- Ex-Formula One racing driver, who raced for Lotus (1994 (2 GPs)), Tyrrell (1995-1997), Arrows (1998), BAR (1999 (3 GPs)), Ferrari (1999 (6 GPs)), Sauber (2000 (16 GPs)) and Toyota (2002). Mika Salo started 110 Grands Prix, 2 Podiums and 33 Points. Best ranked in the World Championship: 10th in 1999.
Also took part in four CART races in 2003. Has now taken to sportscar racing, competing in GT and ALMS. He won the GT2 class in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans. - Likes rock music and is a good friend of Jacques Villeneuve.
- Is married to Noriko Salo (née Endo) and has two children, son Max and daughter Mai. They reside in Monaco.
- He drove for Ferrari in 1999, replacing Michael Schumacher for six races after the German broke his leg at the British Grand Prix. Salo got two podium finishes: second place in Hockenheim - where he let his team-mate Eddie Irvine through for the victory, due to team orders whilst leading the race (but was given the winner's trophy by Irvine); and in Monza he finished third in front of thousands of Ferrari fans. This was Salo's only experience of a truly competitive car in Formula One.
