Welcome to this week’s review of Impact Wrestling, which this week follows up not only the UK tour but also last week’s Turning Point PPV (even though this week’s show was taped before both – hence Shelley wrestling in the main event). Let’s get into the review…
Match #1: Tasha Steelz def. Deonna Purrazzo The following is courtesy of impactwrestling.com:
After being unable to dethrone Mk Ultra as Knockouts World Tag Team Champions, the alliance between Deonna Purrazzo and Tasha Steelz implodes! Steelz gains the early advantage with a head scissors takedown. Purrazzo ties her up, then delivers a dropkick to the ribs. They go counter for counter and both Knockouts are down following a double clothesline. Purrazzo hits a side Russian leg sweep, then locks in the Fujiwara Armbar. Steelz fights free and locks in her own version of the Venus de Milo. Purrazzo transitions...

Serena Williams might be best known for her tennis, but it's far from the only passion in life she's had, fashion being the other big one.
Williams has been a very busy person ever since retiring, and that's because she's always been passionate about many things. Tennis was, for much of her life, her biggest passion, and the things she did in the sport are well documented.
Some other passion of hers includes business, which is an ever-growing portfolio for her, but also fashion, which has never been in the backseat either. Her fashion statement came both on and off the court, and it's just something she enjoys.
After accepting a fashion icon award recently, Williams spoke a bit about her fashion journey, which included some pretty iconic tennis outfits as well.
I knew when I was a little girl that I was different, so I explored fashion and style...

Venus Williams is back at Wimbledon , for the first time since 2021, and she talked about the nightmare that her rehab proved to be.
Venus Williams has always been iconic. Ever since she first appeared on the Wta Tour and to this day, Venus didn't change. She still has the same burning passion she always had and she still has a colorful hairstyle. It's her first Wimbledon since 2021 as she missed last year due to injuries.
She nearly missed this one as well after sustaining an injury earlier this year at the Australian Open. She worked very hard to make herself ready and returned at the Libema Open not too long ago. I t was a valiant effort but a loss in the end .
She then made it to Birmingham and won a match there and now she's back at Wimbledon, excited to be back, after a difficult rehab. The body...

Frances Tiafoe wants to win Wimbledon which isn't unique in itself but the American is probably one of those that could truly do it.
Tiafoe winning Wimbledon would be a spectacle not only because it would be unexpected but because the American generally makes his matches a spectacle. His run at the US Open last year was utterly incredible as he narrowly missed out on going all the way.
He hasn't been shy about his ambitions this year elevating them to a much higher level. His seriousness about it was visible on the court in the way he approached matches. He's won two Atp trophies this year (one on grass) and made it to the Top 10 becoming the first African American player in the Top 10 in 14 years . He's not satisfied with that, he wants to win the big one.
I'm here for one reason, try and win Wimbledon. I'm not hiding from that.

Venus Williams has highlighted the importance of the ongoing support shown by her sister Serena Williams .
From the late 1990s to the 2010s, the Williams sisters dominated the Wta Tour and the siblings won a combined 30 Grand Slams in singles and a further 14 titles in doubles. Recently, Venus Williams has recovered from a long-term injury to compete at the Libema Open and the Birmingham Classic, while Serena retired at the US Open in September 2022 .
Throughout their careers, the Williams sisters have formed an inseparable bond that started on the courts in California from childhood to the present day and the sisters continue to support each other. Serena appeared courtside as her sister made her comeback at the Liberma Open and Venus explained to NBC how important it is to have her younger sibling by her side, even at the age of 43.

Venus Williams will play at Wimbledon this year and she'll do so in style revealing her outfit for the upcoming Grand Slam.
We haven't seen Venus Williams compete on a tennis court for a while before she made her return at the Libema Open last week. Williams didn't win that initial match but would win one week later in Birmingham .
Her run, unfortunately, ended in the second round against Jelena Ostapenko but she left a really good impression considering that she's dealing with some knee issues and called for another medical time out in that match.
This is likely the last year of her career as her former coach Rick Macci speculated in an exclusive interview with Tennis Infinity earlier this year . According to him, Williams could retire at the US Open and when she recently confirmed that her doubles career is over, fans kind of accepted that this is likely it.

Venus Williams has received support from former US Open men's champion Andy Roddick after the 43-year-old encountered criticism for her decision to continue playing.
Williams progressed past Camila Giorgi in the first round at the Birmingham Classic for her first tour win since January 2023. The seven-time Grand Slam champion eventually edged Giorgi in a gripping three-set match, where Williams also required a medical time-out after slipping on the surface .
But the 43-year-old's eventual recovery and victory showcased her physical and psychological strength to compete at the highest level, despite being in more advanced years compared to her competitors. In addition, when speaking to the Tennis Channel, Roddick backed his compatriot to play for as long as she desires and he said Williams should be respected as 'one of the greats'.
"Anyone who says oh they shouldn’t be playing anymore, just shut it. Venus has earned every right to play.

Martina Navratilova joined fellow former player Rennae Stubbs in criticizing Camila Giorgi for celebrating a point in which Venus Williams fell.
Venus Williams and Camila Giorgi battled for three hours in the Birmingham Classic round one match and it was a match that saw quite a few things happen. Most importantly Venus Williams finished the match on her feat being able to walk away from the match as she did last week in 's-Hertogenbosch.
Another important thing was her actually winning her first match since January and winning her first grass match since 2021. It was also a satisfactory finish for Williams after her opponent shockingly celebrated a point in which she fell. Williams' initial reaction was to give Giorgi a death stare .
The moment was captured by former player Rennae Stubbs who blasted Giorgi for doing that calling it the lowest point of her career. She's had a few controversies...

Venus Williams was relieved after finally winning a match on grass, her first since the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
It was a really entertaining match that went over three hours between two players that can play electrifying tennis. Venus dealt with a lot of things in this one requiring an early medical timeout due to a knee issue. A tumble a few games later saw her hit the ground hard but she kept going.
It was a true iconic moment for the 43-year-old who managed to outplay Camila Giorgi down the stretch and win the match in three sets . Her first win since January, her first grass win since the 2021 Wimbledon, and just generally a really good performance. As many pointed out, Williams still strikes the ball really well though the movement isn't what it used to be.
I thought I played really well today, and she played incredible. I'm so surprised she's not No.

Camila Giorgi has had some career lowlights but the match against Venus Williams saw another one from the Italian.
Camila Giorgi is a really good player yet there is always some controversy following her around. From some questionable on-court behaviour to her 'very involved' father whom other players famously described as scary to the Covid passports fiasco . There has been a lot of them but the Italian did something when playing a legend that enraged a lot of fans.

No matter how many times you hear it or from whatever angle you come from to tell the story of the Williams’ sisters rise to tennis fame, it’s remarkable - perhaps all the more so because their father Richard predicted it and did everything within his power to make it a reality.
His part in their story has been famously told before on screen in Reinaldo Marcus Green’s Will Smith-starrer King Richard. Stuart McClave, however, offers a much more nuanced and detailed view of the man that not only articulates familiar elements of Serena and Venus’s upbringing in LA’s Compton but also digs into their father’s background and childhood.
Something is most certainly gained from the presence of Richard himself, who has a vulnerability about him that you might not expect from a man who refused to be cowed by a largely middle-class, white establishment...

Venus Williams hasn't played many matches this year (4) but she got her second win, against Camila Giorgi no less 7-6(5) 4-6 7-6(6).
It's been a very rocky few years for Venus Williams who is likely playing her final year on the Wta Tour. She didn't confirm anything regarding that but recently admitted that she was done with doubles which makes many believe that her singles career is pretty much at an end.
Serena's former coach and a person who knows her very well thinks it's going to happen this year at the US Open and it makes sense. Her sister did the same and it looked like a very fitting end . For now, she's playing tennis and she's playing very good tennis as she confirmed at the 2023 Birmingham Clasic.
Her comeback at the Libema Open last week was watched by her sister Serena but it was a losing effort...

Venus Williams return to Indian Wells in 2016 after years of boycott following racial abuse many years ago in 2001.
The Williams sisters didn't have a smooth path in tennis and every success they did have came after a lot of hard work. Breaking down barriers, quite literally, was the main challenge they faced early on in their career and the Indian Wells Masters in 2001 is something they won't ever forget.
It was supposed to be a semi-final between them in 2001 but Venus pulled out minutes before the match due to tendonitis. Enraged fans subjected the sisters to racial abuse even during the final which Serena won over Kim Clijsters. The experience left a mark on the sisters who boycotted the event for years after it happened.
Serena was definitely my motivation to return to Indian Wells. I wouldn’t have done that without her so. I’m so glad, though. Because...

Sony Pictures International Productions and Amazon Prime Video recently joined forces with Álex de la Iglesia on the feature film series “The Fear Collection.” It kicked off with Álex de la Iglesia‘s Veneciafrenia, and next up is Venus, hailing from Jaume Balagueró ([Rec], [Rec 2], Sleep Tight).
The second film in the anthology film series is described as a supernatural horror story that’s set in an urban survival environment with elements of modern witchery.
Venus is inspired by Hp Lovecraft’s “Dreams in the Witch House” and stars Ester Expósito, Ángela Cremonte, Magüi Mira, Fernando Valdivieso and Federico Aguado.
We’ve learned today that Venus has been rated “R” for…
“Strong bloody violence, language, and some drug use.”
You can watch the international trailer below.
Meagan wrote in her TIFF review for Bd, “Venus makes for a slick and breezy action-horror movie far more memorable for its gruesome high-octane thrills than its cosmic chills.

For Creed III co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, the on-screen rivalry between their characters has a way of translating off-screen, too — in a good way.
“His drive to be the best, I have that drive to be the best,” Majors told The Hollywood Reporter about his and Jordan’s work ethic. “And contrary to popular belief, those things can run parallel. That’s how you get a movie like Creed III.”
On Monday evening, the cast and crew of Creed III gathered at the Tcl Chinese Theater to celebrate the film’s premiere, which hits theaters on Friday.
From starring in the previous Creed films to now directing the third installment, Jordan’s journey with the franchise is a personal one. “This is a character I’ve played three times over the last nine years of my life — very transformative years, the last nine years of my career and personal life,...
