We’ve had the reveal, the behind the scenes footage, and even had a bit of a swerve. Still, the question remains: When are we going to see Slitterhead? Thankfully, 2024 appears to be the year, according to developer Bokeh Game Studio.
Per 4Gamer.net (and translated by Gematsu), the Japanese website did their annual roundup of end-of-year creator interviews, interviewing 176 developers, with many of them teasing new titles and announcements in their statements for their 2024 ambitions. Among them were Bokeh Game Studio co-founders Kazunobu Sato and Keiichiro Toyama, who both stated that 2024 would be an important one for Slitterhead.
“Bokeh Game Studio continues its hard work on the development of Slitterhead. I think next year will be a special year for the project,” said Sato. While Toyama calls 2024 “a decisive year” for the upcoming Survival Horror game. “2024 will be a decisive year in which our studio’s first title Slitterhead will really begin being shown.

Remember back in September when Slitterhead developer Bokeh Game Studio teased something with Junji Ito? While it doesn’t appear that Ito will be involved with Slitterhead, we get the next best thing with Ito sitting down with Bokeh Game Studio head Keiichiro Toyama for an episode of “Golden Hour”, Bokeh’s series of sit-down chats with video game devs. The chat with Ito has him looking back at his inspirations, his views on horror and the manga medium.
Toyama kicks things off by noting that he and Ito haven’t met since they were on a panel together when Toyama had just released Forbidden Siren (which was 20 years ago). He also remarked how he has read Ito’s works since they first came out, and that he still does to this day. “I feel that your work remains so consistent,” says Toyama. “In my case, I feel that I...

Bokeh Game Studio has released a new behind-the-scenes development video for their upcoming Survival Horror title Slitterhead, showcasing the motion capture development the team is doing for the project. On top of that, the studio has also taken to X to start tongues wagging regarding the potential involvement of Junji Ito with Slitterhead.
For starters, the video features narration by members of the motion capture team, including Cutscene Director Minoru Kusakabe, who has previous experience working with Bokeh Game Studio’s Keiichiro Toyama for Forbidden Siren and the Gravity Rush series. “Toyama came over to me again when he funded Bokeh Game Studio. From there, I am actively involved in [Slitterhead].”
From there, the video goes over the team’s process of motion capture, what they look for in performances, as well as giving glimpses of the rigged characters from Slitterhead.
Then there’s this post to X, which contains a...

With all the talk of the Silent Hill 2 remake, it’s easy to forget that Bokeh Studio is still working away at their spiritual successor in Slitterhead. The team must have thought so too, as they’ve released another video in their “Golden Hour” series of interviews. This time, Bokeh Game Studio head Keiichiro Toyama sat down with the man behind the Devil May Cry series and Dragon’s Dogma creator, Hideaki Itsuno, to talk about Slitterhead and more.
Currently working away on the recently-announced Dragon’s Dogma 2, Itsuno chats it up with Toyama, talking about their days of creating games in the early PlayStation era. For example, Itsuno waxes nostalgia over Capcom and Konami being “leaders in the pixel style” at the time, while simultaneously talking about the PlayStation’s infamous limitations when it came to memory for certain Capcom fighting games.

Filmmaker Christophe Gans and producer-distributor Victor Hadida of French indie major Metropolitan are back for the next movie in the franchise, which we hear is already selling well off of a strong script by Gans, Sandra Vo-Ahn and Will Schneider. Shoot is being lined up for early next year with casting underway.
Based on the hit Konami survival-horror video game series, Gans’ 2006 film followed a woman who goes in search for her adopted daughter within the confines of a strange, desolate town called Silent Hill, which is covered in fog and monsters. The cult film, starring Radha Mitchell and Sean Bean, made more than 100M and spawned a sequel in 2012 (which wasn’t directed by Gans).

I hope you’re ready to explore a different kind of upside-down because Playstation Productions and Scott Free Productions are developing a film based on the 2012 action-adventure video game Gravity Rush. Shameless and Runaways director Anna Mastro is directing from a script by Emily Jerome (Panopticon).
In Sony’s topsy-turvy adventure, “players assume the role of Kat, a strong-willed girl trying to protect her future in a world crumbling to pieces,” reads the game’s official description. “With incredible gravity-altering abilities, Kat is the only one who can salvage the floating city of Hekseville – if only she could remember who she is…”
Sony released Gravity Rush on the Playstation Vita in 2012. After finding a dedicated audience on the handheld platform, Gravity Rush Remastered was released on the Playstation 4 in 2015 in Japan. The remastered version of the original adventure came to North America and Europe in 2016. Keiichiro Toyama, the creator of the Silent Hill,...

Silent Hill is currently dead. After Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills was canned, there’s been no news of a follow-up, despite the perpetual unfounded rumors of Sony buying the IP and/or Konami resurrecting it. As a longtime fan, this state of affairs is intensely frustrating, especially as Resident Evil moves from strength to strength and we got a tantalizing taste of a current-gen Silent Hill via the amazing P.T. demo.
But there’s a bit of news that’s broken recently that might show some light at the end of the tunnel. Keiichiro Toyama, who created the series and went on to mastermind the similarly excellent Siren franchise, has announced a new horror title. Earlier this year, he founded Bokeh Game Studio and in an interview with IGN Japan, explained that their first project will “appeal to fans of my previous work.”

A new Silent Hill game may have been in the works this whole time, and none of us knew anything about it. According to prominent leaker AestheticGamer, the fifth installment in this infamous horror franchise is currently in development at Sony’s Japan Studio, where it entered the production stage at some point last year.
Of course, Silent Hill has been the subject of more rumors than we care to count, mostly because we can’t keep track of them all. Indeed, while we’ve heard that Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima had picked up the plans for a sequel which he was forced to abort in 2014, other reports say that God of War director Cory Barlog is secretly considering taking on the project.
According to AestheticGamer, however, the game will be headed by Keiichiro Toyama, creative director of the 1999 original. According to the leaker, Akira Yamaoka, the composer of Silent Hill 2,...

After years of floundering in obscurity, it appears as if Silent Hill may have finally found a new place to call home.
Following the cancellation of Hideo Kojima’s foray into the franchise teased with P.T., fans of the survival horror series have been left wondering what, if anything, Konami had planned for the IP going forward. Hopes turned to despair last year when it emerged the publisher had seemingly abandoned the official Silent Hill web domain in favor of producing gambling machines based on the brand instead of new mainline installments.
Fast-forward 12 months, however, and the situation is looking much less grim. That is, of course, assuming the rumors currently circulating online are to be believed which, given their source, makes them credible at the very least. Prolific industry insider AestheticGamer, aka Dusk Golem, has shared a number of new developments on Silent Hill‘s future in a...

The rumour mill for Konami’s Silent Hill franchise has been in full swing as of late.
From outlandish reports of Microsoft buying the Japanese publisher’s gaming back catalogue, to more plausible news of the company partnering with Sony to develop two brand new Silent Hill titles, to even the unlikely possibility of a re-collaboration between Konami and everyone’s favourite Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima. Long story short: even though there hasn’t been any official confirmation from the publisher, the Silent Hill series feels like it’s finally back in the spotlight now, and that’s even before mentioning the new cinematic sequel that’s officially been given the greenlight, too.
That said, some fresh new intel that pertains to Konami’s beloved survival horror franchise has begun to make the rounds, and it comes from one of 2020’s most prominent leakers, Dusk Golem Aka AestheticGamer over on Twitter.

That wait for a new Silent Hill game could soon be over.
Following on from a number of recent reports claiming that IP owner Konami has been shopping around for a developer to take on the task of bringing the series back, it now seems as if the publisher has found the right people for the job. As per Rely on Horror, sources close to the project have told the site that veterans Masahiro Ito, Keiichiro Toyama and Akira Yamaoka are all involved in what they’re told is being billed as a “soft reboot” of the survival horror franchise.
As if that wasn’t already enough to boost your hopes of a grand comeback, the same sources also specify that Sony is actively pursuing the venture and has brokered some sort of agreement with Konami, likely with the end goal of an exclusivity deal for the upcoming PlayStation 5.

Developer Sie Japan Studio’s project manager Nick Accordino states in the blog post that two different paths will be available for those that give the trial a play, one for those who are “new to Gravity Rush,” and another for those that are “more familiar with Kat’s powers.” As with the original game, Gravity Rush 2 sells itself on the unique gravity-controlling powers exhibited by protagonist Kat, with the feature expanded in the sequel to include three two new styles: Lunar and Jupiter.

The delays keep coming, as Sie Japan Studio’s Gravity Rush 2 is the latest title to miss its previously scheduled release date. Originally set to launch on December 2 in North America, the highly-anticipated sequel will now release on January 20, 2017.
Picking up following the events of the original Gravity Rush, the sequel once again stars gravity-shifting heroine Kat. Joined by her friend Raven for this go-around, the title will transport the action to a brand new location. Plot details are still being mostly kept under wraps, but as long as the gameplay is still solid, I imagine most fans are fine being kept in the dark.
