Marius Vasilescu(II)
- Additional Crew
"Dr. V" as he introduces himself to pet families, is RAPS lead veterinarian and the "go-to" surgeon for more complex procedures. Marius grew up in a small Romanian village where both his parents are veterinarians. Following his dad on medical calls, it became clear early on that he wanted to follow the same path. Eager for knowledge and exposure to complex cases, he spent all the summers during the college years in human hospitals with internships in Orthopedics, Pediatric surgery, Urology and Microsurgery. After receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in his home country - Romania, he advanced his education by obtaining a Masters in Small Animal Clinical Sciences and Pharmacology and a Ph.D. in Microsurgery. The appeal of advanced veterinary knowledge brought him in North America where he continued where he spent the following years doing a Surgical Internship at Canada West Veterinary Specialists and working in emergency, specialty centers, and general practice facilities. Since 2020, Dr V. has been the Senior Medical Director of the Regional Animal Protection Society in Richmond, BC and plays an active part in the continuing education of the rapidly expanding team and being the Medical Consultant for Pets & Pickers. While not working to improve the health of pets and mentoring the young RAPS vets-in-training with valuable hands-on experience or travelling with his family, Dr. V enjoys dancing Tango, learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and playing squash. He has a wry sense of humor and jokes that he's developing the first weight loss diet based on a combo of dark chocolate and cream puffs.
