The seemingly never-ending onslaught of Jeopardy! tournaments can be a drag, until a thrilling game comes along that reminds you why having these seasoned players return is a good thing. Fans were thrilled by the “intense” competition on display in the Tuesday, January 30 Jeopardy episode, which saw champs Juveria Zaheer, Robbi Ramirez, and Alec Chao square up for a semi-final installment of the Champions Wildcard Tournament. The competition was fierce between these three, although the excitement didn’t truly pick up until Double Jeopardy. By the end of the first round, the scores were Juveria with 7,400, Alec with 1,200, and Robbi with 1,600. All of their scores shot up in round two, which ended with Juveria at 18,200, Alec at 10,000, and Robbi at 22,600. [Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the Tuesday, January 23 episode of Jeopardy!] Jeopardy!’s Season 39 Champions Wildcard competition continues with the sixth quarterfinalist match featuring Second Chance winner Xanni Brown, a postdoctoral researcher originally from Cincinnati, Ohio; Lynn Di Vito, a retired museum educator from Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Robbi Ramirez, a writer from Orlando, Florida. Although one contestant stood out from the rest, another instantly rose from last place to number one contender after clearing a particular category. As expected, Second Chance winner Xanni began with a strong performance, quickly taking the lead, especially after scoring $3,400 on the first Daily Double. After the first break, Xanni had a total of $7,800 and, before entering Double Jeopardy, elevated that score to $11,400 with a perfect first round, followed by Lynn with $4,00 and Robbi with $3,800.
