Lets face it: you already know whether youre going to like this movie or not from the title alone, right? The Asylum Mega- franchise has garnered itself a fair number of fans over the past few years, with high-brow classics such as Mega Piranha and last years super-popular Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus doing the business for Syfy’s viewership by providing an ultra-cheap form of entertainment enjoyed more for its laughable acting and special effects than its stellar writing or innovative filmmaking.
The plot comes straight out of Piranha, with once-thought-extinct goblin sharks emerging from cracks left in the ocean floor after a number of earthquakes, resulting in a flash tsunami that covers the west coast of America with high water, including the titular Malibu. Thanks to Fangoria, we now have the trailer for "Avalanche Sharks," which continues the obsessions of making ridiculous shark movies. This one happens to be a sequel to "Sand Sharks" that was released recently and had sharks attacking people in sand. Check out the trailer for "Avalanche Sharks" below. Plot: After a massive avalanche, the staff of Twin Pines Ski Resort begin to receive reports of missing people and creatures that move beneath the snow. As the body count slowly begins to pile up, the management tries to cover up the situation, which eventually leads to disaster on their busiest day of the year: Bikini Snow Day. "Avalanche Sharks" is directed by Scott Wheeler (Transmorphers) from a script by Keith Shaw (Malibu Shark Attack). Trailer:...

Proving nowhere is safe from the clutches of the Great White – not the ocean, nor air, nor land, and now not even mountainside – is Avalanche Sharks. For now, because God is a cruel and unpredictable force, he has given our greatest enemy the ability to appear out of water, without warning to swim through the snow and rain chaos down upon our snowboarding trips. If a normal avalanche wasn’t enough, the staff at this ski resort is receiving reports of missing persons (and blooood) that they keep trying to cover up to save face for their busiest day of the year. You have to guess what that is. It’s Bikini Snow Day, obviously. With the mountainside covered in drunk, horny co-eds, the ancient snow sharks have awakened their taste for human flesh, and now must feast. Cue an hour and a half of frantic, bikini-clad sprinting through the snow as it gets sprayed with blood...

Fango just reeled in an exclusive trailer to the upcoming Syfy-style fishy saga, directed by Transmorphers Scott Wheeler and written by Malibu Shark Attack’s Keith Shaw. Starring Fear Clinic’s Kate Nauta, Avalanche Sharks is reportedly more of a […]...

Sharks are having the best decade ever. Although Steven Spielberg made you want to stay out of the water, a whole new generation of filmmakers is interested in making you afraid of sand, Malibu, and, now, ski resorts. It seems like the next logical step in the subgenre’s progression if you ask me. After all, someone is already stuck them in a tornado, so why not have them flopping around inside an avalanche? It’s all about moving forward. “Transmorphers” director Scott Wheeler and “Malibu Shark Attack” writer Keith Shaw are hoping you’re ready for “Avalanche Sharks,” a film which finds these massive oceanic killers attacking scantily-clad individuals at a ski resort during Bikini Snow Day. Yes, Bikini Snow Day. I swear I haven’t had anything to drink this morning. I wouldn’t believe me, either. Here’s the official synopsis: After a horrific avalanche, the staff...

Good news, Whovians! According to the BBC, Doctor Who‘s latest Tardis companion has been chosen — probably in a bloody battle ’til the death cagematch (or probably not). But the young actress who beat out hundreds of other up-and-comers to star alongside Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor is 25-year-old Jenna-Louise Coleman. Here is an excerpt from the press release from the BBC:
“Best known for her roles in Emmerdale (Jasmine Thomas) and Waterloo Road (Lindsay James), Jenna will replace Karen Gillan when she and Arthur Darvill bow out of the show in a heartbreaking departure after one final series of rollercoaster voyages later this year on BBC One.
Jenna says: “I’m beyond excited, I can’t wait to get cracking; working alongside Matt I know is going to be enormous fun and a huge adventure.”
The Doctor will meet his new friend in a dramatic turn of events as...

We told you back in December that Steven Moffat had announced that Karen Gillan would be leaving Doctor Who some time during Season 7. We tried to keep it quiet for the spoilerphobes but there is just no way that news like that can be kept under wraps.
Well, the day has come for the BBC to announce who The Doctor’s new companion will be, and it is…
Jenna-Louise Coleman. Our UK friends know her from the Waterloo Road, Emmerdale, and the new Titanic series. Here is the press release from the BBC - and be warned, it talks about which episode will be Amy’s last, and more:

It's been rumoured for a while but today it was confirmed that former Emmerdale actor Jenna-Louise Coleman is to join Doctor Who as Matt Smith's new companion.
25 year old Jenna-Louise (represented by Troika), is originally from Blackpool. Whilst auditioning for drama schools, she landed the part of Jasmine Thomas in Emmerdale in 2005 and went on to play "hard girl" Lindsay James in Waterloo Road. She will soon appear as Annie Desmond in Julian Fellowes's new ITV1 drama Titanic.
She will take over from Karen Gillan, who has played Amy Pond in the show for the past two series, in what showrunner Steven Moffat described as "a very, very different way for the Doctor to meet his new friend".
The writer refused to even reveal the name of Coleman's character in the show. "Who she's playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her are all...

It feels like it has been too long since Syfy has uncorked some new man-eating monster movies for us to sink our teeth into. That'll change come June when the network unleashes a pair of toothy monstrosities: Ice Road Terror and Swamp Shark. Syfy has posted a trio of bloody scenes from each monster mash.
The carnage begins on June 11th at 9/8 Central when Ice Road Terror reaches its destination on your television dial. Dylan Neal ("Dawson's Creek", "Blood Ties") and Brea Grant (Halloween II, "Heroes") star in this creature feature about Alaskan ice road truckers and a research analyst tangling with an unearthed prehistoric monster. The director (Terry Ingram) and writer (Keith Shaw) of Syfy's Phantom Racer reteam for this creature feature inspired by the popular reality series "Ice Road Truckers". Curiously, though, one thing you will not actually see in these clips is any actual ice road trucking.

Those "Ice Road Truckers" you watch on the History Channel are used to contending with driving over frozen lakes and roads and other dangerous subzero conditions near the Arctic Circle. Syfy's Ice Road Terror introduces a road hazard those brave truckers aren't used to dealing with: an unfrozen prehistoric monster.
Ice Road Terror stars Brea Grant ("Heroes"), Ty Olsson ("Battlestar Galactica"), Dylan Neal ("Dawson's Creek"), and Malcolm Stewart ("Kyle Xy"). Terry Ingram, a filmmaker no stranger to making TV movies about unholy terrors having previously helmed Phantom Racer, Odysseus: Voyage to the Underworld, and Paparazzi Princess: The Paris Hilton Story, directs from a script by Keith Shaw (Malibu Shark Attack, Phantom Racer).
Here's the plot synopsis provided by sales distributor Content Film:
The treacherous Alaskan ice road becomes the setting for a deadly pursuit in this suspenseful thriller. Two truckers are preparing to traverse a dangerous path across frozen rivers...

Disney fans who are used to seeing actress Christy Carlson Romano as the consummate Disney mean girl in such fare as Cadet Kelly, the Cutting Edge sequels, Even Stevens, and the voice of Kim Possible may be shocked at her performance in Suicide Dolls, showing at Sliff. The talented Romano gave hidden depth to many of the stereotyped Disney good/bad girl roles, but in Suicide Dolls, she does a complete 360 as the foul-mouthed, drug-addled high-schooler Amber who, with her best friend Jade (Laquita Cleare, also one of the film’s producers), is contemplating ending it all.
Giving themselves one day to record a video diary and do some things for the last time, the girls basically sit around talking, complaining, arguing, and generally baring their souls. Both have problems, both think they have nothing to live for, and both lean on each other for comfort and support.
