Every woman in Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s beast of a film gets abused. Ranbir’s character Ranvijay’s mother gets shouted at and perhaps physically hit.
Ranvijay’s wife Geetanjali gets pushed around, and so does Zoya (Tipti Dimri) who comes into Ranvijay’s life late in the protracted storytelling. Ranvijay orders a Mercedes the colour of her hickey. He is prone to be eccentric. At one point he discusses public hairs with an arms dealer named Freddy (Upendra Limaye) who like anything but ‘Freddy’.
Then there Ranvijay’s sister who is regularly assaulted by her husband. My apologies if I’ve left out any of the ladies. Director Sandeep Vanga spares nobody, man or woman. His characters are bloodthirsty billionaires. We are told the Singhs are the richest family in India (the Ambanis won’t like this). Yet, the patriarch Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor) gets murderous attacks every two reels…...

Kapoor plays the scion of a wealthy family whose violence is the result of a craving for love and validation, in a regressive Bollywood blockbuster
Already topping the box office in India, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s bombastic action film is high on shock tactics and low on substance. His first two features, the Telugu-language Arjun Reddy (2017) and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh (2019) were both megahits – and also attracted criticism for making heroes out of misogynistic, violent men. Far from stepping back from this, Animal sinks even further into regressive depths, resulting in one of the vilest protagonists to have graced the big screen.
Vijay, played by Hindi cinema royalty Ranbir Kapoor, is the only son of a wealthy family. He grows up in the shadow of his father Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor), whose attention is wrapped up in his steel company. Zigzagging between different timelines spanning Vijay’s childhood to his autumnal years,...

A movie directed by the berserk “Muppet Show” character known as Animal couldn’t be any more unruly than Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s new film of that title. This sporadically fun but exhausting hot mess provides 202 minutes of hyperventilating overkill for star Ranbir Kapoor as a tycoon’s favorite son whose anger-management (as well as daddy) issues are off the charts. Contrastingly notable for their absence are emotional depth, narrative cogency or non-scatological humor — lacks that much ultra-violence and a surprising amount of sexual content can only distract from so much over such a long, bombastic, shallow course.
Nonetheless, the over-the-top intensity pushed for nearly three and a half hours is likely to impress many viewers. That’s being counted on as “Animal” opens this weekend on the largest number of U.S. screens for any Indian feature to date.

With a runtime of 3 hours and 23 minutes, Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’ is one of the very few films so lenghty. Animal is Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s only third film after Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh. It presents a clear filmmaking style of Sandeep Reddy with intensity, aggression, passion & brutal action being the mainstay. This film proves that an actor is as good as the director wants him to be and a film is as good as the directors vision on the narrative. ‘Animal’ will become a benchmark for Ranbir and the storytellers will change their perspective about how to utilise this talent. A lover boy is now a ‘man’.

Animal Movie Review Rating:

What’s Good: Ranbir Kapoor putting everything in, but for what? The interval block could be a separate short film, and I would surely hoot for that one
What’s Bad: Everything you thought was bad in Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh it’s worse here
Loo Break: There should be a competition among friends of who can sit through this almost three-and-a-half-hour film without taking a loo break, and that would have an interesting outcome than this film
Watch or Not?: Only and only if you can leave the cinema hall after the first half

Animal Movie Review Quicker: Sandeep Reddy Vanga Delivers Kabir Singh On Steroids With Ranbir Kapoor & No… (Picture Credit: T-Series/Youtube)
It’s finally Animal Day today, and the film is going down in history, as many would mention while discussing “how to market a film like a pro.” The whole ‘Alpha Male’ vibe is the mightiest weapon this film holds, and that would only help build the initial buzz, but what matters after the first Monday is the content. Has Sandeep Reddy Vanga retained the entertainment factor he established during his Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh phase? Let’s analyze!
Please note I’m writing this after the first half of the film, and there’s still 50% of it I’ll watch to come to the full review. But here are some random thoughts about where I think this is going from here.
For starters, we’ve Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor...

New Delhi, July 24 (Ians) The showrunner of crime-investigative drama ‘Kohrra’, Sudip Sharma has shared his vision on the casting of English actress Rachel Shelley, saying they needed an actor with an experience in Indian shooting conditions, and she delivered a great job.
Rachel was seen as Elizabeth Russell in the Oscar-nominated Bollywood epic 2001 release ‘Lagaan’, starring Aamir Khan in the lead. In ‘Kohrra’ she is seen as Clara Murphy, a character based in the UK.
Sudip called Rachel a fantastic actor, saying she delivered a great job.
“We are all aware of her work. I had seen some of her work outside India as well, but it was also a bit of a practical decision, because I wanted an actor who is used to the madness that shooting can be in India, and it could have been difficult,” Sudip told Ians.
