- Ginny Fiennes was born Virginia Frances Pepper in Godalming, Surrey, England on 9 July, 1947. She was a writer and explorer who worked alongside her husband Ranulph Fiennes. They appeared together in To the Ends of the Earth (1983). She was the first woman to receive the prestigious Polar Medal and the first woman to be voted in to join the Antarctic Club. In 2020, the Government of the British Antarctic Territory honored the contribution she made to "furthering the understanding, protection and management of Antarctica" by naming a mountain in her honor.
