TORONTO -- Arab-language news service Al-Jazeera is set to take part in a first-ever public meeting of Arab and Israeli TV news and history producers at the 2004 World Congress of History Producers in Toronto, it was announced Monday. New York Times Television president William Abrams will moderate an Oct. 28 panel, History TV and the Middle East, which will include Al-Jazeera war correspondent Hassan Ibrahim, star of the U.S. documentary The Control Room, and Israeli documentary producer Liran Atzmor (The Era of the Generals). The debate will focus on current events in the Middle East, from the war in Iraq to the ideological struggle between fundamentalist Muslims and the secular West.
