Dave Grohl paid tribute to his one-time Nirvana bandmate Paul McCartney (technically, it’s true!) with a rendition of “Live and Let Die” at the Love Rocks NYC benefit concert Thursday night, March 7.
The Foo Fighters frontman gave a characteristically full-throated performance of McCartney’s hit 1973 James Bond theme song. Though he strained a bit to hit some of the high notes during the ballad-y sections and left the “You know you did” refrain to the backing vocalists, he attacked the hard rock portions the way only Dave Grohl can.

It’s 2003 and Jay-Z is planning a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his retirement from music.
But his bass player is unavailable. Adam Blackstone, a jack-of-all-trades who plays bass, drums, piano, organ, tuba and sousaphone — and is also a songwriter, producer, composer and everything else under the musical sun — is more than ready to step in.
Twenty years later, Blackstone, now 40, is still working closely with Jay-Z; both are Emmy winners for last year’s hip-hop-heavy Super Bowl halftime show. And the musician who has helped everyone from Rihanna to Justin Timberlake shine is stepping into his own limelight.

After winning an Emmy in 2022 for music direction, Blackstone is nominated again. This time, however, he’s a double nominee. Not only is he competing for his work on Rihanna’s explosive Super Bowl performance (a nom...

A star-studded gathering of musicians honored the late guitar legend Jeff Beck with two tribute shows on Monday (May 22nd) and Tuesday (May 23rd) at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Eric Clapton, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Rod Stewart, Johnny Depp, Zz Top’s Billy Gibbons, and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry were among the major names who took the stage to perform material and covers that Beck himself played during his lifetime.
Highlights included a rousing cover of Beck and Depp’s take on “Isolation” by John Lennon — performed by Hammett, Gibbons, and Depp (who released the song as a collaborative single with Beck in 2022); Stewart tearing through a four-song medley with Clapton; and Gibbons and Depp taking on Zz Top’s “Rough Boy,” a song Beck and Gibbons used to play together.

Catherine, the Princess of Wales, made a surprise appearance during the opening of the Eurovision Song Contest’s grand final on Saturday evening alongside Andrew Lloyd-Webber, rapper Ms Banks and last year’s Eurovision winners Kalush Orchestra, who hail from Ukraine.

In this nation of 333 islands — where Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky recently spent the holidays — one can’t go anywhere without hearing “Bula!” which means life and is a heartfelt, enthusiastic greeting that makes “hi” seem almost rude.
In May, Jaclyn Sienna India, CEO of ultra-luxury travel concierge Sienna Charles, scouted Fiji for a major actor client and found Navotua, a village where she (and later the actor and her family) stayed and experienced kava ceremonies, traditional welcoming rituals that show respect and reverence for guests. The client “wanted to really understand the culture,” says Sienna India. “They lived with these local tribes for four days in huts on the beach, wearing grass skirts and walking around barefoot.”
The warm hospitality, Sienna India says, was “unreal.” They’d take boats to islands where hardly a soul has stepped and staff caught fish and cooked it for them on the beach.

He might not have had the same kind of commercial success as his peers, but classic rock lost a legend when Jeff Beck died at age 78. His music will live on, and so will the awards he won when he was alive. He might add another piece of hardware, too. Beck could win at the 2023 Grammy Awards for a guest spot on Ozzy Osbourne’s 2022 album Patient Number 9 in a category that nearly eluded him his entire career.

The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.
Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
One way to help narrow things down is checking out who’s been on the series before – as it seems unlikely they’d return to the show (although not impossible).
So here’s a full list of who appeared on seasons one, two, three and four…
Season one
Winner: Nicola Roberts – Queen Bee
Jason Manford – Hedgehog
Katherine Jenkins – Octopus
CeeLo Green – Monster

Denise van Outen – Fox
Jake Shears – Unicorn

Thom Bell, who helped to create the soul songs style that became known in the 1960s and 1970s as “The Sound of Philadelphia,” died Thursday in Bellingham, Washington. He was 79 and no cause of death was given.
His lawyer, Michael Silver, confirmed the death.
Bell, along with fellow producers and songwriters Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, were the forces behind the lush orchestrations that characterized The Sound of Philadelphia. Bell, Gamble, and Huff were known as “The Mighty Three,” working out of a Broad Street building and creating a song factory that dominated the era’s charts and Top 40.
Dyanna Williams, a music journalist and broadcast personality, announced Bell’s death on her social media accounts Thursday afternoon.

Lea Michele had the opportunity to live out a dream on Thursday when she opened the 96th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade singing, fittingly, her rafter-raising rendition of “Don’t Rain on My Parade.”
The “Glee” star, who is currently starring on Broadway as Fanny Brice in “Funny Girl” and shown above rehearsing for her parade performance, kicked off the festivities with the musical theater classic first made famous by Barbra Streisand (and originated in this Broadway revival by Beanie Feldstein).
Despite Michele’s demands to not rain on her parade, some on social media still tried to do just that.
“No way the thanksgiving day parade began with lea michele jumpscare,” one user tweeted with a crying emoji.
Another questioned why the Thanksgiving Day Parade didn’t give a “trigger warning” when Michele began singing, while another shared a meme of Mateo of NBC comedy “Super Store” signing a cross over his chest,...

Maroon 5 is one of the biggest bands of the 21st century. Led by vocalist Adam Levine, the band has produced a number of smash hits throughout their career, but among all of their achievements, one of the band’s most important was their Grammy for Best New Artist. The award itself is a big deal, but the band’s road to it — as well as who they, perhaps infamously, beat — make the win even more impressive. Let’s take a look back in our latest Grammys flashback.
Maroon 5 started out as Kara’s Flowers, a band that didn’t really make much of an impact, to put it nicely. After disbanding for a while, they came back as Maroon 5, and in 2002 released the now-iconic album “Songs About Jane.” The album gradually became one of the biggest of the new millennium, achieving four top-40 hits from 2002 to 2004, the year when the...

If these current predictions hold, that means Grace will receive the coveted confetti shower when the Season 19 finale airs May 23.

If Gold Derby’s predictions for “American Idol” Season 19 come true, Willie Spence is about to make history as the first Black male winner since Ruben Studdard. The “velvet teddy bear” won Season 2 of the reality TV singing sensation in 2003 over Clay Aiken and is still considered one of the best champions even two decades later. However, a Black man has never made it to the finale ever since, either as the winner or the runner-up. Can Willie break that curse?

Just last week, “American Idol” viewers declared that Grace Kinstler was the contestant most likely to win Season 19. Well, things have changed. Now it’s Willie Spence who has the best odds to claim victory, according to Gold Derby predictions. Willie rose to fame years before “Idol” when he went viral with his impromptu cover of Rihanna‘s “Diamonds.” He smartly chose to perform that song for his “Idol” audition and all three judges — Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan — were stopped in their tracks.

Monday’s “Tonight Show” averaged the smallest TV audience ever for an original episode of the show, according to early ratings. Jimmy Fallon drew just 947,000 total viewers last night.
Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” on CBS won the evening with 2.03 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s Live + Same Day fast-national numbers. ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” came in second place among the late-night television programs with 1.67 million total viewers.
Numbers for each of those shows are subject to adjustment when final figures are tallied. Those are expected to be available Wednesday.
While this specific historical Nielsen data only dates back to 1986, it is safe to say that Johnny Carson always attracted more than a million viewers in a very different era. (Carson hosted “The Tonight Show” from 1962 to 1992. Jay Leno took over in ’92.)
The previous low for an original “Tonight Show” episode came on Sept. 25, 2020, when Fallon pulled in 992,000 total...
