What came first the chicken or the egg? Yea about that. All we get is in return is more rabbit holes, but how about we decipher this in film terms. It’s another showdown, and with that comes deciding on if the imitator does it better than the originator. Even though prior rip-off segments discussed very similar components between the two, this upcoming showdown is just a down-right spitting image of one another. One of those films is based off a global best-selling video game and has created a massive following. It also just shattered Halloween weekend box-office numbers while simultaneously streaming on Peacock. The next is an indie-styled film that brings...

G.O. Parsons, the writer behind the Nicolas Cage-led horror comedy Willy’s Wonderland, is up to his old tricks. Parsons wants to give automated animals another go with the Beast of Bower Boulevard, a three-part digital comic debuting this week. Initially funded on Kickstarter, Beast of Bower Boulevard unfolds in a secluded ski town, where a sheriff’s deputy and his family investigate after things go quiet. Once they reach their destination, they discover the urban area is under attack by a robot dinosaur built by the military!
Beast of Bower Boulevard gives off ’70s and ’80s vibes with a splash of absurdity. Initially written as a screenplay, Parsons converted the script after working with publisher American Mythology on the Willy’s Wonderland comics. While Parsons is thrilled about the Beast of Bower Boulevard stomping onto the comic book page, he’s not ruling out a live-action adaptation if a studio shows interest.

After nearly a decade of talking about it, the "Five Nights at Freddy's" movie is finally coming our way later this year, thanks to the folks at Blumhouse. The company behind hits like "The Black Phone" and "The Purge" is bringing the beloved series of video games to life, meaning some animatronic murder bears will be gracing the silver screen this Halloween season. But a small movie from a couple of years ago may have beat Blumhouse to the punch, and Nicolas Cage was the man doing the punching.
In early 2021, as the pandemic was still raging on, Screen Media Films released "Willy's Wonderland," which features Cage as an unnamed janitor with no dialogue in a film that, as it happens, seems to resemble "Five Nights at Freddy's" an awful lot. Directed by Kevin Lewis, the film focuses on a quiet loner who agrees to clean an abandoned family fun...

When a quiet drifter is tricked into becoming a janitor for the condemned titular Willy’s Wonderland, everything seems to be going to plan and the closed down building should claim yet another victim. When the animatronic entertainers wake up looking for blood though, little do they know that the janitor has other plans for their Wonderland of terror.
The story of a drifter getting trapped in a small town and forced to work for the locals is not a new one at all, so movie fans may even sigh at the start of the movie. The difference of course is that this driver is Nicholas Cage, a man credited in the movie as simply “The Janitor”. From the moment the doors are locked, and he starts his work, is...

G.O. Parsons tried for years to catch his Hollywood break, but nothing was working.
“I would edit myself into TV shows. I would be a delivery guy and try to drop off my headshots. I would have showcases for myself and I would pay people to come,” says Parsons. “It wasn’t going anywhere.”
Parsons moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to attend UCLA and chase his dreams of being an actor and a filmmaker. He found fulfillment putting on plays, but after years without tangible Hollywood success, he decided to write a script that ...

As the specialty box office space continues to navigate the digital VOD and day and date waters, numbers are trickling in but, again, they don’t necessarily give a solid reflection of a film’s box office performance as they did in the before-times (aka pre-Covid). On this President’s Day holiday weekend, award season faves like A24’s Minari dropped in approximately 61 markets before heading to PVOD on February 26 while Sony Pictures’ French Exit had a very limited theatrical run. Both films did not reveal solid box office numbers, but the news that they are physically in theaters is a feat in itself.
However, STXfilms’ own awards season pic The Mauritanian directed by Kevin Macdonald opened in 245 theaters and earned an estimated $144K for its 3-day weekend and is projected to bank $170K for the holiday weekend. The film is based on the book “Guantanamo Diary” by Mohamedou Ould Slahi and stars Jodie Foster,...

Kevin Lewis is the director of “Willys Wonderland” starring Nicolas Cage as The Janitor, which is available today on VOD.
Who is The Janitor? Is he a quiet drifter who stumbles upon a band of murderous, satanic-possessed animatronics? Yes. Is he Nicolas Cage, who is not only one of the most amazing actors, but a wonderful partner to make a movie with? Absolutely yes. Is he G.O. Parsons, who wrote a wholly original script? 100 percent yes. Is he Jeremy Daniel Davis, who worked tirelessly every day for years to see “Willy’s Wonderland” finally get to the finish line? A resounding yes.
Is he the producers who pushed relentlessly hard to see this movie get made? No doubt yes. Is he Emoi, who not only gave Willy a voice that wasn’t written on the page, but also composed a pulse-pounding soundtrack that is the heart and soul of “Willy’s Wonderland?...

Directed by Kevin Lewis, from a script by G.O. Parsons, this defiantly out-of-the-box and in some ways rather cunning grunge horror film, set from dusk till dawn inside a run-down family fun center, is a tongue-in-cheek thriller that knows how preposterous it is.
The monsters, you see, are the kiddie palace’s resident menagerie of towering animatronic mascots. They’re possessed by evil spirits, and they’ll tear your head off. But even as that sounds like the stuff of overripe horror parody, “Willy’s Wonderland,” taking its cue from films like “Leprechaun,” “Two Thousand Maniacs,” and Tobe Hooper’s “The Funhouse”, treats its homicidal-furry-mascot premise as if it were a pre-ironic ’80s hack-’em-up. The movie is a canny ghoulie potboiler that whisks you along. And that, in no small part, is because of the other arresting creature at its center.
I’m talking about Nicolas Cage. I hadn’t seen a scuzzy,...

Director Kevin Lewis and writer G.O. Parsons have discovered time-travel without physical displacement. And the best part about their shortcut is you don’t need a modified DeLorean or an ‘80s phone booth to break the space-time continuum. Instead, all you have to do is watch the new horror-comedy, “Willy’s Wonderland.” Suddenly, you’re transported back to the days of being a young teen, sitting in your room thinking up the craziest ideas for movies while destroying bags of Cheetos and mainlining Super Gulps.

In my humble opinion Willy’s Wonderland is easily the best movie of Nic Cage’s career! I thought it was impossible for Nicolas Cage to get back to the winning ways of the mid 90s… Remember that 5 year run when he dropped The Rock, Con Air, Face Off, Kiss of Death, Snake Eyes and a couple more? Seriously between 1995 and 2000 Cage made about 9 absolute bangers and won an Oscar. Since then he has been stuck in a somewhat middling ground with a 50/50 ratio of good to bad movies.
Then somewhere around 2016-17 Cage seemingly decided it is time to just embrace the nonsense. Mom and Dad came out and banged, Mandy, Colour Out of Space, Primal, Jiu Jitsu and now Willy’s Wonderland. I’m not saying he has stopped making misfires but,...

Nicolas Cage is set to star in a new horror film called Wally’s Wonderland, and this is going to be another great project for the actor that has been making some pretty crazy films lately.
Cage will take on the role of a janitor who is “forced to spend the night in a twisted amusement park where he is pulled into a living nightmare. As the threatening animatronic characters come to life, the janitor has to fight his way from one monster to another to survive until morning and get out of the park.”
That sounds like fun! I actually can’t wait to see Cage find himself battling a horde of animatronic characters! There’s no doubt that he’s going to have fun making this movie and that it’s going to entertaining audiences.
The film is being directed by Kevin Lewis (The Drop) from a script written by G.O. Parsons.
Cage will take on the role of a janitor who is “forced to spend the night in a twisted amusement park where he is pulled into a living nightmare. As the threatening animatronic characters come to life, the janitor has to fight his way from one monster to another to survive until morning and get out of the park.”

Cage will play an amusement park janitor who has a very bad night in Wally's Wonderland
Barely a week goes by here at Den of Geek where we don't hear about a new Nicolas Cage movie in the works. In recent months, we've had to emotionally process Pig, a movie where Cage's prize truffle-hunting pig is stolen and he sets out on a journey to recover her. There's Primal, set for release very soon, and in which Cage stars as a big game hunter trapped on a boat with a cargo full of wild animals released by an assassin. And now, there's Wally's Wonderland, a new project that will see Cage trapped once again, but this time in an amusement park where all the animatronic characters have come to life and have turned evil for reasons.
