I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has returned for a brand new series with a fresh bunch of contestants.
The ITV series is taking place in Wales, as opposed to Australia, for the second year running due to the pandemic
Proceedings kicked off last week with a bumper episode that saw broadcaster Richard Madeley and Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge led two teams in the first Bushtucker Trial. Madeley has since been forced to exit the series after he was taken to hospital as a “precaution” due to ill health.
While many viewers usually express sympathy for the contestants as they participate in these challenging trials, it’s worth remembering they’ve been paid good money to be on the show.
So, how much is each celebrity earning for their appearance in the reality series? The full amount haven’t been officially announced, but this year’s highest-paid star...

After a 2020 dedicated to being stuck in our living rooms, things vaguely started returning to normal in 2021 (don’t mention the ‘O’ word) and there was plenty of time for breakout hits and established ratings giants.
Here, Deadline takes you through the five most-watched TV episodes of the year in the UK (excluding news and sports), with consolidated seven-day Barb ratings data supplied by overnights.tv. While drama and mainstream entertainment dominate as ever, there is also an appearance for that royal interview. Read on.
Line of Duty – 15.2M (BBC1 – Sunday May 2)
It may have been the most hotly-anticipated TV drama of the decade. The sixth-season finale of Jed Mercurio’s police thriller epic was admittedly met with a mixed reception from critics and viewers alike but the show had been watched by around one-quarter of the British population by the following weekend, guaranteeing it first place in the most-watched list.

The latest scandal engulfing Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party reached millions of viewers on mainstream TV last night as I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! hosts Ant and Dec poked fun at the Prime Minister’s Christmas party saga.
Johnson is facing difficult questions after footage was leaked of his Press Secretary Allegra Stratton joking with aides about a Christmas party that took place in Downing Street last year, at a time when the country was in a near-lockdown and such parties weren’t allowed.
In a clip introducing a segment after the contestants chose a new “camp leader” in place of David Ginola, Ant joked the contestants “weren’t celebrating,” adding: “They didn’t have a party, they categorically deny any suggestions that they had a party. And this ‘fictional party’ definitely didn’t involve cheese and wine, or a secret Santa.”

A Newcastle United fan’s philosophy consists of tenacity, passion and ‘kiss the badge’ endeavour, mixed with the heart-warming belief that replicating these traits on the pitch will eventually bring their club some silverware. Throughout the Magpies’ Premier League era there are very few players who ‘put a shift in’ and were not widely regarded as cult heroes or idolised by fans.
Good old-fashioned effort can indeed sometimes be enough; football supporters love nothing more than a central midfielder dashing 20 yards to recover the ball (he’s possibly just lost) with a last-ditch, player-first, ball-second slide tackle. St James’ Park demands that each player who pulls on the black and white striped jersey gives 100% and demonstrably earns every single zero on their pay-check.

There have been some stellar names who have represented Newcastle United Football Club since the Premier League’s inception in 1992. The likes of Alan Shearer, David Ginola, Peter Beardsley, Nolberto Solano and Yohan Cabaye had all adorned the famous black-and-white-striped shirt.
Yet, unfortunately, the Magpies have also have more than their fair share of hopeless cases in the Premier League as well. Famed for signing “flops”, there have been a whole host of players who have represented Newcastle in the past 25 years who simply weren’t up to the task.
Now, because there have been just as many – if not more – flops to represent Newcastle in the Premier League as there have been wonderfully-gifted players, that makes selecting the Magpies’ worst-ever Premier League XI an extremely-difficult task.
There is competition in just about every single position on the pitch and, undoubtedly, Magpies fans will disagree with...

Since the Premier League started back in 1992, Newcastle United have featured in all bar two of the competition’s seasons – the inaugural 1992-93 campaign, as well as 2009-10 following the Magpies’ relegation to the Championship.
Premier League ever-presents they may not be, but Newcastle are certainly modern top-flight regulars to say the least. During the Premier League era, a whole host of magnificent players from both home and abroad have represented the Magpies – including the likes of David Ginola, Nolberto Solano and, of course, Alan Shearer.
Interestingly, former Newcastle owner Sir John Hall had a vision for the Magpies that, in the modern era, seems simply a pipe dream. Hall’s desire to one day field a full XI of Geordies seemed ludicrous during the 1990s – and it appears practically implausible in 2015.

When Newcastle United supporters – like fans of any other club – reminisce about the players to represent the Magpies down the years, they more-often-than-not talk about their all-time greats (like Alan Shearer or David Ginola), the controversial figures (such as Joey Barton or Lee Bowyer), or even the Toon’s worst-ever representatives (for example Marcelino or Xisco).
But there remain some players who, perhaps unfairly, are often left out of the discussions. Those players who weren’t mavericks, were unlikely to change a game single-handedly, and who rarely did or said anything controversial, but who performed an important and admirable task for their side.
These players can aptly be named the “under-rated” players from Newcastle United’s history. Those footballers who, through various means, helped the Magpies achieve (relative) success, yet who are not often credited as doing so.

Tottenham Hotspur are something of an enigma in the English game. Renowned for playing attractive football, there always seems to be a flaw holding them back from going on to achieve bigger and better things.
Since the inception of the Premier League, Spurs have flirted with relegation, been mired in mid-table mediocrity and have, at times, excelled while never really troubling the top teams.
They have never really been helped by numerous changes in management, which has seen the likes of Ossie Ardiles, Gerry Francis, Christian Gross, George Graham, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Harry Redknapp and many more waltz through and then slouch out of the seemingly ever revolving manager’s door at the Lane.
Some truly wonderful players have entertained the White Hart Lane faithful. Jurgen Klinsmann, Teddy Sheringham, David Ginola and Luka Modric are just a selection of the fantastic players Spurs have had within their ranks.

Spurs have had some great players in the Premier League era – Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick, David Ginola and Jurgen Klinsmann to name but a few – but none of those players really ended up sticking around for a particularly long time.
In the twenty-two years since the Premier League began, there have been hundreds of players coming in to and out of White Hart Lane and the majority of those players either don’t make the grade or only end up playing a handful of times (you only have to look at the fact that Spurs currently have fifty professional players on their books to realise that that’s the case).
However, the club has had a number of players who spent a very large chunk of their careers at White Hart Lane and ended up accumulating a large number of appearances for Spurs,...

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Benjamin Stambouli has spoken out about his move to White Hart Lane and the reasons he chose the Lilywhites ahead of a number of other clubs.
Speaking to L’Equipe, Stambouli said:
You can’t refuse a club like Tottenham. I didn’t hesitate. Going abroad was a choice for my personal life. I wanted to discover a new football, another culture. To be a regular in the first team will be difficult but that is high level football. There are a lot of good players, but that is no problem. I also faced competition at Montpellier before being regularly in the first team.
Spurs reportedly had competition from Premier League rivals Swansea City, Marseille in Stambouli’s homeland and Italian Serie A side Fiorentina, but Stambouli opted for the move to England and has cited that Chris Waddle and David Ginola – two former Spurs...

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have had some great players in the Premier League era but, when you actually go to list them, very few of those who spring to mind as the very best of the bunch are English. Jurgen Klinsmann, Christian Ziege, David Ginola, Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric, Rafael van der Vaart, Gareth Bale, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen are the types of player who stand out as Spurs superstars from recent years, but that really is underselling the English talent they’ve had on display in that time.
In fact, Spurs have been incredibly faithful to English players in the Premier League years – much more so than most of the Premier League’s teams, particularly those at the top end of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club are a club who are known for their attacking prowess and for scoring goals (they certainly aren’t known for being a tight-knit defensive unit).
Over the years, they club have had some wonderful attacking players – Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Smith, Martin Shivers, Gary Lineker, Teddy Sheringham, David Ginola and Gareth Bale to name but a few – and the Premier League years have been no different in that regard.
As a result, there have been some very memorable goals scored in that time – though not all of them have come from the attacking players who you’d necessarily expect them to come from.
Although many of Spurs’ most memorable goals in recent years are memorable specifically because of how good they were, several are memorable simply because of the circumstances in which they were scored; late equalisers, last minute winners,...

Let’s be perfectly frank here, Ben Arfa is not wanted at Newcastle United, and no amount of shouting his name at away games, or accusing Alan Pardew of idiocy over his treatement is going to change that. Rightly or wrongly, the player is deemed a toxic influence at the club, with poor on-field impact not matching up to his undoubted, unquantifiable talent, and rumours that he is something of a diva around the training ground.
Make no mistake, the Frenchman has not simply been relegated to play with the kids because he is carrying a little too much timber, and the manager’s assertions that his professionalism leaves a lot to be desired is a hint of what he’s really like behind closed doors. But the real question for Newcastle fans is how far a player of such monumental talent – and...

The stars came out in force at St. James’ Park last night as almost 51,000 fans paid tribute to one of Newcastle United’s loyalist servants.
Some of the biggest celebrities in the Magpies’ history turned out for Steve Harper’s testimonial, and faced an AC Milan side packed with legends of their own.
Celebrated names such as Alan Shearer, Faustino Asprilla and David Ginola all donned the black and white shirt one more time to mark 20 years of service from the goalkeeper.
And the Italians weren’t short of household names themselves, with Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi and Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio all featuring on an emotional night on Tyneside.
The game itself, which ended goalless, was settled by a penalty shootout that saw the Rossoneri’s old boys triumph. But the outcome was of little importance on a evening that saw all proceeds handed to local charities.

The Premier League: Arguably the most competitive and highest standard of domestic club football on the planet.
Over the years, some of the world’s best players have graced the competition – Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Shearer, Ryan Giggs, Dennis Bergkamp, Rio Ferdinand, Jurgen Klinsmann, Gareth Bale, David Ginola and Didier Drogba to name but a few.
But there have also been some absolute turkeys.

Former French soccer star David Ginola was hospitalised on Tuesday after breaking five ribs in a skiing accident.
The 45 year old is said to have crashed into another skier at the Portes du Mont Blanc resort in the French Alps and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
As well as the broken ribs, Ginola also suffered extensive bruising and collarbone damage.
A spokesperson for the star tells BBC Sport, "Something went wrong because he is an incredibly good skier. All I know is he broke five ribs very badly. He also has a collarbone injury and the vertebrae in his neck have been quite badly knocked. He is wearing a neck brace."
Ginola was later released from hospital but has cancelled a string of personal appearances to recover from his injuries.

The four-minute 10:10 clip urged consumers to reduce their carbon emissions by 10%.
