At one point during the concert, frontman Corey Taylor exclaimed, “Tonight it doesn’t matter where you came from, it doesn’t matter when you were born. This year is 19-fucking-99. We’re going to play you some songs from beyond that year, but goddamn it, it all started in ’99 and it is starting again here tonight.”

The O’Keefe Music Foundation, a youth music education program in Ohio, has unleashed its latest video — a blistering cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Wish” that’s well on its way to viral fame.
The O’Keefe Music Foundation (Omf) is a nonprofit music organization that seeks to provide high quality music education to any child in the world for free. Omf has a particular affinity for helping its students create music videos for YouTube, with the new Nin clip being a stellar example.
This isn’t your standard performance clip, but a full-on professional concept video befitting of a major band. What starts as a rather humdrum birthday party goes off the rails when the kids pick up their instruments and lay waste to the living room where their gear resides, ripping through the 1993 Nin single.
Imagine a children’s b-day party turned DIY house show and you’ll get the gist.

Slipknot have revealed that they’ve begun rehearsing with a new mystery drummer.
The band teased the replacement for Jay Weinberg in a social media post, sharing an image of a broken drum stick with the word: “Rehearsal.”
To no surprise, fan speculation is at a fever pitch, with many convinced that Weinberg’s replacement is Eloy Casagrande based on the Promark drum stick seen in the social media post (Casagrande’s brand of choice). The timing does align, as Casagrande recently exited Sepultura in rather abrupt fashion just weeks before the Brazilian thrash band embarked on its farewell world tour.
Slipknot and their new drummer have just over a month to hone the setlist. The band is set to play its first gig of 2024 on April 27th at Sick New World in Las Vegas, followed by appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 12th and Sonic Temple in Columbus,...

Earlier this week, Slipknot announced the UK/European leg of a 2024 tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal 1999 self-titled LP. In a new interview, percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan confirms that Slipknot will perform the album in its entirety, and hints that the band may play some intimate club shows, as well.
When asked straight-up by Kerrang! if the band planned to perform the full album, Clown responded, “Are you joking right now? You’re talking about the anniversary of one of the greatest metal albums to ever release in the thought process known as reality. … You think for one moment that this album isn’t going to be played in its entirety in front of, like, a hundred people, 200 people, 300 people, 50,000 people. I’m not going to live forever, man. Neither is everybody else. Things are changing very quickly. I ain’t got no more time to fuck around.

Jay Weinberg received a tremendous amount of support from fellow musicians upon being let go from Slipknot, but not from his former Against Me! bandmate Laura Jane Grace. The singer-guitarist mocked the drummer’s ouster from the masked metal band, even calling him a “little bitch boy.”
The cantankerous relationship between Grace and Weinberg dates back to the drummer’s stint in Against Me! and eventual departure from the punk band. Weinberg was a member of Against Me! from 2010 to 2012, and when he joined Slipknot in 2014, Grace tweeted, “Dear Slipknot, good luck with that. #shitbag.”
In another series of tweets at that time, Grace wrote, “We once had a drummer who sprained his ankle and wanted our tour manager to call 911 and have an ambulance come for him #entitlement. When our tour manager said no the drummers Daddy called him and scolded him saying the drummer was a ‘star’ and...

As the singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, as well as solo artist, Corey Taylor has rubbed shoulders with many of his own personal heroes in the business. But his encounters with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister are among the most memorable.
In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, the Slipknot frontman fanboy’d out on some of the famous rockstars he’s met over the years, most of which entail humorous — and in Lemmy’s case, downright raunchy — anecdotes.
Taylor had only met the Motörhead mastermind in passing prior to running into him in the kitchenette at the German headquarters of guitar company Gibson. As Taylor recounted, while the two were “smoking out of the window like high-schoolers, just being dicks,” Lemmy proceeded to tell what Taylor claims to be “one of the filthiest jokes” he’s ever heard in his life.

Guns N’ Roses played the penultimate show of their 2023 tour at L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl on Thursday night, and they used the occasion to debut “The General.” “This could be very interesting,” Rose told the crowd. “If there’s ever a better place to fall on your face, I think this fuckin’ counts.” Check out a fan-shot video.
“The General” is one of many Chinese Democracy-era songs fans learned about long before the album came out. Former Skid Row vocalist Sebastian Bach raved about it in a series of interviews.

The 13-year-old musical prodigy, Nandi Bushell, is back with a new song, and instead of a cover, this time it’s an original. Teaming up with actor Josh Brolin, Bushell has released “Sweet Nightmares,” a spooky track she wrote which arrives on the perfect date: October’s Friday the 13th. Stream the single below.
With a driving rock arrangement, “Sweet Nightmares” features a haunting, ghoulish vocal performance from Brolin, though he mostly offers interjections like “Run, run, you better run!” Taking center stage are Bushell’s vocals, which range from spitting verses about how “leaders are liars” to melodic choruses that feel equal-parts Britpop, rock, and campy horror.
For her part, Bushell explained that things which are “a bit scary and dark” are often her favorite. “My favorite movie is Batman: Dark Knight,” she said in a statement. “My favorite director is Tim Burton; my favorite computer game is Little Nightmares...

Adam Beach must leave his family in a desperate attempt to protect them in an exclusive first look at “Exile,” which you can watch above.
The trailer lays out the high concept. Ted Evans is being menaced by a man connected to a prior sin. He previously was in a fatal auto accident while driving under the influence. The man whose family he killed is about to be released from prison. The deal: “You leave your family, or I kill your family.” However, his wife isn’t so willing to give up on him. Of course, that’s because she thinks that the threat is not tangible but rather a manifestation of his guilt.
Written by Michael Beaton and directed by Jason James, “Exile” will be distributed by Electric Entertainment and released Oct. 10 on VOD. Amber Ripley and Sammie Astaneh are producers. Ellie Fox, Mark Williams, Tai Duncan and Jhod Cardinal...

Corey Taylor has released his sophomore solo album, CMF2
The album sees the Slipknot frontman, who graces our latest Consequence Cover Story, surrounded by a cast of musicians he also calls his pals: bassist Eliot Lorango, drummer Dustin Robert, and guitarists Zach Throne and Christian Martucci.
Taylor and company worked alongside producer Jay Ruston on a set of songs that traverses the singer’s musical background. There’s grungy Alice in Chains nods like “Dead Flies,” fast punk rock (with guitarwork from Taylor himself) on “Talk Sick”, heavy alternative metal (“Beyond”) and references to his acoustic/folk influences like Ani Difranco and Ray Lamontagne (“Breath of Fresh Smoke”).
Notably the album was recorded using an old-school, hands-on approach that eschewed the use of heavy post-production and digital plugins. Rather, the songs were tracked live with some overdubbing, giving the LP a raw and live sound that is becoming more infrequent in modern hard rock.

Since forming in 1999, Slipknot have famously boasted a large lineup — almost always consisting of nine members. While there have been significant changes through the years, one member who seems irreplaceable is frontman Corey Taylor — or maybe not?
Bassist Paul Gray tragically died in 2010, while drummer Joey Jordison (who would later pass away in 2021) parted ways with the band in 2013. In recent years, percussionist Chris Fehn and keyboardist Craig Jones were let go from the masked metal act. Each time, Slipknot have found a replacement and persevered as a band.
In a new interview with Rock Antenne (watch below), Corey Taylor discussed the future of Slipknot and what it would look like if other longtime members, including himself, decided to step away.
Speaking hypothetically, Taylor suggested that if he were to retire from Slipknot, he would gladly seek out his own replacement. Of course, such a scenario would only unfold if...

Masked metallers Slipknot have unleashed a surprise six-song EP, Adderall, along with two new music videos. The videos are for the previously unreleased tracks “Memories (Adderall – Rough Demo)” and “Death March,” with both clips directed by Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan.
The Adderall EP features alternate versions and reworkings of the band’s song “Adderall,” as well as the non-lp tracks “Death March,” “Red or Redder” and “Hard to Be Here.” The original version of “Adderall” is the leadoff track on Slipknot’s most recent album, 2022’s The End, So Far.
“Deconstructing to continuously pave the way for evolution,” Clown said of the new EP and videos in a statement. “At this point in the program, nothing is safe.”
Earlier this year, Slipknot released the surprise standalone single “Bone Church,” featuring another Clown-directed video. The “Bone Church” video has surpassed more than one million views to date.

Slipknot announced have parted ways with keyboardist Craig Jones, who had been a member of the band since 1996. The masked metal outfit gave no reason for the split in a social media post that was almost immediately taken down, but quickly debuted a new member at their European tour kickoff on Wednesday night (June 7th) at the Nova Rock festival in Austria.
The note posted on Slipknot’s social media pages on Wednesday, June 7th (before it was deleted) stated, “To our fans, Slipknot is announcing that we have parted ways with Craig Jones. We wish Jones all the best for the future.”
Shortly after sharing the news of Jones’ exit, the band took the stage in Austria with a new mystery member, whose masked image they shared on their social pages. On Thursday morning (June 8th), the band also shared a eerie video with a “Slipknot” backdrop in the background.

Oh come on, you knew it was coming. Despite being a film that made just about every possible misstep they could take, had actually managed to accomplish something very few films do. Because did you know that today’s film actually won an Academy Award? Well that ‘aint the half of it’ as we’ve got gifted rodents, a trailer the world wasn’t supposed to see, and so much licensed music it’ll make your head spin. All on top of a script that was written in just 6 weeks! Today we’re talking about David Ayer’s…or well…maybe we shouldn’t identify it as that since he’s been pretty adamant that this isn’t his cut so…today on DC Revisited we’re covering Warner Brother’s Suicide Squad.
One key thing to remember when looking at the development of Suicide Squad, is that Warner still...

A new trend of creating music generated by artificial intelligence (AI) is not sitting well with Corey Taylor. The Slipknot singer has lambasted the practice, saying he “can’t stand it.”
AI-generated music has made headlines recently for mimicking popular artists, with fans even being fooled last month by what appeared to be a “new” song by Drake and The Weeknd. Other acts have also been “copied” using technology that mirrors their voices and even writes lyrics in the style of specific musicians.
Some artists, like Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows, have hailed the technology, calling it an “incredible tool” for musicians, but not Taylor. The Slipknot frontman is clearly not a fan of AI-generated music, as he declared in a new interview with Kerrang! Radio.
“I don’t care for any of that crap, dude, to be honest,” Taylor said. “I don’t know what people are trying to prove.

After three Conjuring movies, Vera Farmiga knows what a demon should sound like, so it’s no surprise that when she tackled singing Slipknot’s “Duality” at a Rock Academy gig in Kingston, New York, she easily matched Corey Taylor growl for growl.
She praised the music program and thanked the musicians before introing the song. “I heard that we’re talking at 106 decibels so we’re just gonna simmer it down right now,” she told the crowd. “This is for all the chin pressers, all the eye pushers, the skin scratchers,...

Some people will do anything to get a better view of the show! Case in point: Slipknot were forced to pause their set at Knotfest Australia on Friday (March 24th) in Melbourne after a fan scaled a massive speaker tower.
Audience footage of the performance sees the climber seated atop a dangerously tall speaker tower facing the stage. He remained there for several songs, inciting both jeers and shouts of encouragement from the crowd below. It took until the ninth song of the set, “The Heretic Anthem,” before festival organizers finally directed the daredevil fan to come down.
“Hi Knotfest, we’ve stopped the show because there’s people up in the air,” said an announcement over the Pa. “Anybody that’s up in a tower needs to get down or the show will not commence until you’re down.”

The tribute included Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor taking the stage to play the Pink Floyd classic “Wish You Were Here,” followed by “Hunger Strike,” a song originally recorded by Cornell’s band, Temple of the Dog. The 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday, June 1st, and this year’s Nightfall lineup looks to be yet another strong selection of genre films set to thrill festival-goers night after night.
For those of you in the southern California area, the 2016 Laff runs through Thursday, June 9th and is calling the ArcLight Culver City Cinema home this year. Here’s a look at what we’re anticipating once the Laff begins later this week, and for more information on the festival, please visit:

Abattoir (directed by Darren Lynn Bousman)
Full disclosure: Abattoir was edited by my significant other, so I am certainly biased, but my enthusiasm for the film comes from my excitement to see Bousman return to the hardboiled world of horror after working on The Devil’s Carnival musicals and his comedy-infused segment in last year’s Tales of Halloween anthology.

Lamb of God offset the Los Angeles sunshine with the darkness of "512" during Thursday's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, performing the brooding single on the show's outdoor stage. Led by Randy Blythe's dark bellow and the explosive soloing of guitarist Mark Morton, the metal veterans inspired a crowd mosh pit.
In June, Lamb of God premiered a macabre music video for "512" filled with dead bodies and murderous revenge. The track is featured on the Virginia band's eighth LP, VII: Sturm Und Drang, which was inspired by Blythe's life-changing stint in Prague's Pankrác Prison.

If ever a band deserved more publicity, it’s Stone Sour. They’ve forever been thrown into the shadow of Corey Taylor’s more famous “other” band, Slipknot, meaning that they have far too frequently just been referred to as his side-project, or as “Slipknot-lite”. It’s pretty depressing.
Stone Sour fans know this isn’t the case. First of all, because there isn’t actually any comparison to be made. They’re different bands. And secondly, because Stone Sour have some of the most incredible songs to have been released in metal in the twenty-first century so far. Corey is a stunning vocalist, Josh is an exceptional guitarist, and the other musicians that have orbited the band (Roy, Jim, Christian, Johny, Rami, Joel, Shawn, Jason and Mike) are all truly gifted too.

It's been more than a decade since the 1990s ended, yet the Internet can't seem to go a day without a reminder of the neon slap bracelets that may have been banned from your school.

On Monday we lost "The Pig," bassist for the band Slipknot, of which he was a founding member. The heavy metal musician, whose real name is Paul Gray, was found dead at the age of 38 in a hotel room in Iowa, and as of this writing the cause of death is unknown. He tragically leaves behind a wife, who is pregnant with their first child.
Being that they're such a theatrical group, it's surprising that Slipknot hasn't appeared in more films, but there are two of note. One is the 2002 remake of Rollerball, in which they appear onscreen performing the song "I Am Hated," while current internet sensation Chris Klein hangs out with LL Cool J at a club -- by the way, Lost's Naveen Andrews also co-stars in the movie, if you need more Sayid after the show's finale. One of my favorite questions asked about the band's...

Police say metal band Slipknot bassist Paul Gray has been found dead in an Iowa hotel room. Police say a hotel employee found the 38-year-old Gray dead in a room Monday at the Town Plaza Hotel in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines. Foul play isn't suspected. The Polk County Medical Examiner's Office plans an autopsy Tuesday. Most of the band's members grew up in the Des Moines area. Slipknot is known for its grotesque masks, and released its first album in 1999. It sold more than a million copies. This story will be updated as it develops. Copyright (2009) Associated...

“You can’t consider yourself a hardcore kid or a metalhead without owning a Roadrunner album.” - Jamey Jasta, Hatebreed.
In 2004, Cees Wessels, founder and owner of Roadrunner Records, approached longtime A&R chief Monte Conner about creating a project and event to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the label. Roadrunner had humble beginnings, launching in 1980 under the name Roadracer, as an Amsterdam-based importer of U.S. metal albums to be repackaged for a European audience. Over the course of the two and a half decades that would follow, Roadrunner would evolve into one of the most respected outlets for metal and hard rock on a Global scale.
After launching the careers of bands such as Sepultura, Deicide, Slipknot, Mercyful Fate, Obituary, and Fear Factory, horror fans would soon feel the direct effect of the label. Long providing tracks for numerous films over the years, Roadrunner entered the Soundtrack realm...
