Bruce Timm’s contribution to DC’s Animated Universe has been significant, to say the least. His genius helped create some of the most iconic works in animation, understanding the characters in a way very few at the time were able to. The one series that perfectly encompasses the effect he has on projects is Batman: The Animated Series.
Batman: The Animated Series
Being known as one of the best versions of Batman, the series was perfect in every way possible. From the voice acting, to the animation, and even the storytelling; it was ahead of its time that even now, shows find it difficult to meet the standard it set. The biggest reason for such success is because the studio, Fox, trusted that the creators knew what they were doing with the character.

When you think about Batman, one wouldn’t be wrong to think about the animated series that aired in the 90s. The DC hero was already an icon. But Batman: The Animated Series took the caped crusader’s fame to the next level. And a lot of credit for that goes to Bruce Timm, the brain behind the series. In spite of the reputation and success of the DC series, there were some things that left him disappointed. But what tops this list is something that Marvel did with his idea.
Batman: The Animated Series was Bruce Timm’s brainchild
Batman: The Animated Series won every fans’ heart
Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series would go on to become the definitive version of Batman for years to come. What made the series a hit amongst fans of all ages was the fact that it got the balance right – a...

No one likes censors, but the ones over Fox always seemed to get an especially bad rap — especially back in the '90s. "The Simpsons" killed the Fox censor in the intro to "Treehouse of Horror VIII," and numerous absurd Standards and Practices notes have come to light over the years, including one from Fox Kids' "Spiderman: The Animated Series" which demanded Spidey not "harm the pigeons" when he landed on rooftops.
In fact, "Spiderman: Tas" showrunner John Semper Jr. recalled in an interview how by the time his show debuted in 1994, "there was a Lot of censorship at Fox." The company had seen their mega-popular "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers" banned in Canada and were more stringent than ever, especially when it came to kids' programming. As Semper recalled:
"When I watch the older episodes of 'Batman' that first aired on Fox, they do all kinds of things that we couldn't do.

Batwoman takes a leap into the paranormal this week as a new villain, Nocturna arrives as a serial killer that projects herself as a vampire that literally drains the blood out of her victims. It’s a unique take on a serial killer story and one that would fit much better in an October/Halloween episode than in February.
Nocturna (Kayla Ewell) is actually Natalia Knight, who was adopted as a child by a janitor working at a church. It just so happens Natalia has a rare blood disorder that prevents her from being exposed to sunlight and her kidneys have trouble cleaning her own blood, hence the reason she needs other people’s blood to stay alive. Nocturna could be an interesting villain/character but unfortunately, she isn’t given...

February’s home media releases are ending in a big way, with 20 different horror and sci-fi titles making their way onto various formats this week. Leading the pack this Tuesday are Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, which comes home on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD, as well as Richard Stanley’s Color Out of Space, which will be available on both Blu and DVD. Scream Factory is showing Mary Lambert’s Pet Sematary Two some love this week with their Collector’s Edition release, and for those of you into wacky, obscure cult classics, you’ll definitely want to pick up Vinegar Syndrome’s Blu-ray for Spookies.
Arrow Video is keeping busy with their Special Edition releases of Deadly Manor and the One Missed Call trilogy, and Severin Films has given James Glickenhaus’ The Astrologer an HD overhaul this week, too.
Other notable releases for February 25th include The Candy Snatchers,...

From what I understand (based on my pretty serviceable Google-Fu powers), Batwoman Season 1 Episode 13 takes a monstrously huge leap away from the comic book canon on the Batwoman-Nocturna relationship.
Instead of an intense and intimate relationship mired in a toxic power dynamic that nearly severs all of Kate's support network, Nocturna appears here as a VotW, with all her mystic abilities explained away with fake fangs and some complex health issues.
Too be fair, vampire slaying and nightclubbing was, to paraphrase Luke, a bit of fun after all the dark they'd been dealing with lately.
What was also fun was watching Kate tease Luke with the sexier side of her life whether it be her knowledge of non-traditional clubs on Gotham's nightscene or the details of her encounter with Nocturna.
Despite the gravitas of Sophie's situation with Jacob and the multiple confrontations between Kate and Alice and, oh yeah,...

Batwoman brought the goods with two big surprises we've been waiting for since the first episode, and a few more twists and turns to boot

Batwoman Episode 13
Did a mandate go out that only great things could happen in this episode? Because from Luke's little light-up tie to the Bat in the bellfry callback, it felt like every inch of this episode Batwoman was dialed up to eleven. There were several smart surprises, and I don’t mean Mary’s realization about how Kate spends her evenings or that rooftop smooch. Swerving to have Nocturna go after Alice was a great move to keep our favorite villain in the action.
Even better, this set up a paradigm flip where Kate’s no longer pursuing her sister in the hope of bringing out the best in her. I’m looking forward to seeing...

Vampire Diaries vet Kayla Ewell is back to being a bloodsucker: The actress, who played human-turned-vamp Vicki Donovan on the aforementioned CW drama, will guest-star on Batwoman as the vampiric DC Comics villain Nocturna, EW.com reports.
The baddie will prey on Gotham’s residents in the Feb. 23 episode to sustain her need for human blood caused by a rare disease. The character has a history in the DC Comics canon, dating back to the ’80s, when Nocturna was introduced as a thief with light sensitivity. She later became one of Bruce Wayne’s love interests before she was reintroduced...
