Crawlspace (2012) Hot blonde Eve (Amber Clayton) wakes up in a series of tunnels in some super duper secret Government facility with no memory of how she got there, or why she has a big ol nasty scar on the side of her head. Soon, Eve is running (well, crawling, anyway) from monstrous animals and a squad of not-so-special forces soldiers sent in to wipe out Eve and her fellow inmates. Apparently this particular facility specializes in doing wacky experiments on prisoners and animals, and this is the result. We’re told the facility is a co-Australian/American production, because gosh, if there are illegal sci-fi experiments with disastrous implications to be done, you gotta figure those rascal American Government folks must be involve somehow. Directed by Justin Dix, a longtime special effects man who also co-wrote the script, “Crawlspace” is what happens when a longtime genre fan finally gets the...

Note: The film I'm about to review is not a remake of the obscure 1986 Klaus Kinski psycho thriller Crawlspace. I feel silly even having to mention this, but Hollywood has remade The House on Sorority Row, The Crazies, and The Toolbox Murders, so I don't even know what qualifies as "obscure" anymore.
If you combine the phrases "Australian," "science fiction," and "horror" into the description of a new movie, I'll be the first guy in line to see it. Attribute my affection for Aussie cinema to childhood screenings of films like Patrick, Razorback, and Mad Max 2 (aka The Road Warrior), but I've always appreciated the indie Aussies' approach to mood, tension, action, and enthusiasm for car chases, fist fights, gun battles, crazy monsters, and violence with an outback attitude. I say all this because the most recent export from Australia's genre department is more or less a disappointment. The...

Melbourne-based prosthetics and production design whiz Justin Dix has had his debut feature as a writer/director, Crawlspace, picked up by Gary Hamilton.s sales agency Arclight Films.
Arclight got in contact immediately after the credits rolled at a screening of the science fiction action thriller in Los Angeles three weeks ago, and will premiere it at Cannes under the Darlight banner.
The deal does not include North American rights, which are held by La-based Xyz Films.
Crawlspace is about a group of elite soldiers who infiltrate a top-secret underground military compound, only to discover that the facility is a testing ground for something far more sinister.
The cast includes Ditch Davey, Amber Clayton, Peta Sergeant, Nicholas Bell, John Brumpton and Leslie Simpson.
Although set under the Australian desert, it was entirely filmed at Docklands Studios Melbourne with private financing.

Yes, Harvey Keitel is starring in a Lifetime movie -- that's what we've come to. Although, in this case, we don't blame him for taking a trip to enjoy the warm weather of the Gold Coast, Australia.
Keitel will star opposite local up-and-comers Zoe Ventoura and Amber Clayton in the tragic true story of a honeymoon that ended in the death of Alabama woman Tina Watson with husband Gabe later standing trial on a first-degree murder charge, accused of tampering with his new wife's scuba equipment to pocket in excess of $200,000 insurance money. An emergency room physician, husband Gabe was allegedly spotted clutching and releasing his wife before ascending to the surface alone. Another diver then recovered the body and attempted to resuscitate her as the husband watched on from another boat. He was eventually acquitted for a lack of evidence.
No word on what roles Ventoura and Clayton will...

A man on the phone is attacked by an alligator in his pool. Horatio (David Caruso) and Ryan (Jonathan Togo) are on the scene pretty quickly. Ryan spots a blood trail and sees the alligator, which hasn't gone very far, after finding some meat used as bait. Horatio shoots the alligator dead, as is in his character, especially this season. "Horatio: "Welcome to South Florida." Natalia (Eva La Rue) believes the alligator was deliberately lured there, uh that's what the bait was for. Horatio finds someone tampered with the gate and so knew the code. Matthew, the Vic, (Patrick Heusinger) was rich and retired. The Cs and the house are processed. Delko (Adam Rodriguez) finds a torn piece of paper and Me Tom (Christian Clemenson) comments he hasn't seen anything like this and fancies himself as a bit of an alligator expert. Not to be outdone of course by Delko...

Science can be a wonderful thing that through the years has blessed us with many a wondrous thing. Hell, I still don't even understand how the Kinect works! Still, it's not always good. Nuclear weapons. Man-made viruses. Creatures who live in underground lairs waiting for hapless humans to wander in to become lunch.
According to our friends over at Moviehole (link below), Greg McLean (director, pictured right;Wolf Creek, Rogue, and the upcoming 6 Miranda Drive) will be helping to fend off monsters in the role of executive producer on a new flick called Crawlspace which is filming now in Melbourne.

One of the earliest casualties of the 2009-10 season, Three Rivers was pulled after eight episodes. There's now word that the TV show's coming back but fans shouldn't get too excited.
The CBS medical drama, which stars Alex O'Loughlin, Katherine Moennig, Daniel Henney, Justina Machado, Christopher Hanke, Amber Clayton, and Alfre Woodard, got off to a slow start in the ratings when it debuted back in October. Viewership dropped as the weeks went on and it very quickly looked like a candidate for early cancellation.
CBS pulled Three Rivers in December and expressed no plans to order any additional episodes. Then, in January, the network officially cancelled the show.
Members of the cast have moved on to other projects and O'Loughlin will be starring in the new Hawaii Five-o series next fall. Perhaps CBS wants to make sure that viewers don't...
