In early 2024, the cast and crew of Criminal Minds: Evolution have finally begun the active phase of production, and filming has been quietly underway for months. So far, not much is known about the upcoming Season 2, except for the core cast members.
Nevertheless, Paramount never stops teasing us with new updates that, despite their lightheartedness, actually provide a lot of interesting details that fans actively start speculating about. For example, a new set video featuring the cast of Evolution was recently released, and despite its playful tone, the video was surprisingly insightful. It showed us the return of a rather controversial character who is sure to cause a lot of drama at Bau.

Paramount has rebooted Criminal Minds, and starting in November 2022, we were once again immersed in the story of the Behavioral Analysis Unit (Bau) agents as they grappled with criminal minds and personal lives. Now, the story has taken an even darker turn, it has been released in a streaming format rather than the traditional TV broadcast one, and the show itself has been subtitled as Evolution. And before we knew it, a new season was already in production (the second season of Evolution and the seventeenth since Criminal Minds premiered on CBS in 2005).
While fans wait in anticipation, the upcoming Season 17 has already had its fair share of details and speculation. Josh Stewart, who has played Will Lamontagne Jr. since Season 2, will be leaving the show, while many are sure that everyone's favorite Spencer Reid will be back, as Matthew Gray Gubler's schedule has finally been cleared, and the...

The Bau is getting an assist from a Desperate Housewives alum.
TVLine reports that Felicity Huffman has closed a deal to guest star during Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2, and her character has ties to the original series.
Huffman is playing Dr. Jill Gideon, described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist who winds up helping the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory.”
If that surname sounds familiar, it’s because she’s the wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), so she has plenty of ties to the team.
Jill isn’t too fond of getting involved with the Bau because of her past, which concludes a “complicated history” with David Rossi (Joe Mantegna).
However, her expertise is needed because the team is struggling to crack open the Gold Star mystery.

Felicity Huffman is joining “Criminal Minds: Evolution” as a brilliant doctor.
Variety reports that the “Desperate Housewives” actress is joining the Season 2 cast of Paramount+’s serialized revival of the long-running CBS crime procedural.
Huffman will guest star as Dr. Jill Gideon. Gideon is described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist.” She’s the ex-wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), the former leader of the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. She has a complicated history with her late ex-husband and his Bau successor David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), which makes her reluctant to get involved with the team’s investigation into the murderous and mysterious Gold Star conspiracy. But her skills could be the key to cracking the case, so she agrees to help.
Season 2 of “Criminal Minds: Evolution” is currently in production. The cast includes A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, Ryan-James Hatanaka, Adam Rodriguez, and Paget Brewster.

Felicity Huffman is taking on her first major TV role since 2019’s college admissions scandal broke as the former Desperate Housewives actress will be guest starring on Paramount+‘s Criminal Minds: Evolution. Felicity Huffman will play a ghost from the past in season two of Criminal Minds: Evolution on Paramount+.
The Desperate Housewives alum will guest star as Dr. Jill Gideon, a brilliant biological psychiatrist who also happens to be the ex-wife of Mandy Patinkin’s Jason Gideon from the early years of Criminal Minds.
Though she agrees to help the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory, Jill is reluctant to return to the bureau’s elite team given her complicated history. She soon realizes, however, that her specific skill set could help them uncover another clue to the elusive Gold Star mystery.
Viewers never met Gideon’s wife in the years that Patinkin played him on Criminal Minds. Patinkin left the CBS show after 47 episodes; his character was killed offscreen by an UnSub.

For a guy who writes about awful stuff happening to people, Stephen King sure likes liking things. Just think about how many times he’s used his position to praise other creatives and projects. “I have seen the future of horror and his name is Clive Barker,” declared his blurb for the American release of Books of Blood. “Tight, terrific, and very, very scary. Reminded me a bit of Duel,” he said of The Fall on Twitter in 2022. “Wish I’d written it.” Heck, his horror history book Danse Macabre ends with an appendix recommending over 100 books and nearly 100 movies.
But when the 76-year-old writer praises the upcoming film adaptation of his seminal novel Salem’s Lot , King’s word carries a bit more weight. You can almost invariably find your favorite actor’s best performances in their TV gigs, lead or not. There’s something about either maintaining a personality or convincingly growing through a transformation that needs a unique commitment. And that’s something a lot of big names in movies are often intimidated by. The abundance of critically acclaimed shows in 2023 has made it even more of a challenge to limit my favorites on this list of the best. So I’d leave it up to you to imagine the kind of impact the following performances must have had.
Phil Dunster In ‘Ted Lasso’
Even if the saccharine-sweet vibe of Apple TV’s Ted Lasso is not something you dig, you have to admit that Phil Dunster’s performance in the latest season was nothing short of extraordinary. With his character Jamie Tartt having the best character arc in the entire show,...

Despite scoring a speedy renewal, the long-running drama that morphed into a streaming series a year ago hasn't yet entered production.
Earlier this year, there was word that filming would begin imminently, so fresh episodes were on the air for fans quickly.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen.
The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes brought Hollywood to a standstill, meaning no new episodes could be produced.

Warning: The following contains major spoilers for The Fall of the House of Usher and the works of Edgar Allen Poe.
In recent years, Mike Flanagan has become known for emotional adaptations of classic horror literature. After a series of original films, Flanagan brought Stephen King’s famously unfilmable novel Gerald’s Game to life then set his sights on the work of Shirley Jackson. His Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House dramatically expanded the legendary story and brought us all to tears with an intimate examination of parenting through the years. Flanagan followed this with The Haunting of Bly Manor, a mind-bending take on The Turn of the Screw, and The Midnight Club, a spooky mashup of Christopher Pike’s YA bibliography.

Never say never. While Matthew Gray Gubler did not reprise his role as fan-favorite character Spencer Reid in the 2022 series Criminal Minds: Evolution, he’s not ruling out revisiting the role in the future, he recently said.

While Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), Rossi (Joe Mantegna), and other characters were all there to track down serial killer Elias Voit (Zach Gilford), Reid was noticeably absent from the team. The show explained his absence by saying he was on a special assignment. That left the door open for Gubler to appear in future episodes. And it sounds like he’s game to do so.

Mike Flanagan’s creative partnership with Netflix has produced several memorable pieces of art over the last several years. His latest project for the streaming service, the gothic horror series “The Fall of the House of Usher,” is yet another that will have viewers talking.
The eight-episode drama skillfully blends the work and imagery of Edgar Allen Poe with a timely narrative about the Usher family, a privileged group who own a pharmaceutical company that is largely responsible for the current opioid crisis. Bruce Greenwood leads the cast as Roderick Usher, the patriarch who must confront his past in the wake of the violent deaths of all of his children. Joining Greenwood are several actors who’ve starred in Flanagan’s previous Netflix series, including Carla Gugino, Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas and Zach Gilford, and new additions like Mary McDonnell and Mark Hamill, who turn in fantastic performances in the gripping tale.

Anyone who’s read Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher” knew the Netflix series was going to end with horror, vengeance and a dilapidating house symbolizing the ruin of a once-great family. But leave it to show creators Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy to turn a literary classic on its head.
While paying homage to the short story it’s named after, “The Fall of the House of Usher” managed to wrap up its complicated story of familial greed and failure while also sneaking in a couple of extra Poe Easter eggs. Consider this your guide on how this creepy miniseries ends.
How does “The Fall of the House of Usher” end?
In Episode 8 “The Raven,” Roderick (Bruce Greenwood) finally explains to Assistant U.S. Attorney C. Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumbly) exactly why he’s responsible for the deaths of his children.

This post contains spoilers for "The Fall of the House of Usher."
Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher" may only be a few thousand words long, but in Mike Flanagan's sprawling and savage new Netflix series, it takes a whole lot longer for the members of House Usher to reach their ultimate fate. Across the series' eight episodes, members of the wealthy pharmaceutical family die disturbing and complex deaths at the hands of a curse patriarch Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) and his sister Madeline (Mary McDonnell) agreed to years ago. In a clever twist, though, each death ties back to a famous (or lesser-known) story or poem from the famously bleak author, all of them reimagined for a modern audience.

The Fall of the House of Usher is filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s gloriously morbid remix of author Edgar Allen Poe’s best-known stories and poems, and it’s winning raves from critics (with a 92 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes). Even those totally unfamiliar with Poe probably found some glimmer of recognition amid the show’s nods to his best-known tales — such as “The Pit and the Pendulum,” “The Raven” and “The Cask of Amontillado” — given how Poe’s stories have threaded through pop culture over the last 175 years or so.
But even Poe superfans probably couldn’t spot all the references — because there are dozens scattered throughout the show’s eight Gothic episodes.
So here they are (The Hollywood Reporter compiled this based on notes supplied by the show’s production team — I’m not going to pretend to be this smart; also, there’s always a chance that a...

Oh to be young, hot, rich, and have a wealthy daddy. That's the dream, right?
But what if that dream comes at the cost of millions of lives destroyed? And by destroyed, we mean they expired?
The Fall of the House of Usher Season 1 Episode 2 dove deeper into the workings of the Usher family's business, which was pharmaceuticals.
In the series premiere, we learned about the effects those drugs had on people, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Following the revelation in court, the children were apprehensive, and everyone was on edge because the mole could be anyone, which was scary.
We met Dupin in the series premiere as an older man working as a detective to bring the Usher family to justice for their crimes. Still, that scene didn't last long between introducing the storyline and setting up the characters.
Was it ever going to be enough?...

This article contains spoilers for The Fall of the House of Usher.
To say there’s a lot going on in The Fall of the House of Usher is to put it lightly. This Netflix title is…
– The latest (and likely final) spooky Netflix series from horror maestro Mike Flanagan before he moves on to his new overall deal at Amazon.
– A deeply angry allegory about the human wreckage wrought from the opioid crisis.
– An adaption of Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Fall of the House of Usher.”
– An Easter egg and reference bonanza of the rest of the Gothic literature titan’s classic works.
While all of those elements are of equal importance, it’s the Poe aspects that really shine through. Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher may just be the most effusive love letter to America’s spooky uncle that has ever been penned.

On a dark night, pharma tycoon Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood) invites an old acquaintance to meet him in his childhood home. Auguste Dupin (Carl Lumbly), an attorney with the U.S. government, is surprised by the overture: He’s arguing a landmark lawsuit against Roderick’s company for its driving role in the opioid epidemic, and he’s never gotten the elusive magnate on the record. So, he approaches the boarded-up house at the end of a cul-de-sac, its rotting frame illuminated only by the pale glow of distant lightning. Inside, Roderick shocks Auguste by confessing his guilt—not only accepting the accusations against his company, but claiming responsibility for the recent, mystifying deaths of his six children.

If you’re a person with simmering rage directed at the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma for their alleged contributions to the opioid epidemic, chronicles like Hulu’s Dopesick and Netflix’s Painkiller face a major stumbling block when it comes to delivering resolution: When one side of the ledger has hundreds of thousands of deaths and the other has a few settlements and some bankruptcy filings, reality can be a real bummer. No such restrictions confine Mike Flanagan in his latest spooky-season Netflix limited series.
Half creative writing project tied to a freshman seminar on Edgar Allan Poe, half horror-filled karmic catharsis, Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher is a bluntly entertaining exercise. What if Edgar Allan Poe had penned "Succession"? The result might be "The Fall of the House of Usher," the latest streaming terror from Mike Flanagan ("Midnight Mass"). Flanagan, once again working with his usual stable of players, takes a "shut up and play the hits" approach to Poe here, dipping into the legendary author's work to reference nearly everything you can think of -- "The Raven," "The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Masque of the Red Death," "Murders in the Rue Morgue," and on and on. Even Poe's famous detective character C. Auguste Dupin has a part to play, only now he's been upgraded from a sleuth to a crusading district attorney, played with calm gravitas by Carl Lumbly.
