This article contains spoilers for Smallville.
There’s no doubt that Lois (Erica Durance) and Clark (Tom Welling) were the right endgame for Smallville. And not just because Lois and Clark almost always inevitably end up together. Their years of loathing turning to respect and then love makes for some great TV, and Durance and Welling’s chemistry is incredible. However, even though Smallville mostly hit the mark with Clark’s love-life by the end of the series, his first love, Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk), deserved so much better than the arc she was given.
By the time Clark and Lana get together in the series, Lana already knows that something is up with Clark. He’s somehow always there to save her when she’s in danger or just generally involved with all of the weird stuff going on in town. His farm boy charms also aren’t really...

Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor in Smallville, is opening up about the idea he has for a sequel series in an animated form.
In a new interview, Rosenbaum revealed he and Tom Welling were developing an animated series with the original cast and creators of the show that originated in 2001 on the now-defunct WB network.
“All I could share is that it’s a great idea. We have Al [Gough] and Miles [Millar], the creators of Smallville, backing us up,” Rosenbaum said in an interview with Screen Rant. “When it’s the right time, we’d like to go and do this: pitch to Warner Bros. It has to be the right time, and right now is not the right time.”
He continued, “We had the strike, we had a change of executives at DC — one being one of my best friends in the world, James Gunn. When the time’s right,...

You know what's really got me excited for "Superman: Legacy"? Aside from director James Gunn previously delivering the best movies that Marvel Studios has had to offer, Rachel Brosnahan is playing Lois Lane. Just as her soon-to-be co-star David Corenswet looks like Superman in the flesh, Brosnahan looks so much like how Lois is drawn: a gaze that sees through you and yet attracts your own, round and slender face with a strong chin, and brunette.
It's not all looks though, Brosnahan has got the talent and attitude to back it up. Check out her leading performance in the 2020 thriller "I'm Your Woman" as Jean, a housewife caught up in a crime. Jean is more naive than Lois, but they share a proper spine and a good heart. Brosnahan is best known, though, for awards darling series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" — playing a snappy, mid-century New Yorker like Midge Maisel...

Now you Know Christmas has arrived!
Both of the Hallmark networks have fired up the holiday. Countdown to Christmas began in earnest on Hallmark Channel last week, and Ms. Christmas Comes to Town gets the party started at Hmm.
One thing both networks have in common other than movies and Christmas is a steady stream of prolific actress Barbara Niven.
Niven has played mom to so many characters across the Hallmark universe. While they usually have their own story arcs (most notably in Chesapeake Shores), Ms. Christmas Comes to Town allows her to step away from her role as mom.
Well, sort of.
Niven plays Gale, an Hsc shopping channel hostess who has brought the magic of Christmas to customers for over 24 years. That's a lifetime, and the relationships she has formed have brought her and the channel much success.

It looks like Christmas magic is working in Amanda’s (Erica Durance) favor, even if she might not realize it yet, this year in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries‘ Ms. Christmas Comes to Town. In TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek ahead of the October 26 premiere (kicking off the Miracles of Christmas event), Amanda is ready to give her blind date a try… but there’s something she doesn’t know about the man sitting across from her. Amanda approaches Travis (Brennan Elliott) and immediately introduces herself in the clip. “Normally, I don’t go for setups, but Emily spoke so highly of you, and she’s managed to stay married to the same man for over a decade and is mother to a daughter I absolutely adore, so I figure maybe she knows something the rest of us don’t,” she explains. She then gets right down to business, listing things...

This year's crop of films features a number of new faces and fresh plots to immerse you in the scent of pine trees and the sound of Christmas carols, as well as some relatively familiar faces, such as John Travolta's sister Ellen, who stars in "Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up."

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan is on the shortlist to play Lois Lane in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.
According to sources, Brosnahan delivered an “outstanding” audition for the spunky Daily Planet reporter but may be in the older range for what Gunn is hoping to achieve with his vision for the Man of Steel — one that focuses on Metropolis heroics with 20-something characters.
Nonetheless, the Emmy-winning actress would love the opportunity to play the iconic comic book character that has been portrayed by actresses like Amy Adams, Erica Durance, Kate Bosworth, Elizabeth Tulloch and Margot Kidder, among others.
“I mean, look, take everything you read on the internet with a grain of salt is my first piece of advice,” Brosnahan joked on The View when asked about the story THR broke that says she is on a shortlist for the character. “Look,...

The Superman origin story "Smallville" aired for ten seasons, first on The WB and later on The CW. The show was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also came up with the wildly popular Netflix series "Wednesday." "Smallville" ran from 2001 through 2011 for over 200 episodes (though Gough and Millar left after season 7), chronicling Kal-El/Clark Kent's high school years and romance with Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) and friendship-turned-antagonistic relationship with Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum), his work at the Daily Planet with Lois Lane (Erica Durance), and finally, his transformation into Superman. Until the very last moment, we never saw Clark in his cape, but the show made a whole new generation fall in love with the character, the Superman mythology, and DC comics.
It's hard to believe it's been over two decades since "Smallville" began airing. Gough and Millar spoke to The Hollywood Reporter in December 2022 about their new...

Comics have some incredibly iconic couples: Spider-Man and Mary Jane, Nightwing and Batgirl, Reed Richards and Sue Storm, Superman and Lana Lang ... wait a minute, that last one isn't right. Even those only tangentially familiar with Superman know that Lois Lane is his one and only. That wasn't, however, the case for Clark Kent, who fell for Lana long before meeting his future wife. So, when creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar went about telling the story of Clark's (Tom Welling) younger days in "Smallville," it was Lana and not Lois who initially stole his heart. This is not to say the writers were bound by Superman's already dense mythology, because the duo added some pretty exciting new developments to the mix, most notably making Clark's burgeoning friendship with young Lex Luthor (a brilliant Michael Rosenbaum) serve as a core element of the series.

Ah, the glory days of early 2000s television, when studios scrambled to capitalize on the success of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Friends," and "Beverly Hills, 90210." Enter The WB's "Smallville," a Superman prequel based on the blue boy's formative years, before he donned the tights, red underwear, and cape. Starring Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lane, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Sam Jones III as Pete Ross, and Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, the series offered a fun spin on the Superman story and tinkered with iconic characters in a way that made them feel fresh. Lex Luthor, for example, starts out as Clark's best friend and gradually devolves into his comic-book counterpart. At the same time, Superman regulars such as Lois Lane (Erica Durance), Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore), and Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) were given makeovers to properly update them for the modern era; ditto...

It’s been 11 years since Smallville ended, but fans are just as passionate about it now as they were when it aired: The 2022 New York Comic Con cast reunion panel was packed. As much as we try to pretend it's not, television recasting is almost always a big deal. When stage performers get recast in a play, or characters get written out between movie sequels, it's bearable because these types of stories have a natural end point that helps audiences feel some closure about the character who's gone. Yet for TV shows, which encourage binge-watching that blurs the lines between seasons, the change can be jarring and distracting.
The spectrum of effective recasts isn't so much from terrible to great as it is from wildly noticeable to slightly unobtrusive. Whether it's the sudden appearance of scruffy, brown-eyed Daario Naharis on "Game of Thrones," the revolving door of Bobby Drapers on "Mad Men," or the depressing Aunt Viv switch-up on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," recasts usually leave something to be desired.

‘Color My World With Love’: Lily D. Moore & David DeSanctis on Groundbreaking Hallmark Movie (Video)
Lily D. Moore and David DeSanctis are bringing a groundbreaking love story to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. The actors star in Color My World With Love, premiering Sunday, June 12 — a story that centers the experiences of people with Down syndrome. In the movie, single mother Emma (Erica Durance) is fiercely protective of her daughter, 22-year-old Kendall, who Moore says is “independent and wants her mom to let her grow up.” Kendall is a talented artist who paints in the impressionist style. Her life changes forever when she meets Brad in a cooking class and they fall in love. Brad, as described by DeSanctis, is independent and responsible with a “good sense of humor and fun-loving.” Unlike Lily, he lives on his own and works in a T-shirt shop. Brad lost his parents in an accident years prior, which prompted longtime family friend Nic (Benjamin Ayres) to step in and help Brad when he needs it.

On October 16, 2001, Smallville premiered on The WB. The show examined Clark Kent’s origin story, his relationship with his adoptive parents, his rivalry with Lex Luthor, and the many adventures he and his friends had.
It’s been 20 years since the Kents first found Clark in the fields, and we couldn’t let this memorable anniversary pass without paying tribute to this iconic series.
TV Fanatic staff writers, Laura Nowak, Paul Dailly, and Leora Waltuch discussed what they loved about the series, how Alison Mack’s scandal affected their feelings toward Chloe, and what they thought of Clark and Lois’s appearance in the post-Smallville story.
What enticed you to watch Smallville in 2001?
Leora: My father got me into Smallville and Superman. Now Superman is my go-to superhero and a large part of that comes down to growing up with Smallville. Also, as an aspiring journalist, I really admired Chloe.

Apple TV Plus released a trailer for “Invasion,” which launches Oct. 22 with it first three episodes.
The new series hails from Simon Kinberg and David Weil and is set across multiple continents as citizens across the globe struggle to deal with the titular event, which at first presents as smaller and more manageable issues.
“My fellow citizens of the world, what I have to say to you is not something I was ever prepared to say. As many of you know by now, we are suffering from inexplicable and seemingly unrelated incidents ranging from power outages to the destruction of infrastructure and homes,” the president says in the trailer, which you can watch below.
But what was once thought of as being individual incidents very quickly are realized to be connected and being caused by something “not of our Earth,” she continues.

Depending on who you ask, Smallville is either one of the greatest and most inventive explorations of the Superman mythos ever to hit the screen, or a frustratingly mixed bag that sometimes seemed ashamed of its main character’s superheroic roots. The balance is likely to fall firmly with the former, though, and the series was an unquestionable success, becoming not only the longest running Superman TV series ever, but the longest running superhero TV series of all time, with a remarkable 10 season run between 2001-2011. And now, a decade after it finished, the show’s Clark Kent is teasing that an animated sequel is in the works from him and co-star Michael Rosenbaum, who played Clark’s friend-turned-enemy Lex Luthor on the series.
“Michael Rosenbaum and I are actually working on an animated series to bring those characters back to life and use as many of the original cast members as possible,...

Long before the Arrowverse came along and established The CW as the premiere destination for small screen DC superheroes, there was Smallville. The series focusing on Clark Kent before he decided to suit up and save the world was hugely popular at the time, becoming one of the highest-rated shows on The WB before the network merged with Upn to create The CW in 2006.
Over ten seasons, Smallville averaged well above four million viewers per episode, which are the sort of numbers that any show would kill for these days, and it became embedded into the fabric of popular culture thanks to its 217 installments. It might have ended almost a decade ago, but Smallville‘s fingerprints are all over the Arrowverse, as well as other similar projects like Gotham and Pennyworth.

The Arrowverse wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for Smallville paving the way for it, so it’s only right that many of the Superman prequel show’s stars have gone on to appear in The CW’s contemporary DC series. Erica Durance and Laura Vandervoort on Supergirl spring to mind, not to mention Tom Welling reprising his role as Clark Kent in the recent big “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event.
One of the major stars of the series yet to turn up in the Arrowverse, however, is Kristin Kreuk, who played Clark’s first love Lana Lang on eight seasons of the decade-long show. While speaking to TV Line, the actress made clear that’s not due to her, though, as she’d be completely open to the idea if the part was a juicy one.
“Yeah, totally, depending on what it was,” Kreuk revealed. “It’d be so much fun.

It’s easy to say that Erica Durance, who is still acting today, is more of a TV personality than a movie star since she’s made a very good living appearing on the small screen and managed to take up one role in particular that has been talked about for some time, that of Lois Lane on Smallville. Like the rest of the cast she came in as the teenage version of the character and was allowed to grow and develop from there on the show. Along with Tom Welling she did show up in the CW a couple of other

DC fans were delighted to see Smallville star Tom Welling back as Clark Kent for “Crisis on Infinite Earths” last December, as a trip back to the Kent farm in Kansas was an awesome hit of nostalgia. The only thing is there was a fair amount of backlash against the reveal that Earth-167’s Clark had decided to give up his Kryptonian power in order to live a normal life with Erica Durance’s Lois Lane and their daughters.
In an illuminating interview with Fake Nerd Podcast, Arrowverse Ep Marc Guggenheim addressed the elephant in the room and explained a little about the thinking behind having Clark give up his powers and why the reasons behind it were left unsaid.
“We discussed a nod to, believe it or not, Superman II. It wasn’t relevant to the story that we were telling in terms of getting into the specifics of it,...

Although the recent “Crisis on Infinite Earths” managed to pack a lot of cameos into its five-part event, there were apparently many other ideas that didn’t make the final cut. You can see the full list of dropped concepts over on FandomWire via the link below, but one that stands out to us is that Smallville‘s Michael Rosenbaum was originally down to appear as Lex Luthor in the series. If this had happened, the actor would have joined Tom Welling and Erica Durance in returning for the crossover event.
The relationship between Rosenbaum and “Crisis” is intriguing, given that We Got This Covered was the first outlet to break the news that he would be returning as Lex Luthor for the special. However, Rosenbaum then explained that while he’d been approached to appear in the crossover, due to a combination of personal timing, there being no script at the time,...

With Crisis On Infinite Earths in full swing, there have been some surprising developments.
We already knew ahead of the five-episode Arrowverse crossover that Tom Welling and Erica Durance would be back to play their Smallville characters for the first time since the series wrapped in 2011.
The return of the characters aired during Batwoman Season 1 Episode 9, and it did not go down the way many expected it to.
In a surprising move, it was revealed that Welling's Clark Kent no longer had powers. Lex Luthor learned that the hard way when he vowed to rid every single Superman from the multiverse.
After hurling Kryptonite at Clarke, it became clear that it had no effect on the former Man of Steel. Clark was quick to point out that he gave up his powers because he wanted to be a father instead of the protector of the Earth.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Two,” the “Batwoman” episode of the 2019 “Arrowverse” crossover.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Two,” the “Batwoman” episode of the 2019 “Arrowverse” crossover.
The second hour of the CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover killed off another iconic hero — but brought one back.
After Oliver (Stephen Amell) sacrificed himself in event’s first episode, Barry (Grant Gustin) and Oliver’s daughter, Mia (Katherine McNamara), refused to accept his death was permanent.
In an attempt to reverse course, they recruited a very reluctant Sara (Caity Lotz) to find a Lazarus Pit in the multiverse to revive the fallen hero. Thanks to an assist from Constantine (Matt Ryan), they were able to bring back Oliver — but without his soul.
With the Pit revivals traditionally leading to extreme aggression, “it’s not just an easy transformation that you go in the Pit and then you’re back,” “Arrow” executive producer Beth Schwartz points out.

(Warning: The following story contains spoilers from Part 2 of The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths”)

It may have been a brief scene, but it finally allowed viewers to see Tom Welling return to his old role as a pre-Superman Clark Kent, picking up him and Lois Lane (Erica Durance) some 10 years later.

Though some shots of newspaper clippings featuring Welling’s days as the Man of Steel could be seen, he reveals to a recently-revived Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer) — who is on his own mission of eliminating every single Superman in the multi-verse — that he gave up his powers. The fact that is...

But for fans who were hoping they would finally see Welling put on the famous blue tights and red cape, they were probably left a bit disappointed.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part One,” the premiere of the 2019 “Arrowverse” crossover.
Bringing “Crisis on Infinite Earths” to the small screen has been years in the making, so it’s no surprise the epic five-part crossover kicked off with plenty of action on Sunday night with “Supergirl.”
Following a quick refresher of the multiverses (including an appearance from Burt Ward), the cameras honed in on Earth-38 where a dishevelled Wil Wheaton made a cameo as a placard-carrying man alerting everyone to the impeding doomsday. Enter a pants-wearing Kara aka the titular Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) — complete with bangs — to stop the immediate crisis of an angry and oversized lizard, but there were bigger things at play.
The resident superheroes of Earth-38 quickly realized the shocks hitting the planet weren’t actually earthquakes but a wave of antimatter on its way to take them out.
