. Sure enough, the trailer is now available, and you can check it out in the embed above to help you figure out whether or not this is a movie you’ll want to see on the big screen when...

The 2023 Emmy Awards finally took place on Monday night, with series like The Bear, Beef and Succession winning big.
The ceremony, hosted by Anthony Anderson and held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, was postponed for months due to the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes. Thus, to be considered for an award, a television show, limited series or made-for-tv film must have been released between June 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.
The National Active Members of the Television Academy voted on the awards from August 18 to August 28, 2023.
Succession walked away with seven wins for its final season, including Best Drama and recognition for actors Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and Matthew Macfadyen. The show also received awards for Best Directing for a Drama Series for Mark Mylod and Best Writing for a Drama Series for Jesse Armstrong.

In a normal year, the 2023 Emmy Awards would have actually taken place in 2023. But last year was anything but normal in Hollywood, and the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes caused the award ceremony’s postponement to January 15, 2024.
Fans of Succession, The Bear, and Beef had a lot to celebrate as Emmy voters threw most of the awards in their direction. Succession and The Bear tied with six wins each, and Beef wasn’t far behind with five.
Highlights included Christina Applegate’s surprise appearance on stage to a standing ovation, Carol Burnett presenting to Quinta Brunson (the first Black actress to win as Lead Actress in a Comedy since 1981), and Niecy Nash-Betts’ powerful acceptance speech for Dahmer. There were also cast reunions and Sir Elton John finally received the E portion of Egot for his Farewell From Dodger Stadium special.

Way back in (checks notes) July last year, we reported on the Emmy nominations, noting that the strikes could delay it. Welp, delay it they did, and the 2023 ceremony has just happened in Los Angeles on Monday night. The ceremony, hosted by actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, had little reference to the strikes, but did dig back into TV history given that it was the 75th ceremony. Recent history, though, was more on voters' minds as Beef, Succession and The Bear continued their small screen awards domination.
Succession and The Bear nabbed six trophies each across acting, directing and writing categories, while Beef took home five. Other winners included Jennifer Coolidge (for The White Lotus) and Dahmer — Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story's Niecy Nash-Betts.

Jennifer Coolidge is wanting to give a special thanks to the “evil Gays” after winning the Emmy for drama actress during Monday night’s 2023 Emmys.
The actress was nominated alongside Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), J. Smith-Cameron (Succession) and Simona Tabasco (The White Lotus).
After taking the stage, Coolidge was quick to quip that she doesn’t “have the strength” to hold the award so she had to put it down next to her prior to giving her acceptance speech.
After thanking The White Lotus creator Mike White, Coolidge couldn’t help but joke of her character’s fate: “He [White] says I’m definitely dead so I’m going along with it.”
She then further alluded to her character Tanya McQuoid’s storyline, who died in the finale after discovering her...

Another edition of the Primetime Emmys is in the books, and Succession, The Bear and Beef cleaned up, earning almost every award they were nominated for in their respective categories. It’s crazy to think, but the nominees were announced way back in July, as the ceremony was postponed from September all the way until now due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

‘Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the theaters, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was the box office leader.
The latest and final entry in the current iteration of the DC Comics universe got off to a less-than-splashy start with $13.7 million on opening day across 3,706 locations — getting a boost from showtimes in premium large format auditoriums like Imax. It’s a downtick from the original “Aquaman,” which posted a $27.7 million opening day around the holidays in 2018.
The writing’s been on the wall for a while with the Warner Bros. release, with the studio seemingly having moved on as James Gunn prepares his reboot of DC Comics properties with “Superman: Legacy.” Even star Jason Momoa has stated that “it’s not looking too good” for his potential future as the King of Atlantis — hardly the encouraging rhetoric usually seen in a promotional junket. Benjamin Renner’s new comedy Migration offers a winning combination of a charming narrative and distinctive animation style. The film, which was written by White Lotus creator Mike White, is a tale of how a family of mallards embarks on an inspired journey from New England to Jamaica.
The Mallards, as they are aptly named, are a quartet of ducks living in a quiet pond somewhere in the Northeast. As in Renner’s striking 2012 animation Ernest & Celestine, Migration begins at bedtime. We meet Mack (Kumail Nanjiani) as he narrates a chilling story to his ducklings, Dax (Casper Jennings) and Gwen (Tresi Gazal), about the dangers of leaving their nest. He weaves an energetic tale about predatory herons and other monsters ready to devour adventure-seeking ducks. His stories have a fantastical edge to them — the preferred posture of overprotective parents. And they are brought to life by vivid 2D animations. There...

Fourteen months have gone by since we heard that Sydney Sweeney – whose credits include Euphoria, this weekend’s romantic comedy release Anyone but You, and the upcoming Sony Marvel movie Madame Web – was going to re-team with Michael Mohan, who directed her in the erotic thriller The Voyeurs, for the psychological horror film Immaculate. We hadn’t heard anything more about the movie until today, but it’s a positive update: Neon has acquired the U.S. distribution rights and they’re planning to give Immaculate a theatrical release. They didn’t say when this release might happen.
Scripted by Andrew Lobel, Immaculate sees Sweeney taking on the role of Cecilia, a woman of devout faith who is offered a fulfilling new role at an illustrious Italian convent. Her warm welcome to the picture-perfect Italian countryside is soon interrupted as it becomes clearer to Cecilia that her new home harbors some dark and horrifying secrets.

Elizabeth Banks wants to play a murder victim on HBO’s The White Lotus.
The actress-producer spoke about her dream role on Live With Kelly and Mark Friday while promoting the new animated movie Migration she stars in, which was written by The White Lotus writer, director and executive producer Mike White four years ago, before he embarked on the hit HBO murder mystery series.
“I want to be murdered so badly on The White Lotus,” she said. “Kill me. Please, kill me. I don’t know how it happens but…,” Banks said before getting interrupted by Ripa who implored her that she had to do it, prompting Banks to say, “Tell him!,” referring to While.
Ripa obliged, turning to the camera to say, “Mike White, please put your friend Elizabeth Banks in White Lotus season 3 or 4. We’ll take either one.”
As Deadline reported last month, The White Lotus started casting for its upcoming third installment immediately after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike on Nov. 9.
There has been a lot of activity since, with the producers sending offers to several well known stars and reading a lot of actors. So far, no new cast members have been locked in and set to join Season 1’s Natasha Rothwell. She is reprising her role as Belinda in the Thailand-set third season, which will follow those that are vacationing at a resort there.
As Deadline reported, thirteen roles are casting, nine of them series regulars — ranging in ages between 18-80s — with a patriarch, a corporate executive, an actress, a couple of mothers, a misfit and a yogi in the multi-generational group.
It is unknown which of the Season 3 characters will turn up dead but the actors who played the major victims in the first two seasons, Murray Bartlett and Jennifer Coolidge, both earned major awards recognition for their performances.
Filming is tentatively slated to begin in early February in Thailand.
“It’s going to be a supersized White Lotus,” White said about Season 3 last month. “It’s going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don’t know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that’s a good thing.”
It is unclear whether this means that the number of episodes would increase again after going up from 6 in Season 1 to 7 in Season 2.
Originally targeted for 2024, Season 3 is “likely moving into 2025” due to the strikes, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max, said last month.
Following the Season 2 finale of The White Lotus last December, White said that Season 3 will explore “death in Eastern religion and spirituality.”
Said HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi in May, “It’s an exploration about spirituality versus the ego. And it’s set against the Eastern religion.”...

This past July marked 10 years since Thundercat released his sophomore album, Apocalypse. Now, the virtuoso bassist is commemorating the release with a deluxe reissue, titled Apocalypse 10-Year Edition, due on March 1st, 2024 via Brainfeeder.
Produced by Flying Lotus, the original Apocalypse featured 12 tracks, all presenting Thundercat’s unique sound and capacity for expression. The reissue will arrive with two previously-unheard bonus tracks: “Before I loved myself ‘I’ pooped my ankles (true)” featuring Taylor Graves and Thundercat’s late collaborator, Austin Peralta; and “Paris” featuring Mono/Poly.
Thundercat and Peralta were close collaborators, with the latter appearing on the former’s debut album, The Golden Age of Apocalypse, in 2011. Peralta’s death in 2012 at the age of 22 hit Thundercat particularly hard, which influenced Apocalypse.
The deluxe version of Apocalypse follows the reissue of Thundercat’s debut album, The Golden Age of Apocalypse, for its 10th anniversary in 2021. When the new record arrives in March,...

“Wonka,” a look at how the famous chocolatier Willy Wonka honed his ability to satisfy a sweet tooth, opened to $43.2 million to top the international box office. The fantasy film stars Timothée Chalamet in the title role and opens domestically next weekend.
The Warner Bros. release got off to a hot start overseas, debuting in 37 markets, including Spain, Germany, Mexico, Japan and the U.K. — “Wonka’s” $11.1 million start in the latter country is the studio’s second-biggest opening of the year, ranking just behind “Barbie.” Like many recent Hollywood films, “Wonka” struggled in China, earning a measly $3.2 million. The studio noted that outbreaks of the flu and a cold front across much of the country may have depressed ticket sales. In addition to the U.S., the film will debut in 40 more international markets next weekend.

After wayward creative detours with the dreary feature film “Lucy in the Sky” and the over-ambitious fourth season of “Fargo,” Noah Hawley gets back on track with the new season of his FX anthology series.
The latest “Fargo” has all the elements writer-producer-showrunner Hawley knows how to deploy. They may be well-worn tropes at this point: chaos agents, deadpan black comedy, hapless hit men, formidable women, hapless feds, a few good cops, perfectly orchestrated bloodshed beats, hapless wrong kidnap victims, Upper Midwest accents you couldn’t cut with a wood chipper and perhaps a supernatural element or two. But they’ve been craftily reimagined.
New in Season 5 is some ongoing criticism of right-wing extremism — both of the economic Darwinian and Christian patriarchal kind — and other hints that it’s politics as much as people’s inherent stupidity that’s tearing America apart. The implicit message is that those factors are...

Los Angeles music and food festival LA3C took a unique approach for the event’s second year, as several thousand attendees made their way through about a half-mile stretch of Downtown LA’s historic core this past weekend from November 10th through the 12th. But rather than occupy a traditional festival ground focused around one larger main stage like it did last year at LA State Historic Park, the festival instead took a decidedly more intimate approach this time and booked four historic, couple thousand-cap venues along Broadway: the Orpheum Theatre,...
